April 2022 Anyone?

My stay at GF in April not showing anything available for the Discount? Anyone else have success with GF or any other monorail resorts?

Polynesian isn’t and I can’t get beach/yacht for my time either.

I got a pin code sent to my older email address, but little was available for our late April dates. No Monorail resorts at all from what I remember. I was tempted by CSR Club Level, but not enough to make a switch. Our Poly stay is already paid off, so I’m sticking with it!

Just switched from WL to GDT April 27-May 2. I hated to move from WL, but we saved $1,000 so it had to be done. This will be our first time at GDT so hopefully we will enjoy it.
GDT seems so great! We had a reservation there in March 2020 before, well, you know … but it’s next on my list.

And congrats on the discount, of course!

I just moved from AKL to GDT, my dates are similar to yours, 4/25 - 5/3, saved over $500 with the AP discount.

That being said, I'm already thinking there's a good chance I may switch back to AKL before I go, AKL is my go to resort, I just love the resort. On the flip side, I've never stayed at GDT, so who knows, maybe I'll stay there, LOL!

I’ve never stayed at AKL, it looks amazing.. I’ve always wanted to, but I’m just a MK girl at heart. I actually picked GDT when I decided to change resorts because I saw where you can watch the MK fireworks from the water view rooms. I do watch them in person on my MK days (and yes, I cry like a big baby every single time šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø) but on other park days that have shorter hours, I love to be able to watch them from my room.
Last night I saw that there will be cheer competitions going on during our entire visit and they will be staying at Coronado Springs, so now I’m wondering if I need to change resorts again. My hubby says no, it’ll be fine because we don’t really spend a lot of time at the resort. But if they are going to be taking over the pool area or the dining options if we wanted to eat there, it may not be worth staying there for us. We are going for our 20th anniversary so I’m not sure what to do now. I guess I’ll be deciding what to do over the next few weeks.

Congrats on your anniversary, disneylover81! I don’t think you can go wrong with GDT (from what I’ve read, the resort’s food court is the only weakness), but have you also considered the fireworks view rooms at Wilderness Lodge?

I would guess the cheer groups would mostly use the food court. There are a few sit down restaurants there! GDT is a lovely resort.

Thank you !! Yes, we actually normally stay at the Wilderness Lodge in the fireworks view rooms. They are my favorite. We only booked at GDT this time because my hubby thought it would better to switch from WL to GDT because it was saving us $1000. As for me, I’d rather spend the $1,000 and stay at WL. However, I did just come back from my 40th birthday girls trip 6 months ago that cost me quite a bit so I let him talk me into it. (On a side note…That birthday trip was amazing, we originally booked at the CR TPV room, but then got the best pixie dust upgrade to GF Main Building TPV room on the CL floor. It was a dream come true to stay there and the best birthday surprise ever!) I don’t normally get two Disney trips in a year’s time so I’m trying to be more budget friendly for my hubby. I admit it’s a struggle for me though. I’m sure GDT will be just fine and wonderful once we are there. It really does look lovely.

You are probably right and it’ll be fine. I’ve just never stayed in a resort with them so I just wasn’t sure what it will be like with so many teenagers running around there.

Yes, I totally get it, we are trying to do two trips this year, too, and we’re planning for French Quarter for the second trip for very similar reasons!

That is extremely cool about your pixie dust upgrade, for the record, and I’m sure you’ll love GDT! To me, WL, AKL, and GDT all have a similar magic, something about the lighting and pool combination that’s just perfectly themed and magical. šŸ˜€

I have made several changes since this morning to my reservation… started out 4/27-5/2 at GDT. Last night I talked my husband into staying longer so I made the change to 4/23-5/2. My son is also bringing my grandson for his 2nd birthday. So I called SWA to add my grandson to the flight (he’s under 2 so can fly for free). But then I found out since he will actually turn 2 on May 1st and we weren’t coming back until May 2nd, my son would have to buy him a plane ticket to come back home. So that was no good. Then I had to convince my son to just come home April 30th so he could still fly free. I understand he wanted him to be there for his ā€œactualā€ birthday, but he’s 2 and he won’t know the difference ! There was no point in buying him a $200 ticket ! So I had to change all of our flights and our WDW dates again. Now we are booked at GDT 4/23-4/30. Hopefully there will be no more changes ! On the plus side though, since we are traveling on Saturday’s now, we will be able to take nonstop flights with no layovers šŸ™ŒšŸ»

Our dining day is Saturday, and I’m doing a friend’s on Sunday. No idea what I’m going for yet! Interested to hear how dining is going for others this week.

My day was this past Sunday. I was online at 5:30 am with tabs open for each restaurant, logged in and ready to go. I started refreshing at 5:45 but nothing opened until 6:00. By 6:30 I got everything I wanted at the times I wanted:
CRT, BOG, Chef Art Smith, Sanaa, Space220 Lounge, Via Napoli, Brown Derby, Mama Melrose, Beaches & Cream, Ale & Compass, Kona CafƩ, Boma, Liberty Tree Tavern, and Le Cellier, all for parties of 2 except I'm on my own for CRT, Le Cellier, Mama Melrose and BOG. Easy peasy!

Thanks for letting us know! Mine is next Sunday (4/13) and I’m nervous!
