Finally got the entire family (12 of us) to agree and commit to dates for a Disney Trip. Just peeked at airfare for April 2026 and I am in shock! I know it’s school vacation week, but oh my goodness. Do we bite the bullet and panic buy now, or wait and see if prices go down? We are flying from PVD to MCO on 4/19 and hoping to return either 4/25 or 4/16.

Unfortunately we can’t take the grandkids out of school to be able to go at any other time.

If the whole group of 12 is flying together on the same flight I would call the airline and inquire about group travel (no personal experience with that; I just know it’s a thing).

Otherwise, based on my experience of trying to get cheaper flights around school break times from DEN to MCO, decide if you’re willing to fly on red-eyes/the earliest flights and latest flights, or if you’re willing to break the large group into “sub-groups.”

Early and late flights might drop in price.
Smaller groups might be able to get lower fares, so at least it’s not the whole group paying exorbitant prices. Maybe the group would be willing to split the difference among themselves. Booking in “sub-groups” though means that in case of delay, the whole party of 12 runs a higher risk of being split up into different flights, though maybe that’s already a risk even with group fares; can be hard to rebook 12 people on the same flight, I imagine.

Good luck!

I am going to call at least JetBlue today to see about group rates. We already have sub groups flying in from a different airport. It’s just the overall price even for 1 traveler that is crazy. TY for your suggestions. 🙏

We'll be looking for a group rate too for April to attend my niece's wedding, but it's for the end of April, so I don't foresee much of a problem.

I feel like I must sound like an influencer shill but the Hopper app’s price prediction algorithm is pretty solid. I use that in conjunction with Google Flights to track prices and figure out when to book (always directly with the airline).

JetBlue often has flash sales so it’s worth signing up for their emails if you don’t already get them.

When/where you are traveling matters when trying to shop for the best prices. MCO is a popular travel destination year-round so even if many airlines service where you fly from, they are all competing for the same customers. If you plan to travel around a major holiday, the best fares will likely sell out months in advance. Airlines have little incentive to offer discounts if the planes will already be booked with those traveling during those periods.

I totally understand that. My husband and I are AP holders and DVC members. We travel to Orlando a lot. I just have never seen airfare so high.

Thank you. I will check out the Hopper app.

We regularly fly PVD-MCO during April vacation and I've never seen it go down in price. If flying out of Manchester, NH is an option- check that. NH school vacation is the following week so sometimes flights are a bit cheaper than PVD or BOS
