April 19, 2008 - Western - VERY Early Roll Call - Anyone??!!

We all had a blast. Our photos will be posted within the next day, or two.
Since coming home life was normal. A little swaying, but nothing now.
I am going to make a photo for everyone that sends me their mail address.

Side note...
If anyone here needs a computer system, let me know. I had a customer
back out on 4 computers, and I need to unload them ASAP so I can cover some bills from the cruise.

Talk to you all soon.

Karen,

You just made me feel so much better. I could not stop thinking that it may not be as great as I originally thought, but now I am feeling positive again. We are just gonna do it and have a blast. My kids will be almost 12 and almost 9 when we go, so the kids club wont be a huge issue. I do know that they are closed during meals. It will force my kids to eat with us!!!!:goodvibes
Did you arrive in PR the day before? If so, where did you stay? I have family in PR and my cousin works at the Condado Plaza & Casino, which is now the Wyndom I believe. Also, did you do any excursions? Anything you could recommend? Any info would be helpful.

Thanks,
Antoinette
:flower3:

We flew to PR the same day as we boarded. We were part of a group. The local TA here does a really good "School vacation week package" every year and we usually go with them if we're not doing Disney or DCL. We have 2 great excursions in St. Martin and St. Thomas - in fact we've used them both more than once. I'll dig up the info. and either post it or PM you. Other than that we are beach people so that's what we usually do.
Remember, Anty, any day on a cruise is a GOOD DAY!

Hello everyone

OMG, I have to tell you all what I did today.

I booked a cruise on RCL. I feel a little :scared1: and a little :woohoo: .

I rebooked on DCL and plan on cruising with them in 2010.

Today, I booked on RCL for April 5, 2009 Southern Carribean cruise. It was $3200 for our family of 4 in the same type stateroom that we had on DCL. When I was rebooking onboard DCL I had asked about that same week (April 4, 2009) and it was $7500!!! It is Easter break.

I am starting to get excited, however, I feel like a bit of a trader. :confused3
My thought is that we will keep our DCL ressie until after the RCL cruise so that we can make an educated decision about which cruise line suits our needs best.

It is the Adventure of the Seas ship out of San Juan. Their cancellation policy is the same as DCL, so I can still change my mind, but the ports are very enticing. Aruba, Curacao, St. Maartin & St. Thomas, plus a day in PR. I am most excited about Aruba!!! I have been to St. Maartin & St. Thomas, but DH has not.

What do you guys think?

Antoinette

Don't feel guilty - we are looking in to RCL as well for next year just to compare. My step-mother-in-law is pretty cruiseline savvy - all she does is cruise because of her polio, keeps telling me we need to branch out from DCL because it's expensive. I know RCL doesn't go to Tortola, but we are looking at May 24, 2009 which will be 3 after our official 15 yr. anniv. at a SOuthern. It's amazing to see that we can a Jr. Suite for even less $$ then DCL. It will take more investiagating but really raises the question.

We'll see you Sat!

Hi all! I feel so out of the cruise loop...between leaving the ship, not knowing when our next cruise will be and having a rough week back at work.and not reading our thread...something is definately lacking! I was a chairperson for our school's first penny social on Friday so my past week has been chaotic to say the least.

Re:my swollen feet/ankles...I did go to doc on wed. They had gotten noticably better by then..I had doubled up on my RX water pill on sun, mon, tues, wed and thurs..and I think they looked pretty much normal by the time I saw him. They did do a quick dip of my urine and it was fine. Doc blamed it basically on travel, over use of feet (aka a lot of walking in less supportive shoes), and richer foods (more salt). He said if they weren't normal by the beginning of this week, to call him on Monday. Thankfully, they are fine! Hope eveyone else's swollen issues are resolving themselves!

Joan: We are definately missing our great dinner and cruise company! Emily had a hard time settling back into routine with school and not having an almost constant companion in Rebecca! I have not been online all week so I haven't seen your email. Will get back to you soon!

Gina and Chicken Wing: Hello and miss you right back at ya! We really enjoyed meeting you and I know Emily is missing her nightly visits. As I write this she told me to tell you she fed her baby alive (doll) and she is peeing! The Tortolla cruise is peaking our interest also..but unfortunatley we would have to do it in the summer since I am taking a week off in December for our trip to WDW

Re: The nickname Chicken Wing! No idea how that one came about...but it is definately sticking! I think it is only the the result of an active child's imagination! Glad Jeff likes it...cause it has stuck.

Ant, Joan and Gina: We need to plan a cruise reunion! Who else is in decent traveling distance from the hudson valley?

Talk with you all soon! Miss everyone and all the pleasures of a disney cruise! Michelle

Michelle - check your PM's - we should chat! Hope talk to you maybef before the weekend!

Well, after much research we are 98% certain that we will NOT be sailing with DCL in 2009. We got such a better price on Princess for the same type of room. It's a 7-night Southern Carribean. It goes to a total of 5 islands; Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Thomas, Tortola, Antigua. We'd be saving $1,000 and going to more ports. Even tho there is only 1 day at sea, I figure I can get off the boat, if the island sucks, I just come back on board! It leaves from San Juan on Sunday, May 10. I have talked to SO many seasoned cruisers of all ages and they ranked Princess very high; no mixed reviews.

We wil consider sailing DCL perhaps in 2010, but will cancel our ressie and rebook for 2010 next year. I really love DCL so this a little scary, but I am looking forward to exploring a new ship and seeing more of the Carribean.

I hope we are making the right decision!

Gina,
I think you are doing the right thing. The standard set by DCL is high, but other cruise lines are just as good. It is bound to be different, but not bad. I feel the same way about sailing RCCL next year. I love DCL, but we have to branch out.
It was great seeing you and Jeff Sat. :grouphug: Thanks again for coming.

Maybe we will sail DCL together in 2010. :confused3

Ant

You're going to love it! As I said to Ant, we've been on other lines and it's always been a great trip (yes, even Carnival!). DCL is our favorite, but we love other cruises too. Looking forward to hearing how you like Princess!

Ant:

Thanks for the words of encouragement and your right; we have to branch out or we'll have nothing to compare. Plus to save $800 and see more islands - well - what else is there to say! I'm going to cancel my ressie altogether with DCL - I need my depo for the Princess Cruise. I'm hoping there will be new itin's for 2010 so who knows what deals will be out there at the time. I think that's the only thing that's bothering me the most; that I need my depo to pay for the new cruise. But, I have to think everything will work out for the best.

Great seeing you both as well - it was an honor to be invited. :worship:

Here's hoping we can sail together again in 2010 on DCL!

Thanks Karen for your words of encouragement too. I'm such a Disney freak that it's very hard for me to migrate away. DCL will always be my favorite as well, but again, if we don't try other cruiselines, how will be able to compare fairly?! I'm sure I'll get psyched as time goes by - today is the day I will call DCL and cancel.

We are big Disney lovers too. We bought into DVC the year it began (actually "pre-construction") because we were so excited to "own a piece of the magic".
But, we have learned that we can enjoy other cruise lines, and I hear that Princess is one of the best. I bet it will be wonderful!

Hi, we are back at home and we had a great time aboard the beautiful Disney Magic.

Hypermommy: I tried to send you a PM, but it's not possibl

Marion, you looked quite beautiful in your wedding gone and Michael, you looked quite handsome too. CONGRATULATIONS!!!:lovestruc :lovestruc
I'm sorry I didn't get to meet Connie. I kept missing her by minutes :confused3

Thank you so much.

We enjoyed it so much, that we plan to come back for our first anniversary. Maybe we'll take the same cruise again.

Sorry I haven't gotten the photo out. Been pretty bad right now.
Wifes car died, and had to go sign my life away for another. Work
has been bad, and trying to keep mortgage company off my back.
I will get the photo done, and out to everyone very soon.
