Happy Thursday, all! It's almost weekend! I am off today, but have some errands to run in a bit. I am usually off on Thursdays and Fridays, and take those two days to get a lot of my things done. Much easier to do it by myself than to have to take the kids along! Tomorrow would be another day off, but I am subbing at my kids school since one of the girls will be out for the day! So extra money!! :cheer2:

I just made a cruise payment. If all goes well, the cruise itself will be paid off by April! Can't wait! I also reserved our camping spot for August! They open up reservations 6 months ahead, so Feb. 1st (today), they open for the whole month of August! The spot we camp at is really popular, it's right by the beach and beautiful! So if you don't sit by the computer ready to book at 8am sharp on the 1st, you are out of luck! I managed to get our favorite spot, overlooking the ocean! I am not a big camping person myself, but the kids and DH love it, so I go along with it. It's only 4 nights out of the year! :rolleyes1

Hope you all have a great day! I'll be here on and off throughout the day! Gonna go have some coffee now and read my emails :surfweb:

Hey everyone! Just checking in at lunch time. I'm very glad the weekend is just around the corner. Then in only 3 more weeks I'm off to someplace nice and warm Hawaii! Looking forward to warm weather and sunshine! Hope we get both! :sunny:

Hi,

Are you talking about Carpinteria? Some friends are renting the group spot in June for 3 nights and we are all just bringing our kids (I do vacation with my husband - however, he is going to Italy in June and I'm going with the girls to Alaska in July). I'm going to rent a tent trailer and my husband is going to set it up for me.

Tonight I have a soccer meeting to go to. I'm going to coach dd13 & dd11's team this Spring. I've never coached, but it will be the only time they will both be on the same team. AYSO Spring season is very lax and they combine different age groups. They both also play on club teams - so they'll do both. They just really wanted to play together.

Tomorrow is my "day off" so I'll be around more.

no, El Capitan, Jen! We love it there! Beautiful beach, and tidepools in the morning. And nice, short nature walks! We tent camp. ugh! Hopefully one day we'll get a 5th wheel trailer or something and I'll be out of my misery! :rotfl:

Hi,

I would tent camp, however it is just a group of girls with kids so I want a door that locks.

Hawaii sounds nice! Take me PLEASE!! Where are you going?

We are going to Oahu and staying at the Ko Olina Beach Club. We won the stay on the 2006 DVC Member Cruise. We had planned on going and staying at the Hilton Hawaiian Village but a free room beats paying for one any day.

Well the stay is free. Had to pay for airfare and everything else (rental car, excursions, food, etc.) It definately helped the budget however!

But no penguins at this place, right? :( :( Good thing we didn't arrange for Nick to join his Smoothie dad.

Oh, that reminds me....
Mike emailed me a story....gotta dig it out of email....brb....

I'm back (did you miss me?) Anyway, this story is from Mike's nurse. Her dh works with the grandma in this story:

Mike says:
This is a TRUE story I had to share with everyone.

A lady who works at a Kroger here in Springfield took her 4yo grandson to the Newport Aquarium down by Cincinnati. Toward the end of their visit, the boy wandered off, and the grandmother couldn't find him. She panicked, contacted security, and finally found him--but the boy had been off on his own for over an hour!

She was frazzled and left with the child immediately.

On the way back to Springfield, she noticed a bad smell in the car. She asked the boy if he had gotten into something when he was wandering around. Of course, he said he hadn't.

The smell persisted, and she asked him again. Did you poop your pants? That sort of thing. Again, he said no.

When they got home, Grandma told the boy that he needed to take a bath before his mom came to pick him up.

He unzipped his coat.

And inside was a BABY PENGUIN!!!!!!!!

Turns out, the boy followed two workers into the penguin exhibit, picked up a baby penguin, hid it under his coat, and left.

The grandma panicked again!

She called Newport Aquarium. They told her to fill the bathtub with cold water and some ice and to let the penguin wade around in it. Then they drove to Springfield to pick up the penguin and take it back to the aquarium.

They asked the grandma not to let word about it get out because of the potential bad publicity with this sort of security breach. She told some co-workers, and that's how I heard the story.

It comes from a reliable source!

Me again....so, I read this story to Nick and what does he say? "I want to steal a baby penguin!!!" :lmao:

U TOP with Mary, Nick and baby penguins! :)

You are right - no penquins at Ko Olina. Plus we only got what is the same as a DVC studio. We won an "up to two bedroom" stay, but when they called with the dates we wanted for a studio we jumped on it!

Did I ever tell you we got to go into the puffin exhibit at Sea World? It was awesome but I didn't take any babies home with us.

Yes. You did. That's cool. I don't think taking home a baby puffin would be a good idea. I get the feeling that Bear prefers to be an only child. :)

Making cupcakes and mmmmm....they smell good. Groundhog day is tomorrow so you know what that means??? WE NEED TO CELEBRATE! :) :)

But one of our family is going to a youth group overnight tomorrow so we're celebrating a day early. Cupcakes with sprinkles IN them, homemade icing, and cake batter flavored ice cream

And I wonder why I pulled a muscle the other day trying to get my jeans on!!!! :lmao:

this was me on the bed trying to get them on -------> :rotfl2:

That is so nice that you celebrate my Grandma Riley's birthday. I'm sure if she was alive she would be very pleased. :)

that's totally something my DD would do!! We went to Sea World when she was smaller...around 3 or so! We went to look at the tidepool thingie there and you can touch the starfish and all. She bent over to touch them and then sat down in her umbrella stroller. We walked away and about 2 minutes later, I noticed something in her lap! It was a STARFISH!!!!!!! It was small so I didn't notice it right away. I was mortified. We went back and put it back in there and walked away real fast! :rotfl2:

I am ON A DIET!!! No food talk! :scared: And I hope you weren't laughing like that guy as you struggled to get your jeans on! He's got his mouth wide open. Or is that panting because he's out of breath? :rotfl:

I think their biggest mistake was offering the entire block of cruises for sale all at once. They should have staggered the release of the different cruises offered. Would have saved the deluge and mess they had today.

That said, anyone who was left out today still has a shot, once the jump on the bandwagon hype wears off the me too's will cancel for whatever is the next 'hot' thing.

since I never been on a Disney Cruise before, I need to ask you experts. Would this be considered to casual for semi-formal night for my DD who will be 8? I bought this for her today and bought it a bigger size that will still fit her next year. Right now, it's just a little long on her, but it's a dress...doesn't matter! I will take it on the cruise regardless, if she can't wear it for semi-formal, it will still be nice for dinner regardless! You can take the little jacket off!

Only for semi? That would be fine even on formal night, I would think. But maybe a more..feminine opinion might differ from mine.

Depends on how far you wish to carry the semi and formal nights. For a guy example, I'm polos/dockers for the regular nights, a dinner jacket for semi and add in a good tie for formal and that's about it. I've already done the tux thing and it was fun, but don't think it's something I really feel the need to do again.

And for kids, they get cut a little more slack than the adults. For semi, anything that's a real honest to goodness dress would be great for your DD8. Most of the regular evenings are a bit more relaxed than that, I think the term is resort casual?

You'll notice I edit my posts a lot. I tend to get too brief and then come up with more thought after the fact a lot of the time.
