April 2, 2005 Magic-First DCL cruise-anyone going?

It didn't look like it was right across from the elevator..maybe the cabins on deck 8 are a little different. (8528) . Ickk..this may not have been a good cabin after all. Oh well..can't win them all. Got stuck in a room off the lobby of the Wilderness Lodge last WDW trip...boy the night they put up the christmas decorations..got very little sleep ! :(

I guess I'm one of the few who like their room near the elevator. I've never heard extra noise and it's so much more convenient instead of winding my way down the halls.

:wave2: Another vote for being close to the elevator. It is not so much an issue on the ship but in WDW, after walking in the parks all day, a long trek in the hotel to the room is a special form of misery.

I love all my relatives and would gladly cruise with them - - but if I was in charge of the bookings, mysteriously some would find their cabins to be on a different deck than me! For certain personality types, a little distance is a good thing.

LOL. Well believe it or not relatives will complain even if its free! Here it is 7 years after the horrendous WDW trip that I took my parents on. They swore never, ever to set foot in Florida again. The trip ended with my father very ill to boot! See how well that trip went! :guilty:

The cruise is my relax and prepare to deal with them time. I get to spend the week after the cruise at WDW once again with them. I love them but they can drive the sane entirely insane!

:rolleyes1:

Btw it does look like the decks are layed out different. Nope don't mind bearing near the elevators just prefer not right next door to them.

Understand about the relatives. :goodvibes

Got my docs today!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Now I've got to start packing.

Okay what dining rotation did everyone get? I was surprised I got the one I asked for...and the fact that I just realized it said it on the ticket

I'm on for a second seating.

We requested and got main/early seating for myself, DW, and DS 9. We did late seating on our first two DCL cruises, it got kinda late for the little guy(who was a couple years younger in all fairness), so we went for early dinner this time, and also did early on the last minute Wonder that we did in January. Personally, if it was just me and DW, we'd do the late seating, but it gives DS better flexibility for some of the oceaneer's lab scheduling, which seems more geared towards children eating early. I don't have any concerns about getting back to the ship and being in a rush for dinner too badly.

We had a very uncommunicative/unfun family seated with us in January, and it was enough of a downer that we requested just a small table for ourselves this go-round. That's not guaranteed, and we'd probably prefer having fun tablemates to no tablemates, but none is better than stiffs.

Is there a DIS meet designated for the 4/2 sailing? Trying to figure out what is the best day to wear my loud neon green DIS t-shirt that i just bought for this cruise.

We have late dining. I like going to the earlier show and then my kids like to excuse themselves after they finish eating while I stay talking with the other adults around the table. They can outlast me in staying up at night.

How about we meet at 3pm in the Promenade lounge the day of boarding? That should allow some time before having to leave around 3:30p or so for the 4pm boat drill. Just a suggestion.

We requested late. Eventhough my kids are young, I was afraid the little one would fall asleep during the shows. We can always eat out together so if they go to the clubs or fall asleep, no big loss. On the other hand, she loved Disney on Ice a couple of years ago and I think the Disney shows will be a big hit with her as well as the older one. 3:30 sounds fine, assuming I can find the Promenade Lounge!

We requested main and got it. I can hardly believe in just 15 days we will FINALLY be on the cruise. We are all so excited.

Where is everyone getting the lime green DIS shirts? I checked the Disney store by me and didn't see any. What do they say? Also, I'm leaving a week from tonight cause we are driving down to my parents in Florida first. They have internet access but sometimes it's very slow and/or I am very busy so of course I will check back here if possible for the latest info but I would like to know how we go about meeting everyone? My first DIS cruise :flower:

I guess I'm the only one on late dining. Lime green shirt? Okay I missed something. Where do you get those??

I'm down to 12 days to departure...or as I look at...7 days of work left....woohooo...

Anyone know how to make the snow stop???? I'm suppose to go to an appt 30 miles from here tomorrow. First system came through last night and today..about 10 inches, squirrely drive home too...we're suppose to pick up another 6 to possibly 10 tonight!!!!! Sunday is the first day of spring???? I want warm weather :hyper:

I think the lime green shirts are the ones sold here on the DIS. I'm the proud owner of a pair of lime green flip flops I bought from Old Navy - on sale - for 99 cents!

Our gang has late seating...My parents arent to thrilled with the idea....("Who would think of eating at 8p").. :scared1: ....lol.....

I dont think I will mind it, from what I hear....things seem more rushed with early seating...any comments about this?

Also, When/where do you find your dining rotation?

 Heather

:cheer2: Emily
princess: Sydney

Oh, they sell the Lime Green shirts on this board? Darn! It's probably too late to order it. I did check again at another Disney Store in a local mall and the girl said "no..no lime green shirts" Bummer.

I have no idea if main or late is better as far as seating and feeling rushed. I can imagine you may not seem as rushed for the later sitting but we are just early birds and I thought 8pm would be late for the kids to eat. I guess if it's rushed I just live and learn for the next time. Is anyone else planning on booking another trip onboard? We are discussing it now. I want to have a date in mind and price it prior to getting on the ship.

I know it keeps getting asked but are we planning a meet? How do we go about arranging it? I'm really new to all of this but it would be nice to meet everyone before I head off to seclusion to read my 20 novels I am bringing with me, LOL. My DH is already wondering if I'm going to spend anytime with him (I love reading but don't get to do it as often as I would like so when I go on vacation I cram in as many books as possible)

2 more weeks and we'll be sailing. :jumping1: I'm so excited and 5 more days till I leave for Florida. This is going to be like Christmas..you count down forever and the next thing you know it's Over :scared1:

8:30 was a little late for dinner for me but I learned at WDW last year that was the time I was eating anyway. Figure it gives me all sorts of time especially if I don't go to a show. Can do other things while folks are at shows and early dinner :) Won't be as crowded. Plus I can watch the sunset every night :cool2:

Actually I don't plan on rebooking, big reason being money right now. But this may be my only cruise anyway, at least to the caribbean. There are so many places I want to go and see and will start planning the next trip to one of these destinations probably for a couple years for now. I was thinking New Zealand but then I really got to thinking my aunt wont be around forever and I always wanted to see Alaska. That will probably be the next one :)

11 days to go....14 inches of new snow. What a way to welcome in spring. I hope mother nature is done with it now! :flower3:

Dining Rotation should be on your key to the world card and you have tickets in your cabin with it on it.
