April 2, 2005 Magic-First DCL cruise-anyone going?

greytlady - we're doing the Under 2 Flags Tour too! For St. Thomas we're going to do the St. John Island tour.

We are going to do the dolphin excursion in St. Marrteen and the Doubloon in St Thomas and the bananna boat at CC. I can't wait only 59 days to go!!!

I'm a compulsive planner...today I was thinking "Gee, I really out to get out the suitcases and start getting organized." :smooth:

I've had the suitcases out since Christmas! I actually had to empty one out this past weekend because I forgot my husband had to go out of town! My guess room has been cruise packing central. I should have nothing to do the week before the cruise but clean the house, get the dog groomed, get us "groomed", get money out of the bank and hit the road! I have planned and packed and replanned and repacked several times already!

Not a problem here, summer is out and winter is way clearanced! Bathing suits are plentiful

Here too Kristy (in Missouri) but the problem is I have to lose weight now!!! I guess I'll be shopping 2 days before I leave :rolleyes1 :worried:

58 Days..I can hardly believe it. Time is just flying. Oh, I so cannot wait to get out of the :cold: and into the :sunny:

Great BriarfoxinWA! I figured we'd be the only with that excursion so I'm glad to know there will be a familiar face in the group. :sunny:

We are flying in the night before and staying at an airport hotel. I want to maximize the amount of time we are on the ship so I would like to get to port and do the check-in reasonably early. But I don't need to participate in a stampede to be first to board. I have booked a van from Tiffany Towncar to shuttle us back and forth and said to pick us up at 9:30 AM to go the port. Is that too early?

Tiggerish - We did that on our last cruise. Left at 9:00 from a hotel at the airport. We ended up in the port at 10:00 and were one of the first in line. The only problem is that you will be part of that big stampede to board the ship. We were in line by 10:45 and had to wait until around noon to board. The line, by that time was really loooonnnngggg.

This time we're opting to leave from our WDW area hotel at 11. I figure we'll get there by noon. All reports I've heard said the line moves very quickly once it gets going. I'm just not interested in standing in line for hours this time...

They do have some characters to have pictures taken with while waiting. I remember Minnie in her cute sailor's outfit. Don't remember which others showed up.

We're getting closer! I bought a really cute pair of shorts to wear for the trip. Last time we had tons of clothes with us. Like everyone said, I should packed up then taken out half and it would have been about right. This time I think we're going to try to pack very light - since we always by a couple of t-shirts on vacation.

I don't know what to do on formal/semiformal night. I'm thinking about just taking a pair of black slacks and I have a lacy black and gold top and a black and silver top I could wear. Last time I went all out and had a formal long dress and a semi-formal dress but its such a pain....

What's everyone else doing?

I'm going to pack heavy, bring the tux, also bring a coat & tie or suit for semi-formal night, probably sportcoat so tha it will also be easy to use for Palo's. DW will dress up formal, but the most we can get out of DS is an oxford shirt, tie, and khakis. He will be 9 when we sail. Since the weather will be good and warm most all of the trip, every thing else that is not formal will be pretty casual and full of cotton, I expect, and in spite of the change from Tropical Night to Pirate Night, we'll be wearing our loud bright Hawaiian shirts. Should be a great cruise.

I have a simple cocktail dress that I plan to wear both semi-formal and formal nights and DH will wear a dark suit both nights. The girls have princess dresses if they decided to join us. We do have Tropical wear for pirate night and other than that we will wear khakis and maybe a casual dress here and there. Just not going to over do it. We are really just trying to make this about relaxing and enjoying the family time together with out too many hassles. I know that takes some of the fun out of it, but I'm OK with that.
Happy Valentine's Day!

I have the formal gown. (Actually getting it fitted tomorrow) and I have a nice dress for semi formal.

I sometimes wonder if just taking a trunk would be easier. Would have more room that way ! Of course I'm packing for two weeks down in florida plus 5 days worth of travel. I'm not a laundry person when I'm vacation either :p

5 people x 2 checked bags & 1 carry on each & at least two of us will also have a purse = 17 items to keep track of! That is also why redcap, bellman and porter tips are a line item in my budget.

My sister and I have evening gowns for the formal night and dressy outfits for semi-formal. My brother in law will use the tux we have convinced him to rent for both. The girls have dressy outfits that they will use for both.

I am an obssessive complusive planner - I have an envelope sized, plastic expanding file ($1 at Target) that already contains an envelope for each type of tipping situation or cash expense. The amount I anticipate needing is already written on the envelopes and I have a separate list of how many singles, fives, tens or twentys should go into each of the envelopes. The weekend before the cruise, will go to the bank and get the correct number of each type of currency and stuff the envelopes.

Then I give the whole thing to my sister because she is the responsible, level headed one - and will not lose them or accidently leave them at home. I have a BAD track record in that regard.

Tiggerish..

Want to come do my planning??? I swear everytime I start thinking about what I need money for on just hte cruise end the one thing that is always missing from the figures is parking fees! I have no idea why I continuelly forget to add that in!

Hey, where'd everybody go! Just giving us a little bump - we were buried way down the list and only have 45 days to go!

Haven't posted in while myself... Let's see excursions!... two for the 12 metre regatta (dad and DD12) two for butterfly tour (mom and DD4), and four for St John tour.

I'm here. Just bee on the "other side" trying to finalize some decisions about what to do on the islands, what not to miss for the kids, finalizing my packing list, buying all the odds and ends and keeping busy with basketball, baseball, softball, etc with the kids. I think I am starting to enter the panic stage with the number of days closing in. I think part of me is already depressed about coming back home!

Hey here you guys are :) I actually popped another thread open because for some reason I didnt see our thread anymore ! More than likely just blind as a bat :)

I've got the 12 metre regatta too :) Excited about that ! Have the bonine and sea bands with me. I'm going no matter what dagnabit! :)

I actually just put in for another excursion to st. john but haven't heard if I got it or not. Emailed this one . Will see if they answer shortly.

39 days till I drive out of here :) Woohoo..

OMG..You guys are totally freakin me out! I have not even thought of writing a list and buying things yet. Not to mention we are leaving on Good Friday driving down to Florida and spending the week with my parents before the cruise so I'm even that much more strapped. I have been so busy with everyday life but it's time to get serious. 41 days...eeeek. I'm so excited but I'm starting to worry I am not going to get things done. :sad2:

Just a quick pole... Who's dressing for the Pirate Deck party?? arghh...
