April 17, 2011 on the Dream

I will be booking the June 15th 2 night cruise out of NY as a surprise 5th grade graduation trip for my daughter next year.....I will try on board to see if they are offering a discount, but wont wait to book. Now to keep my mouth shut for 14 months and to possibly convince husband to go for the Walt or Roy suite!

??!!? Wait.... Are you saying what I think you are saying?!?!! NYC meets Disney and we get to sail off together literally into the sunset????

not sure if the link will work but see the "Screaming Post" and check out post #23.
The magic will be in NY doing
5 nights to canada (wanted to do this but all dates were bad for us)
8 nights to Port canaveral, Castaway Cay and Nassau
2 nights to Nowhere - this is what we are doing.

Am so excited!!! Tossing around doing the 8 night but I am also thinking a two night cruise to nowhere might be a fabulous getway with DH!!!!
Do you think we'll be able to book on the ship???:cool1:

I hope we can book this special cruise itinerary on the ship. I had hoped we could!!

I will be right there first day doing it!

Yes, Momtoleasawav, you would need to be ready to leave on teh 10th to take the direct air tickets. That's the bummer.

If you book the 8th when dates open. I will be checking on the cruise if it will be cheaper to book on board the canceling and rebooking

hey guys. I was just looking at some navigators from a 4 night cruise in January that was posted on allears and there is no formal night. It's cruise casual the first two nights, pirate/cruise casual, and the last night is cruise casual. Has anyone heard anything different? I was going to bring one fancy dress for formal night, but if there isn't going to be one I don't think I will. Plus my DH likes to wear a suit jacket on formal night, so no formal night, no suit jacket.

let me know what you've heard.

This is true. The second night is an optional dress-up night and I believe Mickey and Minnie will be wearing their formal attire for photo ops. I've also heard that men don't even have to wear a suit jacket or tie for dinner in Palo anymore. So, we're not packing suit jackets, but we are going to go ahead and pack a tie for DH for Palo. The rest of the time, we're going "cruise casual". They still have an actual formal night on the longer itineraries.

When I look at my ticker, I'm amazed!! We're almost single digit dancing!:banana::banana: I finished my FE gifts last weekend (finally)! Now if I could just get packed, I'd be fine. I can't believe how much I have to get done between now and Friday of next week!! :faint: Now I'm combing the weather websites like a madwoman!! (I know, I know...we're too far out right now, but I can't help it!) It better not rain on my DREAM parade!!!:cool2:

Hey deb, would you mind elaborating please? Are you saying to wait until we are the boat to book? Do you think if we wait that the NY options will be sold our though? (if that is, indeed, what you are saying)

Question: do we have to take our passport off with us when going to Nassau and cc?

Do they sell waterproof holder for valuables (forgot the name) that you can hang around your neck while at Atlantis or swimming on the cruise ship? I cannot imagine trying to buy one now!

I purchased the "Witz "See-It Safe" Dry Case, Clear Small - Clear" through Amazon and got it super fast. (Within a few days) If that helps. They came in different sizes and colors.

Hope you don't mind if this Deb answers your questions. ;)

It's best to book as soon as the reservation window opens for the lowest price because DCL sells cabin categories on tiered price points. Then, you can "re-shop" your reservation when you are onboard and get the discount and OBC if it works out to be cheaper than your original fare.

Here's a perfect example of why it's best to book as early as possible... DH and I were waiting until our Baltic cruise last July to book this 4/17 cruise. But, around February 2010, I started reading on this thread how the ship was selling out quickly. So, I went ahead and booked and then planned to re-shop onboard. Well, by the time July rolled around, all of the prices had jumped so high that even with the 10% discount and OBC, our current reservation was much cheaper than what I could get rebooking onboard. I'm still kicking myself that we didn't book this cruise earlier!!!!!!!! :headache:

Here are the Onboard Booking Discounts for 2011 cruise sailings:
In addition to the 10% discount off cruise fare:
Silver CC Members receive $100 OBC for 3-6nt cruises or $200 OBC for 7nt+ cruises
Gold CC Members receive $150 OBC for 3-6nt cruises or $275 OBC for 7nt+ cruises
Platinum CC Members receive $250 OBC for 3-6nt cruises or $350 OBC for 7nt+ cruises
I don't believe Cats 1, 2, or 3 get the 10% discount, but it's been reported that Cat 11C and old Cat 12s are receiving both the 10% and OBC.

Question: do we have to take our passport off with us when going to Nassau and cc?

Definitely not needed for CC. In the past, we've needed a driver's license with our KTTW card for CC, but this might have changed now that they're putting photos on the KTTW cards... I think.

We always take our passports when in a foreign port such as Nassau, but you can get by with keeping them in the cabin safe and taking color copies instead if you prefer. The only time we were required to carry our passports was in Russia during our Baltic cruise.

Do they sell waterproof holder for valuables (forgot the name) that you can hang around your neck while at Atlantis or swimming on the cruise ship? I cannot imagine trying to buy one now!

The Wonder and Magic gift shops had them in two sizes, so I would imagine the Dream has them, too. If not, they also carry them at the She Sells Sea Shells gift shop on CC. :thumbsup2 They make a great little souvenir!

I am saying book the 8th, then check while on board. If the rates have not gone up you can cancel the original reservation and rebook on board. I am not sure what sort of discount they will be offering on the NY cruises for rebooking onboard.

I was just on the website and there are Palo ressies available for dinner (party of 5-6) if anybody was still trying to get in!! :thumbsup2

Your weather comment made me laugh. This morning we were driving to work & school and Connor had my iPhone and was looking at weather.com. He started reading me the 10 day forecast. Then he says "oh the weather for when we leave next Thursday is here and it will be...." I was so darn excited that the start date of my vacation was on the 10 day forecast!!:banana: It is so close! :woohoo:
I can't focus on anything at work, but that could also be attributed to all (students, staff) of us NEEDING SPRING BREAK!! :rolleyes1 It has been a long winter and way too long since we have had a break! I love the fact that when we get back from Spring Break we will only have 6 weeks of school left! YES!!

I just have to say that I am out of control...the first part of getting help is being able to admit you have a problem, right! Well here is my confession...
I have been desperately searching for a new camera yesterday and today! Why?? I don't know I just feel like I want a new one. I have a Canon Rebel DSLR but I don't think I am going to bring it! It is too big and I don't feel like hauling it around. I have an old Sony point and shoot. It works fine but it's five years old and I have been wanting a new camera for a year now. I can't tell DH this...I think he would take all my credit cards away! Atleast camera shopping has stopped me from shoe and purse shopping!
Here is what I am looking for - under $150 point and shoot with just more than basic functions. Would love to have the panoramic mode... Anyone want to enable me - let me know if you have any camera recommendations!

I will only bring 5 pairs of shoes, I will only bring 5 pairs of shoes

I will only bring 5 pairs of shoes....
If I keep saying it, I might actually do it.

This is a little more than what you were looking for price-wise, but last year we bought the Olympus Stylus Tough 8010 (was DD b-day gift) and all of us LOVE it!! It's waterproof up to 30 ft, drop proof, crush proof up to 250 lbs, freeze proof...lol. That's the one we take on our cruises now so we can use it no matter where we go. I want to say DH found it online for $280 but don't quote me on that...
