April 21, 2007 -- Western Magic -- anyone?

we enjoyed TC last Nov. we'll probably hit all the shows except for movie night -- Dad have you looked at past cruise Navigators to get an idea of the entertainment options? i'm not sure if they post them on the regular DIS site? i know you can view them at www.castawayclub.com

I got your PM Dad and i will add you to the list, thought i'd wait a day or so and see if anyone wants added to our group info sheet?

We are definately going to the Wine and martini tasting. I'd like to do the wine tasting second sea day if we all plan on signing up for the same one? the reason b/c there appears to only be one martini tasting on sea day 1. we just reserved our wine tasting at the Excursion desk (i'm pretty sure) but for sure we have to wait ;( -ETA -- just checked the latest posted Western Navigators which shows:

Day one at sea: Margarita and Wine tasting (seperate) from 2 - 3 p.m.; Martini tasting from 4 - 5 p.m.; then listed as Pub Master Mystery (i think it's small) is that the beer tasting? no that must be something different as i read on

Day two at sea: Margarita and Wine tasting (sepearte) from 2 - 3 p.m.; Beer tasting from 4 - 5 p.m.

my plan will be to go to Excursion desk/Guest Services as soon as possible to get our wine/martini tasting reservations and make Tea with Wendy reservations for DD Paige (10) and myself; and also a hair braiding appt.

for movies we should have Bridge to Tarabithia and Meet the Robinsons, they will both be released by then. DH isn't sure if he can wait until April to see Bridge :) i always say i'm going to watch a couple movies then i can't seem to pull myself away from other things to go see one. DDs always hit a few though

Does anyone know what shows are scheduled for our cruise?

day 1 - Welcome Aboard - Cruise Casual dress
Day 2 - Gary Deluna - (0ther Disney Guest performer) cruise casual dress
Day 3 - Golden Mickeys - Formal night
Day 4 - Twice Charmed - Cruise Casual
Day 5 - Pirates of the Caribbean night - cruise casual or pirate dress
Day 6 - Dreams - cruise casual
Day 7- Remember the Magic - Cruise Casual

Hope this helps!

We are new to disboards -- there is great and helpful information here. I have a question. We are thinking of booking the dolphin excursion in Cozumel on our own. Has anyone ever done it on their own? Is it easier and more convienent? Any other suggestions for Cozumel? There DH 40, Me 37, DS 16, DS 14, and DD 11.

Thanks!

:welcome: mickymania to our cruisin' gang! you are right, disboards are a fantastic way to learn the ins and outs and tips of DCL :)

we booked at www.dolphindiscovery.com for the royal dolphin swim. i don't have prior experience with this company as this is our first time to Cozumel; but i have read good reports on the boards here. I don't know if that it's easier or more convenient, DCL makes it very convenient to book excursions through them, and you have the added insurance of the ship not leaving if you have a later excursion but it's booked through DCL. if you book on your own make sure you allow plenty of time. We are booked for swims at 2 p.m. We booked on our own b/c DCL doesn't offer an actual swim, just dolphin encounter.

sourmug -- one of those nights would be semi-formal? thursday i believe without checking

day 1 - Welcome Aboard - Cruise Casual dress
Day 2 - Gary Deluna - (0ther Disney Guest performer) cruise casual dress
Day 3 - Golden Mickeys - Formal night
Day 4 - Twice Charmed - Cruise Casual
Day 5 - Pirates of the Caribbean night - cruise casual or pirate dress
Day 6 - Dreams - cruise casual
Day 7- Remember the Magic - Cruise Casual

What about semi-formal and tropical nights? Does anyone know anything about Gary Deluna--comedian? magician? other? Thanks!

Val

Tropical night is now the Pirate night.
Gary Delena is a comedian/musician- very hilarious. He does the family show one night and an adult show another night. My DS thought that he should be nominated for a Golden Mickey, he was very funny!

Who is wearing tuxedos? I am trying to decide. I am also wondering if I should rent one for my DS who will be 7.

Side Bar - Is there anyone out there who has kids around 7. My son is very, very, very, very shy. I am trying to get him into some of the kids programs. Did I mention he is shy. He may like it better if he makes a friend or two first.

He will open up to any kids who like to talk pokemon , any games on nintedo ds, game cube or about animals, from insect to reptiles to amphibians to mammals.

My son is 7 as well and loves all things Mario. If we didn't limit his play he would be on his DS and GameCube all day and night. Would love to get them connected before the cruise. Maybe trading emails?

bluefalconer -- my DD has her own username -distinkerbelle - and she started a thread for kids of this cruise to chat http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1346123

she's 10 and just got a DS for christmas; and both my DDs are animal lovers at heart ::yes::

no tuxedo for my DH --sorry Bill -- but if he owned one i'm sure he'd take it. you will not stand out as being over dressed by any means so if that is something you and DS would get a kick out of and have fantastic pictures -- go for it!

Hi Bill - my DH will be wearing his tux for the cruise. He has Mickey vests for it, so he likes wearing them on the cruise!!! Plus, he looks very handsome!!!

As for your son, my DD is 5 1/2 and she's shy in the beginning, but is very social and friendly. And, she LOVES the club, so you can count on her being in there in the 5-7 group. So, maybe they can try to meet towards the beginning.

Just bought a black suit for DH to wear (he needed it anyway). I wasn't sure if a "mickey vest" or goofy tie would be appropriate to wear - don't know the etiquette, but sounds great. Think I will get that GOOFY tie for him to wear after all.

Any one know about the town Hell in Grand Cayman? Good bad indifferent?:confused3 Not many reviews.

OHMOM, you said someting about signing up when you board the ship for the wine tasting, can you go to that desk and see what is upcoming to sign up in advance? Do you have to pre-register for most of the classes - the tour of the ship, the cooking/decorating classes?

Have a great Monday everyone! :cheer2:

DH doing a suit with button down shirt and tie. No tux for him. We also want to do the wine tasting.

Cyndi

I asked DH again if he wanted a tux or not. You should've seen the look he gave me. :lmao: Guess not!

He is taking a couple of jackets & ties though. He rarely dresses up, except for church sometimes - so I can understand not wanting to go all out. As for me, I don't care either way. I dress up sometimes for work, and other times more business casual. I have mostly work type clothes picked, except for formal night.

It won't be long before that ticker goes to 1 month and a few days. :woohoo: Can't believe it's finally getting closer!

Thanks for the info everybody about formal night. I still do not know if I am doing the tux thing.

I am thinking about the cruise more and more. Especially since a foot of snow is coming our way Wednesday.

Hi everyone:goodvibes

And a big Hello to the Newbies:cheer2:
BTW, how did you Newbies find the DIS? Just curious....I found it through a search engine...AND I'm Soooo Glad I did!!! I used to get sleep before I found the DIS, but now...
SleepyWeb.jpg

I'm gonna put this on one of my door signs...I love it!

Anyway, as far as my TA goes: I was able to get the reservations I wanted. But we were not able to get Palo. I called DCL and they told me that I have to make a reservation for 12 as soon as I board the ship. They said that each party can make a reservation, but they can only reserve a table for themselves, so my MIL would have to reserve a table for two, and I would have to reserve a table for two and SIL would....and so on and so on..
But when I logged on, all tables for Palo were taken.

My DH said since we were able to get the ressies for excursions, not to say anything to TA. I'm still thinking about what to do. I think it's important I let the TA know that I am aggravated with her not knowing the protocol for Castaway Club members....

As far as shopping or packing or anything like that goes, we've done nadamente! Between school and work and all the work I bring home from work:eek: I haven't got a chance yet. I'll be doing it probably mid March or so...

We're all doing the Martini and Beer tasting, the gameshows with the kids and I will be doing my absolute favorite, THE RAINFOREST Spa! You'll see me there every night before dinner. I spend about an hour and a half in there.I relax, take a shower with the wonderful rose and eucalyptus/mint infused water, do my hair and then waltz down to my cabin to get dressed for dinner. That is what I call Relaxing!

We're going to do XCaret...I've been reading all about it all over the web, and here, and we keep going back and forth, but now we are sure we're going to do it. Is anyone else going to do it?
There's also something that is an all-day excursion that involves the Zip Lines (which is awesome!!!) but it's two hours there and two hours back. That's too long for travel time.

We have been watching the DVD's of our last Disney Cruise and I get Chills when I watch it!!! I can't wait!!!!!:woohoo:  :woohoo:

I found out about Dis boards from someone's post on cruise critic. With as much as I love Disney, I can't believe that I have missed this over the years. It is nice to be with my "own kind". We are so excited for this trip. Of course, it is probably a tie for the most excited between myself and my 16-year old. He even gets to go to Disneyland in early April --- yes I am jealous. Is anyone going to WDW before the cruise?

Welcome mickymania!!!

Count me in for the excitement!!

We are going to WDW after the cruise.

It's snowing outside now. Expecting 6-10 inches. Just thinking about CC!

Cyndi

I'm definitely getting excited for this cruise. The last few cruises that we have taken have been 4 days, so we're really looking forward to spending 7 long, relaxing days on the Magic!!

Take care with all that snow everyone!! Be safe, and sweet dreams of CC.

Happy Valentine's Day everybody!!

I can't wait 2 plus more months. :hourglass

I found out about the DIS from my mother, who also is a Dinsey nut. It must be genetic. She is such a nut that she loves to plan Disney trips for her friends. It is eating her up that she is not going on the cruise.

Cyndibear, we have your snow now. We are suppose to get 12-18 inches in my area. In other areas of our state it could be up to 30 inches.

When I signed us up for our first cruise, I signed up for the 3 day Wonder. I am a commando style Disney traveler and must be getting in as much as possible, so I was worried about boredom. Well I was wrong about boredom. There was so much to do, there was no way to fit it all in. So alas the seven day cruise. I can see 10-14 day repo cruise in our future.
