April 17, 2011 on the Dream

Hi everyone!!! I just booked this cruise last night--booking finally opened up for DS age group. I can see why it was so difficult seeing all of the tweens so far on this cruise meet LOL!!! We are a family of 3--DH Mark, me, and DS12 Jacob.
Deb T I have no clue what this is all about without reading over 39 pages of posts, but I get that it's cool!

:welcome: aboard :boat:

Do we know if this cruise is or close to being, sold out?

It hasn't changed much in availability. There's still cat 4's and 5's available for adults only. Actually, only 5A's were available in the 5 cat. for awhile and now 5B, C, and D's are miraculously open again.

I'm not sure HOW bdink got her 12 year old aboard?!? Tweens had been closed and are still closed now. Bdink slipped into a narrow opening apparently. :thumbsup2

We'd love to be added as well, although I'm not sure what I'm being added to!? I love this thread, but it's taking so long to read through it and I don't have the patience so I'm asking to be added to everything!

You are so funny!:thumbsup2
Welcome! :cheer2:
Nice to see our list growing

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I totally understand the whole fish extender thing now, thanks to a lot of catching up.

The comment about the 12 year old (tween) being sold out is not entirely accurate yet. I just switched my reservation yesterday from the following week to sailing on the 17th with you guys (school calendar change...), and wanted to go on the 4 night. - that WAS definitely sold out for our ages bracket (11 and 15), so are now going to hang with my new homies on the 3 night cruise of which there was still room. Probably not much, but still enough for us to squeeze by!

Hope this helped!pirate:

Hey guys, back from Virginia Beach. :beach: We sure love it there. A great 10 days away and much needed. Pretty much have all the laundry done and unpacking. Next "mini" vacation is Justin Bieber Concert in Columbus. Actually my niece who is in college LOVES Justin as much as my girls and my brother is going to fly her up to Columbus for the weekend and she is going to use my ticket. Hubby and I will spend a few hours just around OSU while they are at the concert. Going to stay a couple nights and go to the zoo and such too. :)

Going to do some research on the Blue Lagoon in Nassau. Since we are back to backing, not sure if we should just enjoy Atlantis twice or try something different for one of the days. I love the anticipation/planning period of trips. :surfweb:

Are either of you staying in one of the Universal hotels? Have they released their rates yet? We want to go to US/IOA for the 2 nights after the cruise. We decided to just spend the money and stay in one of their hotels for the free front of the line pass, instead of paying for it x's 5. I just checked the website and the dates I entered are not available. I think they said August. But this is aggravating.
We're staying onsite at US/IoA from the 14th to the morning of the 16th. WDW at BWV after the cruise.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

This cruise is a 4 night cruise, do you have the correct date?:confused3

I was wondering if there was some confusion.
This is def a four day cruise.
I need my day at sea!

OH MY G-D! I'm such a ding dong. :confused3 Here I am making all these friends and I'm on the forum that I wanted to be on in the first place, but couldn't get on because it was booked!! I am on the shorter one starting on 4/21

well, it was wonderful getting to know you all. I'm off to the 4/21 forum.

PS - don't tell anybody about my feux pas!

We won't tell a soul! We promise!

I knew I wasn't goin' crazy  ! I've been keeping my eye open for a cabin for my friend and her twelve year old and there's been nada everytime I check! Whew. I'd hate to think I let them down.

This is another cool update! :thumbsup2 I love panoramic windows! just can't wait to see it! Is it April, 2011 yet?!?:wizard:

Sooo cool! Thx. I'm really drawn to PINK. We could have an adult meet after the initial meet with the kids say 2 days in for a quick drink and to compare notes on how the VK's going. :yay: I hear about everybodies in depth planning before the cruise and then never hear how it turns out.

Lucky you! Would you believe....I haven't been to the beach yet!:scared1: I know, I know but its been so sunny that the parking lots are still full even when I get out of work. I've taking my kids swimming at the hidden ponds, but am not going to brave those crowds. I'll wait for September.

I'd be interested in hearing what you find out. We've trashed the idea of Atlantis as Comfort Suites rose in price and we have unused tickets to WDW water parks. With a heavily booked cruise, it'll give us time to explore the Dream.

Our friends (with 9yo) were on a waiting list for a couple of weeks and then got a call from their TA and managed to book both 4/17 and 4/21 sailings  (I am still waiting for them to check in with us here:rolleyes1).
9 more months before our cruise = people change their plans. If you want to be on this sailing find a good TA (or maybe call DCL directly) and put your (or your friends) names on a waiting list(s). :worship:

Hi Again,

It's lonely over on the 4/21 3 night cruise. nobody is talking on that forum:worried:

I read on another forum that sometimes rooms open up, cancellations, etc. If anyone hears of any type of quad opening up on this cruise, please PM me.

Thanks so much!

Please see my post just before yours (I think we were typing at the same time):grouphug:

gosh, i cannot figure out how you guys do the quote thing.

Anyway, you were right. we were typing. Thanks so much. I will check in with both, DCL and my TA (cruises.com) and ask them to put me on a waiting list.

Thanks!! :thumbsup2

Welcome back!
Please share what you find out about Blue Lagoon, we have the same dilemma :)

Click on a "quote" icon; it is at the bottom corner of a post on the right side.
I have just figured out how to make multiple quotes: you have to click on the box " , it is on the right side of the "quote" icon. If you want to respond to a few posts = click on " icons under their posts, and then on "quote" icon of one of the chosen posts. Sorry if I am confusing you :scared1:. In other words - just explore by clicking on various icons and see what you get :cool1:

I was soooo surprised to see it that I was able to book--I had been looking for a couple of months. I grabbed that room very quickly (couldn't wait for my TA at DU to do it ;)), then I transferred the reservation afterward. I was so psyched!!!!

Gosh that was so easy. I have Disney on the brain lately. :headache:

Thanks guys! Maybe I'll be back...... :flower3:

I had a funny dream about the cruise last night!
I dreamt that we were on the ship as it was pulling out of Port Canaveral. I realized I didn't have any nice crayons to help my DS color. So I jumped overboard so I could go to the store

I just came home after exciting 3 hours of shopping (started with school supplies shopping and ended up with mostly FE gifts purchases). Marie - you inspired me! :yay: Nobody will jump of the ship!
Did anybody else have similar dreams? It might give us more ideas:rotfl:

As I was shopping, I realized that the most difficult thing was to find gifts that would be easy to pack.:scared1:

I also discovered I have questions for everyone (especially for those who have participated in FE exchange before):
1. Do people tend to get one gift for a family or individual gifts for each member of the family? I see how easily I am going over my budget
2. Is it usually wrapped? e.g. if I have a book for a little girl, should I wrap it or just put it in FE ?
3. Is it like a "secret Santa" or participants usually attach a tag/other with their name on it?
4. Among participants, are there any scrapbook lovers?

Please let me know what you think/know. I have never done it before, but I am ready to start packing (P.S. I also bought a 36" raffle bag on wheels at an amazing price; hope it's big enough to fit all the gifts:lmao:).
:cutie:
