April 19, 2008 - Western - VERY Early Roll Call - Anyone??!!

Here's another question:

What about beach towels? Do we bring our own? Are there extra towels provided for around the pool or do we bring them out of our room? What about for getting off the ship? Does DCL provide towels for Castaway Cay or any other stops?

Thanks,

Frank

The Pope will be coming to NYC. He is arriving into JFK at 9:45am on Friday, April 18th. Anyone flying out of JFK that morning must plan accordingly. There will be flight delays and road closures. Probably a ton of security all around too. Just a heads up;)

The ship provides beach towels. You don't need to bring your own.:thumbsup2

How many pieces of luggage is everyone up to so far. I have 2 large, 1 medium, 1 small and 1 garment bag plus 2 carryon backpacks and I don't know if that is going to fit everything.

Denise aka Hypermommy: Could you please email me a copy of my showers of happiness family picture? With all my computer issues...I can not seem to find it.

Sent via email to your hvc addy. :goodvibes Let me know if you don't get it.

I wanted to look at the photos again - to match names with faces, :surfweb: but the link I have is your old one. Could you please tell us how to get to them.

Sent via email to your verizon addy. let me know if you don't get it. The link is the same as it used to be. I moved my site but I kept the same domain name so I made sure the link was the same. That'd be a rotten thing for me to do ... "here's pictures... nope, not there anymore." I guess you guys have got me pegged pretty good to think that I might do something like that. Remember I'm the original "b with an -itch" and quite proud of it! In fact, I took it to such a fine art when I was in my mid 20s that folks made it a part of my nickname. Ask me what RBD means (which I can't say here becuase it's a family board). :rotfl2: :cool1:

You know... he's an okay pope and everything (and still being nominally Catholic I pay attention to that kind of stuff) but he ain't no JPII. I can't imagine the kind of security and logistics nightmares you guys are going to have to face. Any of you guys that have to put up with this Catholic? Maybe you can get a special dispensation or something for having to deal with the logistical nightmare. :rotfl2: I know, I know... I'm going straight to hell... in fact, I'll just about be there this time next week + a day. But you know God has to have a sense of humor ... He just has to if He's going to deal with the human race on a regular basis. :rotfl2: :cool1: :rotfl2: :cool1:

Hey Joan,

I was just looking at the spreadsheet and trying to reconcile the number of tags I have with the number of folks participating in the fish exchange and I noticed that somehow, DS14 (James) is not on the spreadsheet. I know he was there before. I'm not sure when that happened (and certainly hope it's not an omen or something). But he's definitely going to be on the cruise with us. Could you add him back on?

And folks that are doing Fish Extender stuff... I'm sorry for the late notice but I just noticed he wasn't there. Please, please, please... if you're going to leave something for one brother please don't leave out the other brother. I don't mean to sound greedy or anything but those of you with siblings know how interesting that could be if one brother receives FE stuff and the other doesn't.

One more FE question -- I noticed Rantnravin is a "maybe" for the FE. Have you decided? Just making up my tags today and I don't want to leave you out if you've decided to participate.

Thanks for asking, Denise. No, we're gonna bow out of the FE thing. It's Monday and we leave on Thursday, yet I still don't know what I'll be wearing on the cruise since I've gained so much weight/lost some/ and yet some clothes fit and others don't
YIKES! I really don't want to do a marathon shopping spree before the cruise. Maybe I'll do a liquid diet for three days:scared1:
-- not too bad really, since we plan on a "liquid diet" for the next 7 ... hee hee

good morning everyone:goodvibes

yesterday was a great day did a lot of wash, ironing and packing. almost have 2 full suitcases packed:thumbsup2 closed them up and had my ds weigh them...Is sw suitcase weight still 50 lbs each?? If so, I have 10 more lbs to go to fill them up

wdhinn89 I am so glad we are leaving out of Islip on Friday instead of jfk that is probably going to be a mess. :sad2:

I hope everyone has a really good day :thumbsup2

Just saw a great idea on the "at this moment on DCL" thread.... at this moment on DCL someone is relaxing in the hot tub watching the sun rise. Oooh.... that sounds delicious. I may just have to forego walking one morning just to do that.

GOOD MORNING APRIL 19 CRUISERS!!

No, I'm not on your cruise - I'm on the one right after (April 26 Eastern). We'll be getting on as you guys are getting off. With just a few days to go, I can imagine how excited everyone must be. Some of us on the April 26 cruise have been counting down since 40+ weeks. Here we are just days away. :woohoo:

So have a great and fun cruise everyone. But remember to pick up your trash and leave the place in "ship-shape" for those that follow (pun intended). :laundy:

On April 26, be sure to wave as you drive by.

Yeah, my goal totally went out the window, I bet you were all laughing at me. :lmao: I ended up (becuase I'm almost totally packed :thumbsup2 ) the same as you (I'm happy :) ) 1 very large large, 1 medium, 1 small, 1 garmet bag and 2 carry-on's.

I have him on mine and I just pulled up the spreadsheet and he's there! Have you been hitting the bottle again! :confused3

Thanks for the good wishes, we plan on having fun!!!! :goodvibes

We can't guarentee on the cleaniness, we will certainly try to contain ourselves - you may discover a couple of empty alcoholic beverages thrown around. We are quite the rowdy bunch!!!!!!

Sorry about that then. I could swear I didn't see him this morning. But I pulled up the spreadsheet and then copied it down to my machine becuase I was going to do some sorting (and we know how that went the first time). I guess I'm just nervous that something's going to go wrong.

95 hours until we leave for the port (we're getting in the day before). Double-digit happy dance of the hours!!!!

Spent yesterday packing, just about all done except for bathroom stuff and last minute things:woohoo:
Picked up DH suit at the cleaners this morning so not to forget it like last time:rolleyes1
Printed out the signature pages to put in my carry on with our passports:)

No eating for the rest of the week so I can fit into my clothes:scared1:

Can't wait to meet everyone in a FEW days:banana:

Finished sorting and 90% packed yesterday for 7 hours (this is crazy). Have 1 very large suitcase weighing 42lbs, 2 rolling duffle bags(1 snorkeling and shoes and 1 everything for our two days at Disney), 1 or 2 small to medium for my clothes and misc items,1 garment bag and 1 carry on plus backpacks. Didn't do the final count on shoes, but probably 20-25 pairs as I thought. I have not packed mine yet, because unfortunately not much fits-should have ben trying it on since Jan. Off to do some shopping tomorrow- liquid diet sounds good.

DH left this am to Texas and took the garment bag. Fingers crossed that AA is flying Wed.

Heard it was going to be 80 degrees here on Friday, so no need for Northern clothes for those of you flying out that day.

Hypermommy- vest sounds great.

Hope everyone's kids are staying safe and healthy. Thanks for the info on shorts for pirate night.

Dont worry Denise, both of your sons are on every print out of the list I have including yesterdays.:goodvibes

Whew! Thanks!!

Can you say nervous? 91 hours until we leave town and hit the road for vacation!!!

Question: Should I buy our own snorkle equipment? Now, that I'm thinking about it, it does seem sort of gross to used rented ones or am I paranoid? Do they have kids sizes on most excursions even if they are not disney?

-Joan

Joan-I bought all of ours at Costco and BJ's. They have kids and adult sizes and come with a carry case(costco's is a nice backpack). The thought of using the mouthpiece that others have used and not knowing really how well they are cleaned and what they are cleaned with just skeeves me. Other people said they are good sets and definetely better than what you can rent or are given. Also the masks seem to fit better. The kids tried them in my big tub and DD13 and DH used theirs in the pool last summer and they worked well. I'm pretty sure they were 29.99 kids and 39.99 adult. Only problem is packing them. I thought they would fit in kid's backpacks, but they wanted to take the fins and snorkel backpack, so we now have a duffle with all of them in it. In hindsight I probably should have shipped them down and back, but we do have the luggage room so its ok.

Worked my last night yesterday:banana:

Joan,
We weren't laughing:rotfl: at you, we were envious that you were such a good packer! It's nice to know that you're as lousy at packing a the rest of us. We'll all have to have a Bahama Mama toast to our rotten packing skills ! I'm excited / nervous / antsy. I've never felt this way before a vacation before. I think it's the DisBoard excitement all these months that has me so worked up! Three and a half more days of school.....:cool1:
