Hey Jordgubben....I pass that party store on my way to Monmouth Mall all the time.......(but I will not stop and get a costume!!!) Jack Sparrow was on Oprah today...minus his pirate duds....so where are you located? I must have missed that info along the way.

I'm from Tinton Falls. I grew up here. Where are you?

Also, if you were planning on stopping at the Party Warehouse I suggest you do it sooner rather than later. It appeared the supplies were going quickly and I don't know how much longer they will be open before they change owners (they are going to have to restock the entire store when they do).

Hey,

I am in Brick on the border of Howell, Wall, Pt.Pleasant and Brielle...and I grew up here too!!!

DCBROWN and JORDGUBBEN - "It's a small world after all"...sorry couldn't help myself - I live in Jackson not too far from you guys at all. As a matter of fact I used to work in Wayside at Kepwel Spring Water - are you familiar with that company. I will be in Ocean tomorrow - I'm meeting someone for lunch so maybe I'll stop in at the party store. Thanks for the tip.

Hi Kelly, It sure is a small world...we are in Toms River. Thanks to Megan for answering Kevin's questions so quickly! The kids really seem to be having fun with that thread...ok, so am I! :earsboy:

dkmjgal...are you kidding ....Jackson? I teach at Elms!!! Do not tell me that all you folks from Tinton Flls, Toms River and Jackson are going on this cruise....way too funny!!! I can hardly stand it!!!

Not to perpetuate the stereotype but... I'm right off Exit 102, practically down the street from Kepwell Spring Water.

So I was thinking that we might want to get back to figuring out this meet thing. Someone had suggested 4:00 on the first day. I thought that sounded like a fun idea. I’ve heard of people that meet just before the sail away party so that they can hang out there together if they want.

I think the 4PM meet is fine ...plenty of time to do what you need to ...sounds like most of us have done this before and will be acclimated to the ship and its schedule....if I am not mistaken the "drill" is at 4:30 right before the "sailaway" I also think we should encourage all the kids to come too...it is just a few minutes and when they make friends right off the bat, it works out great!

Hey dcbrown,

This will be our family's first DC. I am pretty up to speed on the DISboards and things like that, but since we haven't done this before, I am wondering where the meeting will take place on the ship. We would love to meet everyone, even though it seems that we will be the only "southerners" in the group....lol! :rotfl:

Whoops! I just looked at a navagator from another western cruise (found online) and the boat drill was at 4:00 and the Sail Away Party was at 4:30. I guess we could say right after the boat drill but those of you who have done a DC before will have to weigh in on the feasibility of that plan.

DCBROWN- I can't believe you teach at ELMS!!!! This is too funny!

I definitely like the idea of meeting on the 1st day - we have the early seating for Dinner so I don't know how much time there is after the sail away party to get ready for dinner - there's four of us getting ready. Maybe right about 5:00 pm - before those who have the early sitting have to leave to get ready? We'll figure it out I'm sure.

How about 3-3:15 at "Scoops" .....Ice cream stand on deck 9 aft of the pools...there are tables around and all can enjoy a sweet treat.
So Kelly....Where do your kids go to school? I have taught at every Elementary school in Jackson except for Rosenauer and Johnson.

I like the idea of meeting at "scoops". I think we could pull that off.

My kids are in Switlik - DD in 4th DS in K - my daughter went to Crawford for 2 years before they did the re-destricting. She had Ms. Georgiano and Ms. Radian-Potaski-
It "REALLY" is a small world.

DCBROWN - my daughter just said that she had a Ms. Brown in Crawford - that's not you is it????

kelly :flower:

I was the gym teacher at Crawford...I had both Mrs. Georgiano's and Mrs. Potaski's class..... so I had your daughter!! Deffinitely did not have your son!!! WOW!! My kids are 17 and 12 a little older!! But if your daughter ever came in my office for anything ...she saw it decorated "Disney"!! I do not know how everyone else feels about the meet...so far just a few have responded...we still have time!

3-3:15 at Scoops sounds good for us. My husbands a little shy so if meeting a bunch of people he doesn't float his boat I know he'll come along for ice cream!

(Keeping in mind that things are subject to change anyway) I was looking at the Navigators and saw there is a "walking ship tour" at 2:30. We were assuming this is sort of a "welcome to the ship here's where stuff is" kind of tour. Since it's our first time I thought it might be a good idea to take it. Has anyone taken it before and if so, do you recall about how long it was? If we have to we'll bag the tour early in order to meet (no biggie). I probably know more than the average, non-disboard reading, first-timer anyway.

The tour sounds like a good idea for a newbie....the ship is very BIG and as soon as you can get acclimated to where things are, you will feel right at HOME!! That is why I can not see the point of a 3 day cruise...by the time I figure out where to go, I have to get off the boat!! You will be WAAAAAAAY ahead of the folks who do not have the shared knowlege of these boards...you will almost feel as though you cruised before!!

A meet at Scoops sounds good to me! The ship tour does sound like a good idea for us too. Has anyone ever done the dolphin excursion? Always wanted to swim with the dolphins but I see this is not really a swim, is it worth it?
