April 21, 2007 -- Western Magic -- anyone?

Hi Everyone,
It feels like I haven't been on here in ages. I have a question for those experienced cruisers...how much cash do you bring with you? Also, do you tip with cash or credit card??

Tx

We don't bring much cash at all on the cruise. We only bring enough for porter tips, room service tips and postage on Castaway Cay, with a bit extra for just in case. Otherwise, everything goes on our shipboard account, including tips.

Does anyone know if Captain Marvin's (or anyone else) does just an excursion to Stingray City without making 2 or 3 other stops for snorkeling? We would love just a quick trip to the rays without being gone for so long. DS5&3 probably won't be able to snorkel, so those extra stops would make DH & me jealous watching everyone else snorkel but us!

Hey Val - we're going to do the Capt Marvin's short excursion that makes only 1 snorkeling stop (which me and the girls won't get off for, but DH will), then right over to Stingray City. Our plan is to book the 8:30am excursion, since the morning is when the girls are the best, and you're back by 11:00am, enough time to get back for lunch. Maybe if we're together, we can give each other moral support, and the kids will have someone to interact with (besides their siblings).

And, another thing, once you leave the Capt Marvin's office, it's about a 15 minute bus ride over to the boat and back, so that takes a 1/2 hour off the total time. And, another thing, the Capt Marvin's staff was really great with us the last time we brought Emily (she was only 2 at the time). We even have pictures of her "driving" the boat with the Captain. Come on, join us, it'll be fun!!!!

It does sound like fun!! I thought I saw on their website that they only had 3- and 4-stop excursions. I must have missed that one! Do you remember the cost? Everything about it sounds just perfect for us, too. Morning is also our best time so it should make it a pretty fun time (plus being with other kids that they will probably be playing with in the club). And back in time for lunch on the ship! :woohoo: I'll let DH know when he gets home tonight and see what he thinks. We weren't going to plan anything at the ports but just go with the flow to see where it takes us, but I didn't want to miss out on Stingray City either! Hudson isn't so sure about the rays, though. I tried to tell him they are just like Mr. Ray on Finding Nemo, but he's still questionable...but I want to do it!

Thanks so much! That just answered almost all the other questions I had! Well, except two...is Waterfront Centre where the tender boat takes you? (I think I read that you tender at GC.) Do they take you on a shuttle to the boat or is it a taxi? I've heard the taxi rides can be kind of :scared1:

Waterfront Centre is a couple of blocks from where we tender in at Grand Cayman. It's a short walk, maybe 5-10 minutes. Then, they take you in a shuttle (like a mini-bus) over to the boat dock.

Hi everyone!!

:welcome: to Nancyr100!!! Ohmom--prayers for Taylor and DH. Don't worry, they will be fine for the trip!!

Yesterday DH and I did some packing. We got together outfits and have them in our spare bedroom. They are just waiting to go into the suitcase.

Its getting more and more exciting  !

We booked the Jeep excursion--anyone else looking into that? We thought it sounded fun. I posted for opinions on the main board and it got a big thumbs up :thumbsup2 !

Have a great day!

Good morning everyone!

I just saw this bit of info on the "main" cruise board, and it worked for me! :cool1: The question was if you could tell by logging into Disney, what your dining time will be. The reply was:

At the bottom of that page after you pull up your reservation, there are spaces where you can enter email addresses and send a copy of the reservation to someone. Email a reservation to yourself. The dining time should be on the email.

So, I tried it, and the email told me what time we would be eating. So if you're wondering too, give it a shot. :thumbsup2

Ok, I gave it a try and it says 6:00pm. Now, my understanding was that this will only say 6:00pm for Main seating and 8:30pm for Late seating, and that you won't truly know your dining time until you get your KTTW card. So, I'd be interested to hear if anyone is coming up with other times like the 5:30pm/5:45pm/6:00pm or 8:00pm/8:15pm/8:30pm. Or, is the web still just giving us the basic dining times (which are actual just the old times, before they did the staggered times).

That's what I was wondering....if it broke it down or not? Not that 1/2 hour really makes a lot of difference. ;)

No, it really doesn't matter too much. The biggest thing is that if you could find out your specific time, then you could figure out your actual rotation by looking at old Navigators.

Val - I didn't notice until just now - you have sig photos! :thumbsup2

I love those tie-dye Mickey shirts. They are great!! I saw the directions here somewhere before. I want to make some type of Princess birthday shirt for DD to wear - but the last time I tried ironing on my design, it just didn't look all that great. I need to search online a bit more & just let the pros do it!

Completely off topic here but I wanted to show you the shirts I made for our cruise last year. I thought they turned out great, my DH thought we looked dorky in our "matching" shirts. Actually they didn't match, I used different colors for mine & my DS. I don't know if you can tell but it's a tie dyed Mickey head. We wore them onto the ship.
If anyone is crafty I can try to find the directions...

That's cute!! I like the way that the main shirt is still white (the Mickey stands out more). I actually had a friend make them for all 4 of us for our cruise back in 2005. Somewhere I have a picture of all of us on Castaway Cay in our "matching" shirts. DH is pretty agreeable to pretty much anything that I give to him to wear.

You've trained him well. :rotfl:
Well, he's not very fashion-wise, so he usually asks me if something matches anyway. So, when we're on vacation, and he doesn't pack (EVER!!!), then he wears what I've packed for him to wear. And, unless it's a chicken suit or hot pink, he'd probably be ok with it.

He sounds a lot like my DH. Every Sunday morning, he'll say "does this match?" I can guarantee it! Thankfully he wears a casual uniform at work, so we don't have that issue daily.

I bought some tropical shirts for DH last summer, to wear on this cruise. One is yellow - I'd say a bit bright - considering what he usually wears. I showed them to him, and he said "fine, I don't mind, I'll be on vacation" I couldn't believe it. He will not wear shades of pink or purple anything though. ;)
