April 19, 2008 - Western - VERY Early Roll Call - Anyone??!!

See you at brunch! What spa things did you book?

-Joan

I booked the Well Being Massage for DH and the Stone Therapy and Exotic Hand Ritual for me. They're all on Monday. (OK, OK, 2 for me and one for him.....but HEY - I made all the trip arrangements and reservations, I deserve a little treat don't you think?). ;)

I also booked the Cabana Massages, but I'm not sure about that. I took them becuase they were still there, but I'll think about it for a few days and then, if I decide it's too much, I'll cancel before we get to the 75 day mark so our new friends can have an opportunity to book them. We are always conflicted about doing anything on CC. It's so nice to just spend the day in the sun at Serenity Bay with Conch Coolers or Drink of the Day. Our girls are old enough that we don't have to worry about them, so it can be a lovely, peaceful day.

Hey all....I had a big ooppsss. I never gave my TA...who is my mom...my final payment. No ressies for me. I don't know what I was thinking. Will do it tomorrow. Like I said earlier, I had same day surgery (nothing too big...just some female stuff, thanks for asking Hypermommy) and I guess my mind has been elsewhere. Also had my daughter's 7th birthday last week, my mother in law was in hospital, we had NYS ELA tests these past two weeks, I was observed teaching this week by my principal...(new job this year, new tenure area!) and my husband decided to "cover" his grays without telling me...and I love his salt and pepper look! It is no wonder I forgot or should I say didn't even remember that I forgot! Oh well...not the end of the world, right! On the positive side, I am just looking for spa ressies and possibly a Palo dinner reservation. I am sure I can take care of that tomorrow after I pay! We are doing our excursions on our own.

Congrats to you all who got their ressies. Hope everyone is happy. It seems it!

Hope you won big @ Mohegan Antoinette!

Anyhow.....Joan...perhaps I/we will schedule palo the same night as you so because I know Emily will be looking for Rebecca and Tyler @ dinner each night and since you will be @ Palo on Thursday, the kids won't be in the dinning room...so it might be a nice night to do it.

Joan and Hypermommy: I signed up and installed Windows live messenger..If I did it right I think I am Mtaggart@live.com Will I get mail there too or can I just use it for instant messages? I am adding you Hypermommy to my list. What are you Joan? Do you want to set aside a time or day or whatever to discuss weightloss support stuff? Let me know.

Hypermommy! Could you do a sign for us too? ...even though I am still a wee bit worried about the rain and the umbrellas....but you know what they say..when in Rome, do as the Roman's do....I don't want to be left out! We are the Taggart Family! 3 people Husband, Wife and Daughter. I know we are printing it out...but are people saving it to a file and then printing it out in word? Thanks for sharing and the info!

Anyone interested in Mickey Ears for their stateroom door...the door sign itself is round...simulating mickey's face...and you put the ears on the circle creating a mickey head. Let me know...I would be happy to send them off to you via email!

Welcome MassMulan aka Jen. And anyone else whom may have joined that I have overlooked!

EVERYONE: don't forget to use the pay it forward program that the general DCL thread has...some very nice DISers send a DCL postcard to your kids saying they can't wait to see you etc...whatever you want, signed from whatever character you want! It is great!

Off to do some laundry! Yuck!

I did the Stone Therapy as well, I've always wanted to try that! Mine is for Thursday!

I don't know how to do multi quotes. Help?

Michelle:

Glad your okay! I guess now is better to do it than closer to the cruise!

Happy Birthday!

Hope your mother-in-law is okay!

My daughter did the ELA tests the second week of January. Do you ever find out how she did?

Never trust a guy with hair dye!

Palo the same night sounds great, maybe because we're linked, you can get the same time. 7:00pm Thursday.

I'm at jselvaggi@hvc.rr.com. Yeah, maybe we can have a set day and time where we can all meet and talk about diet stuff.

What's pay it forward and where do I get it?

Character Breakfast: what time? I think I scheduled Palo Brunch during that time. Can the kids go during the Club, does anyone know?

From what I remember, I think the times are 8:30 and 10 for the character breakfast? The Clubs will not bring the kids there, you have to do it yourself, or send them alone if they're old enough. It's in Parrot Cay (if that wasn't already said) and you're assigned a day and time based on what was posted about. So if you're the APL rotation, dining in the main seating, you'd get the 8am character breakfast on the first sea day/Key West day.

Last year we booked Palo for 10:30 and later found out about the breakfast, but it worked out because they weren't the same day, plus we had the early seating anyway. This time we're slated for late dining (which we were last time too, but got it changed thank gosh) so my fear was that if we did a 10:30 brunch again that we'd have to miss our character breakfast.

I will add that on our Med cruise, we had our character breakfast on the 1st sea day and had Palo brunch booked for the 2nd sea day. My mom had misunderstood that we had brunch at Palo and went back to Parrot Cay and they seated her without issue. She ate alone (as did I in Palo after waiting an hour! ) but was at a table of 4. So I think if you will miss it because of Palo, you might have the opportunity to go again if you ask.

So, I booked Palo Brunch for Monday at 10:30, that means I'm okay because character breakfast is Sunday?

If you have that rotation, but you won't know that till you get your keys. Are you late dining? If not then I wouldn't worry either way. If you are, then you'll really have to see what your rotation is.

It is either Sunday, Monday or Tuesday depending on which rotation you get and you won't know that until you get on the ship. Are you late or early seating?

It'll all work out, I'm sure.

Yeah, Antoinette... how'd ya do?

I signed up and installed Windows live messenger.. <snipt> I am adding you Hypermommy to my list.

I think that'd be a great idea, even if it's just once a week or something.

Hypermommy! Could you do a sign for us too?

Done and you can pick it up at http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj18/hypermommy_2007/soh_taggart.jpg

...even though I am still a wee bit worried about the rain and the umbrellas....

Nah... remember what Pinoccio (?) says in the parade... "If only you believe!"

saving it to a file and then printing it out in word? Thanks for sharing and the info!

Actually, you can probably just print it out by downloading it to your desktop, opening it up and then right clicking on it. One of the options should be "print" and then the printer wizard will come up and walk you through it. At least that's how it works in XP. I haven't tried Vista yet because I make it a point not to use any Microsoft product until it's been out for QUITE a while since they don't pay me to beta test.

Anyone interested in Mickey Ears for their stateroom door...

Yeah, I saw those somewhere but I don't remember if I grabbed them. Can you send them please?

I don't know how to do multi quotes. Help?

When you do a reply, you notice how the original post will be wrapped in marks like this:

<QUOTE=4newtocruise;2268485> and </QUOTE>
(except where I have "<" and ">" the quote wrappers have "[" and "]"

Well, all I do is copy that first part <QUOTE=4newtocruise;2268485> and put it in front of the part I want to quote. Then I type in the closing mark -- the </QUOTE>. So I would have:

<QUOTE=4newtocruise;2268485> The first part I wanted to quote</QUOTE>

My response to this part.

<QUOTE=4newtocruise;2268485> The second part of the original message</QUOTE>

And now my response to this part.

I hope that helps. And if I misunderstood the question and cast aspersions on your computing ability please accept my most humble apology.

I have a quick question about the character breakfast. First, who's there? I presume Mickey, but maybe this is something I should have read somewhere but have forgotten? Also, whenever we go to WDW and do a character breakfast we always make sure to schedule it at a later time -- like the latest they have -- so that it's not so crazy. That doesn't seem to be feasible on the ship. So just how crazy is it?

On the ship it's all sit down, pre plated food, so not too crazy at all. What is crazy, though, is the speed with which the characters visit. They have a CM who walks around with them and comes to your table right before the character does and tell you to have your camera and autograph book ready. The characters I remember are Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, and Stitch, maybe Lilo too? Not sure on her. They do a show in the middle aisle of PC and sorta dance around the room a bit, then they walk around to each table.

I actually read in a thread they don't come around to the tables anymore. I will have to do a search and check this out.

Finally getting e-mails again from the dis-board:woohoo:

That's interesting. We were on one of the Mediterranean cruises this summer and they definitely did the show, but they also stopped by the tables. Guess it's only the show now. I will say it was much more hurried when they did the show and visit us on the Med than last February when they really only visited tables.

Just thinking - there are many of us who are not going to participate in the Fish Extender Exchange- so I had another idea. What about if we had a little "Yankee Swap" at our DISMeet? For those of you who don't know what a Yankee Swap is, I'll attempt to explain it:
Everyone brings a gift to the meet. Gifts could be one per family or each person could bring one, and that would be an individual choice, because only those who bring a gift, get a gift. We would set a price limit - say $10.00 maximum. The gifts could be Disney related, cruise related , a bottle of wine- anything that you think another family would enjoy. They could also represent your hometown. It would be a little souvenir of our trip and of our online friends.

All the gifts are wrapped and we put them all together. Say we have 20 people who brought gifts, we have the numbers 1 through 20 made up and each person chooses a number.

This is where it gets fun. The person with number 1 chooses first. He/she opens the gift and shows it to everyone. Then goes #2. He/she can either keep the gift they chose OR take the gift away from #1. This goes on for every number - they can take a gift away from anyone who had a lower number than they had. When you get to the last number that person can take a gift from ANYONE , including number 1!

It's a lot of fun and would be a nice "getting to know you activity". I've gone to other DISMeets that are a little "flat" - although I doubt we'd have that problem with our beloved HyperMommy there! The only downside that I can think of is that we'd all have to pack one (or more) thing(s).

SO- let's hear what everyone thinks about this idea ?

Just so that everyone understands...

The fish extender gifts are not one per stateroom per day. Usually each participating family gives gifts once during the course of the cruise. And they are little/token gifts.

So if you participate you won't have to tour the entire ship once a day or spend a fortune.

If the issue is more that you don't want to tour the entire ship ever, then I'm sure a Yankee swap is a great alternative for you guys! (Though I can't help but ask if anyone saw the episode of The Office where they did the yankee swap...:lmao: )

For fish extender folks - I saw great pirate temporary tattoos this weekend that will definitely be on my shopping list when I start packing. Keep an eye out for them in your fish extenders...pirate:

I think it's a great idea. Count me in. Not sure if we'll participate as a family or individuals, but I've done these before and they're lots of fun.

Awwww :blushes:

Nothing says we can't do both, right? That's what I'm going to do. I'm figuring trinket type things for the Fish Exchange and something more substantial for the Yankee Swap. Does that sound about right?

Also, question about the Fish Exchange..... what day do folks usually do it? Or is it just done whenever you have a moment (i.e., I'd go around once and distribute my stuff but since other folks are doing it whenever they have a moment I'd find different stuff in my FE at different times)?

To Massdislovers: great idea....I am in for whatever the group decides to do...ACTUALLY...I think both would be fun! It is definately an ice breaker! Even though I am a Yankee, I have never heard them called that before...we call them Chinese Auctions! But regardless of what you call them...they are a lot of fun! :thumbsup2

Yes to Hypermommy about the fish exchange...it is whenever you decide to do it throughout the cruise...so you would be getting things at various points of the cruise...that is what makes it exciting! :cheer2:

It is like Forest Gump said
....fish extenders are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get!:lmao:

Have a great day!
