April 21, 2007 -- Western Magic -- anyone?

Let's see what are we wearing? Hmmmm... I have not planned out every day (I know what is wrong with me?). I have my formal dress and semi formal dress (I didn't want to spend a lot so I bought them both at Ross for $35.) I hope they will be okay. It is so weird the things that I will be cheap about. My husband has a bunch of slacks from work so I will pack those. He is bringing his suit for formal night. My son has a tux left over from my sister's wedding. I have 2 dresses from old navy I will slip in there and we should be good to go. I really only shop at Old Navy and Gap sales.

We are booked on the Western Repo in May 2008 and a West Coast May 2008 cruise. We will only be doing one of those. I have to wait until October to see what days off my husband can get off and then cancel the one that he can't get.

I am turning 30 in July and I have always wanted to put a little purple in my hair. So, I figure now is a good time for it. It won't be a lot, just a little in the middle. Not at the top. I have blond hair though, so my hairdresser is a little stressed about doing it.

Congratulations to everyone celebrating their 10 year anniversary! That is so neat. We just celebrated 8 in March.

Jenni

What about denim overalls, plaid shirt & a straw hat one night. We do live on farm land you know.
:rotfl2: Greeeeeeen Acres is the place to be! Faaaaaarm livin' is the life for me!
Anybody else have a spouse that likes to freak you out over the smallest things? Val, I expect you to say yes. ;)
You know I do!

Uh-oh, if Eric sees Chris and Justin in jeans, I'll be in trouble!!! He'll give me this "I told you I could wear jeans" look. Maybe I'll sneak a pair in the suitcase just in case. :rotfl:
You could pack them as a pair of "traveling jeans." But now we have to decide what night they all can actually wear them! :lmao:

:rotfl2: Greeeeeeen Acres is the place for me! Faaaaaarm livin' is the life for me!

:rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Alright, you owe me a new keyboard. That made me laugh out loud. :lmao: Really though, DH doesn't even own overalls. Or any of that stuff. The only thing on the land are cows. He's already protesting to wearing a tie, but oh well. We will have atleast one nice family photo. Besides, like Amy, I'm doing the packing, so he doesn't get much of a choice. :) Almost all his stuff is packed & checked off the list now.

What Movies will be Playing during the cruise?

I called yesterday...let me see if I can remember (my list is upstairs). Cars, Meet the Robinsons, Wild Hogs, Prestige (?--I think, or something like that), The Guardian, POTC2, that Tarabithia thing (I can't remember what it's called!), Santa Clause 3 :santa: (:confused3), and maybe one other. I'll check when I go up again. I believe it was very similar to the list that was on the main board a week or two ago.

soooo much chatting today :upsidedow i have been packing pirate: and making my final shopping list! woo hoo!!!

we are traveling in jeans so there we go. we'll have 'traveling jeans' in case the mood strikes us for dinner. I ended up dressing up a bit more for dinner than i originally thought. Taylor helped me plan my dinner outfits and she vetoed every single pair of capris but one that i own! she told me they were too long on me and looked ridiculously like floods. and she wants to wear skirts and asked me to with her. i'm ok with it. i have one that is a chocolate brown denim-looking skirt. i hope this is ok for Palo brunch? i haven't checked the dress code for women? i just no that no-shorts rule. Preston will love to tell you how I sent him to Palo brunch in docker shorts and they sent him back to change! oops!! we have lots of brown this year so Preston has khaki dockers with polos for dinner mostly. we are more casual for pirate night, he is going tropical, Taylor and I have a pirate-feell to our outfits and Paige has a pirate costume. well i have to get her a shirt, but i will :scared: hopefully find the perfect shirt out shopping!

val -- glad the photo thing helped you out! see how fun it is to be anal, i mean detail-oriented? :cool2:

corryn -- bring your walking shoes :cool1: i'll have mine. i figure the first few days i'll be up and at 'em around 7 - 7:30, and the my internal alarm clock will quiet down as the week goes on? i hope! but honestly i get so excited at WDW or on the ship that i'm like bouncing out of bed as soon as my eyes crack open. this is NOT normal for me

Bridge to Taribithia (sp?) -- my mostest favoritest book when i was a young teen :teeth: my girls are looking forward to it and Robinsons. I wanted to see SC3 so maybe? there isn't much time for movies though......

cheryl -- my thoughts are a bit different on the seasickness, i have always heard the key is to prevent it, once it hits it's harder to relieve it then prevent it in the first place. i figure we have spent far too much cashola on this trip to fret about unncessarily medicating for a week. not to knock anyone who prefers not to drug-up, i'm just that way for some things i guess. My DDs have taken Bonine everyday on the two cruises we took, the first one my youngest would've been about 7 yrs. I had asked her rheumatologist which was ok and she wasn't specific on brands. I like the Bonine b/c it's once a day and non-drowsy. if you are inclined to go that route, maybe your pediatrician would give the ok for it too? i always thought the OTC meds were pretty simliar. and yes, the med center has single packets of meclazine in a wall-organizer thing just outside the medical office. when we cruised it was stocked full and free for the taking. it is regular make you sleepy type med.

jenni -- have fun with it!! i'm getting my hair braided and i'm almost 35 :goodvibes

i have a church mtg tonight, how hard will it be to concentrate?? very very!!

Hi everyone! Sorry, I've been stalking the boards over the last few weeks too busy to jump in. I just wanted to say how excited we are getting! We picked up our cruise documents today! It's hard to believe it's finally here :cool1:

I am in the process of trying to get my boys (12&9) packed! The 12 yr old thinks 3 pairs of shirts, his swim trunks and a few t-shirts and he's good to go! It's times like this I wish I had girls........at least they care what they look like!!

This is our 3rd cruise and I will tell you from experience...pack what you need and take at least half out....you will not wear it! Our first cruise, I packed dresses and really cute outfits and never wore them. I also packed dress clothes for the boys, then ages 5&8, they went to dinner with us maybe 2x out of the whole week. The rest of the nights, they were too busy to eat with us and loved going to the buffet with all the kids! All the planning and they never got dressed up.

Also, for the ladies. Keep in mind that by the middle of the week after all those tropical drinks, wonderful meals, great desserts and sitting in the sun some of those fitted outfits you plan on bringing WONT FIT!!!! :scared:

Sorry for the novel!

Just a quick thought.....my daughter gets very motion sick in the car and we were really worried about seasickness. She needed medication on the plane, but was totally fine on the boat. Go figure......

Wendy

hey wendy -- that reminds me

do you work for a PBS station? just asking b/c our old neighbor was a producer for the Columbus PBS station, it always seemed like a way cool job

:welcome: trings!!! not a novel, are you kidding :teeth:

and you are sooo right, my boarding day capris are just such b/c they are already bordering on snug! why didn't i lose that 5 lbs? and my Friday Apr 27chocolate brown skirt has an good size gap! woohoo!!!

hey wendy -- that reminds me

do you work for a PBS station? just asking b/c our old neighbor was a producer for the Columbus PBS station, it always seemed like a way cool job
!

I do work for a PBS station and it is a great job. I have worked there long enough that they are very flexible with my schedule which is so helpful with my kids....they are at that age where, even though they are older, they need me around more. Not to mention they need to be driven everywhere.:moped: I think that I will get a taxi sign on the car -- I'm sure all of you can feel that pain.

Wendy

What a shocker when you get home and try to pull them Levis on again!!!! Ahhh but every pound is worth it!!!!

We are going to be on this cruise. I have 3 kids dd (11) dd (8) ds (3). I just thought I would check out this site as we are trying to prepare! We have not received any documents yet. Should I be concerned??

Trings: THIS is a Novel!!!:rotfl2:
ps: I tried the packing thing with only taking 1/2 of what I need but its not working for me. I look at the pile that I put aside and think, Well, maybe I will need this and maybe I'll need that and it ends up in my suitcase again. I give up. It is a good thing we are driving, we don't need to worry about the weight limit on luggage :)
Lucky you, Cyndi! I hope you have a safe and fun trip down; driving is so much fun:goodvibes
We are going to be in Florida before the cruise and after so I have to pack little extra(or maybe I just should do laundry,:scared1: )plus finding and packing dress clothes is really throwing me off, I never bring dress clothes on vacation to Florida. So another question I have do they have irons that you can use or do people send out their dress clothes out to be ironed if need be?
Hi Cheryl, I agree with the dress clothes situation....I would just do laundry. Whenever we're down in Orlando, I do a load of laundry every night.
They do have irons on the ship in the laundry room, but you might have to wait on line. I would just go through the luggage when you embark and give your room attendant whatever needs to be pressed. They'll have it in your room the next day - of course, it's not free, but it's not that expensive, I think half of what it would be to dry clean it. Not sure of the prices....
, now because of that dream, I'll probably check 2,710,344 times before we leave

Amanda, did your fingers do the walkin' when you typed out that number, or are you really going to check 2,710,344 times?

So we asked him, did you eat Chloe's easter bunny and he said in his little deep voice, "YES, and it was so tasty." It was so hard not to laugh. Jenni
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Wow, purple streaks? That is COOL!!!!! Get it, I wanna see it!
I got my hair permed last Friday and I also plan on taking the girls with me for a pedicure next Thursday afternoon, after their orthodontist appointment.

I'm bringing dresses every night for dinner. I like dresses; I don't wear them much during the winter, so in the warm temps I like wearing them.
At one time, my boss prohibited us from wearing pants of any sort to work!!
She was old-school...
She opened the school back in the late 60's; in fact, it's as old as I am :rotfl:
Can you imagine wearing a dress or skirt every day to work, even in the sub-zero weather?

The girls are wearing dresses five out of the seven nights.
Ed's wearing slacks - dockers or dress pants.
He's a Metro, but don't tell him I said so:laughing: Mike is, too.
He knows it....In fact, he tells me what to wear. He can't take my Puerto Rican fashion style sometimes:banana:

Uh-oh, if Eric sees Chris and Justin in jeans, I'll be in trouble!!! He'll give me this "I told you I could wear jeans" look. Maybe I'll sneak a pair in the suitcase just in case. :rotfl:
Cyndi
Good Idea, Cyndi!!!!! That's Smart Thinkin'! Just don't forget to let your husband know that You Were Totally Thinking of His Comfort!

Ummm ... that would be me. :rolleyes1 couldn't help but point out that we were in the Bermuda Triangle. Everyone around us gave me this look or verbally communicated their disgust at me. It was great!!! :lmao:
My kinda guy!:lmao:
OMG - that's my DH!! He'll do things like, come out of a crowded restaurant, where they're famous, for example, for crab legs. And, he'll say, "I can't believe that they're out of crab legs. How can that happen??" Or, riding the monorail out of WDW saying, "I can't believe that the Magic Kingdom was shut down". He's a nut?!?!? And loves to get a rise out of me, or anyone else for that matter.:lmao:
So's He!!!:lmao:

I know a lot of you guys are celebrating your 10th anniversary....Me and Ed celebrated our 15th on 3/6:cheer2:
We only knew each other six months before we married.
Could you imagine your kid goin' and marrying some guy they only knew
for six frigin' months!

Molli, I wasn't planning on packin' the sneaks - Can I walk barefoot? (I'm not kidding!) Okay, maybe I'll pack the sneaks!

Welcome Trings!!!! My 13 DD is our tomboy....It's like pulling teeth making her look presentable!
And by no means is your post a novel! Now mine on the other hand:rolleyes1
and my Friday Apr 27chocolate brown skirt has an good size gap! woohoo!!!

Molli, you name your clothes?!?!

We are going to be on this cruise. I have 3 kids dd (11) dd (8) ds (3). I just thought I would check out this site as we are trying to prepare! We have not received any documents yet. Should I be concerned??

Welcome Buzzlightyear!
We still don't have our documents either I just found out today that DCL sent them to TA...
Did you use a TA?
I called TA and they said they have only received 2 out of the 6 families sailing....
What the heck!?!?!
AND our TA is on vacation this week...
Doesn't she know we're going away next week???
Her partner doesn't want to touch any of her stuff.
I called her partner yesterday to see if she could get us the APL dining rotation with y'all
and she did say that she put a request in, which surprised me that she even did THAT!
So Buzzlightyear, I would call TA or DCL and ask them, 'Sup?

Tonight I took a test in my psychology class....
Not kidding the test was on STRESS!!!
It's a large class, and when I finished my test it was just me and two other students -
we finished at the same time. I told my prof. that I'm going on vacation and it's stressing me out!
In fact, I am getting depressed...I really am

(Oh, boo hoo, Poor Corryn, she's all depressed because she's goin' on a Disney Cruise...Hey everyone, feel sorry for Poor Baby Corryn!!!)

No, but really. Last night I couldn't sleep. Today I couldn't study. I've been acting SUPER GOOFY at work...
I'm flying off the handle at the kids.. Eddie was trying to fix the dishwasher while I was studying today -
he put Liquid Plumr in it and it still wouldn't drain. We turned it on and then the whole house smells like Liquid Plumr and there's suds EVERYWHERE!
Liquid Plumr suds! On my laminate floor! Eddie takes my Disney beach towels (princess one, no biggie, but My Villians Towel is Bleached out now! !!)

Oy Vey! I have a A&P test on Saturday morning (I've been studying for two weeks for that one), I just have a lot on my plate and I'm trying to handle it gracefully. Thank God Ed can tolerate me. He made dinner tonight, last night we got Chinese. He's good like that.

But seriously, I get depressed before going away. It's very stressfull. A lot of cashola is being spent, I want everything to be perfect, I'm "One Of Those".

I really don't talk about the cruise to anyone except Kathy and SIL/MIL because they're all going.
I don't like to talk about it with my co-workers because they have to pick up My slack while I'm gone...
I don't want to talk about it with the students because they're in school so they'll be able to go on vacations - I don't want to "rub it in their faces" you know?
I don't want to talk about it with my sisters because they're also not in the position to go on vacation now.
In fact, my baby sister is due with her third baby while we're away....
She has two already and THEY WERE BOTH BORN WHILE WE WERE ON DISNEY VACATIONS:rotfl:

I told her, Stop Having Babies!
She said, Stop Going To Disney, Dammit!

I'm sorry, I'm just venting. I should be doing work for work right now.
I haven't even finished the door signs either. and I need my house speck and span before I go away and since I'm working days
and schooling nights, I don't know when I'll get the time
(Oh, FUNNY!!! I just wrote Sp*ck and Span and it came up ***** and span!!!!! Hey, I'm P.R. If I want to write SP**k then lemme write it!!!!)

Kyra's making fun of me because I want to sing a Weird Al parody of It Wasn't Me at Karaoke Night!!

Someone, Please, Someone Buy Me a Double Strawberry Daquiri!!

Molli-thanks for the info, thats what I thought about getting ahead of the seasickness. did/do you give your kids children's Bonine or the adult kind, I have been looking and can't find Bonine in children's strength but I did find another brand and I think the box said take every 4 hours, I would like the once a day much better. I did ask my Pediatrician and he told me just children's strength did say a certain brand, so maybe I'll keep looking. Thanks for the info about the pills at the Med office knowing that its the sleepy kind I think I'll bring my own, I don't want to sleep away my cruise.

Cheryl

Hi Cheryl,
It's just me and you, huh?
I'm sorry I can't reply to your question on the meds. But Kathy is a pharmacist and I'll ask her tomorrow about it if you would like.

BTW, did anyone know that on our Key West day it is
THE CONCH REPUBLIC DAY!?
It is an honest to goodness holiday, and we'll be there for it!
I just have to check the website to see if they're going to have any specific festivities.
Also, There's a New Margaritaville in Cozumel on Calle 11 overlooking Port.
I get a newsletter about Cozumel once a week.
thisiscozumel.com
It has a ton of info on Cozumel. It's run by locals in the tourism industry.

All right, I finished my work work and I have got to take these contact lenses out of my eyes...they feel like manhole covers!

Good night!:cloud9: Don't let the bedbugs bite...BTW, how'd that turn out?

Corryn

I guess it was just us, right after I posted I was off to bed so I'm back again this morning..

Thanks for the help on the sea sickness meds, please do ask Kathy for me. I probally won't need anything and both the kids will be fine but I'm thinking I should have "all my ducks in a row" just in case you never know...

Well I'm off to get ready so I can drop off my little guy at pre-school so I can come home and make a dent in my sorting/packing and of course cleaning. Why does it seem so much work sometimes to get ready for vacation?

Cheryl

O H ~ Y E A H !!
MY GIRLS WENT BACK TO SCHOOL TODAY!!!
:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
I'm thinking that was a source for my stress these past two weeks....They've been home from school! I love my girls:love: you all know what I mean....

Questions:
Are the hair braiding Appointments still done right after the deck party and where?

Also, as soon as you board, then you go to guest services and sign up for the tastings and Palo, or do you wait to do that?

See you all later - Have a good day everyone and have fun packing, Cheryl:goodvibes

You know what Emily said? "I want to get on the airplane and go hiiiiiiiigh in the sky, and go see the Princesses." ;)
So, Amanda, I assume this means that you have told Emily about the trip. :yay: How excited was she? I bet she can't wait for her real "Princess Party!"

We have docs! We have docs!

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Not like it's a big stack of fun stuff or anything, :sad2: but they arrived yesterday. I laughed when I saw the lime green luggage tags - look, it's just for the DISers. ;) Are everyone's lime green? Anyway, I filed it all in my accordian file, so we'll be set.

About the sea sickness - we're taking Bonine, the less drowsy chewables. I can't find the children's version anywhere. I'm also going to check for Sea Bands, just in case. DH has been talking with some "friends" and they all tell him how sick he's going to be. Uuuugggghh! I keep reminding him most people said they might feel it the first night and that's it. After all, it's a BIG ship, and we're not traveling in hurricane weather. I will take some meds just in case, but I'm not spending time worrying about it. :thumbsup2
