April 17, 2011 on the Dream

Hi! I just booked our first ever cruise for April 17, 2011! Seems so far away?! I will be traveling with my DH and three kids who will be 13, 9 and 3. Seems as I had no idea what deck to be on, the DCL rep suggested a 4c category on deck 7. I was hoping to get one of those family rooms with the porthole, but they were all gone already - I am worried about my little one on a balcony! It is spring break for us that week as well here in Northern VA, so I am sure it will be a busy time! All the snow we have had this year has made me vacation planning happy! :rotfl2:

welcome..... It does seem far away but I can't keep from thinking about it, haha.

Thanks for all the outer banks advise... right now that is where we are considering so I appreciate all the hints! I have heard it has changed, heck I read somewhere that Duck was just made in 2002! thanks again!

Hi Everyone! DH and I will be joining you on this cruise, too! I haven't actually booked yet... waiting to do that while on board the Wonder in just a few weeks so we can get the 10% discount and OBC. :woohoo: This 4/17/11 sailing will be our first cruise as Platinum Castaway Club members! :yay:

This is spring break week for NC, too. A friend of mine and her DD are also sailing... I'm sure she'll post soon. ;)

Looking forward to getting to know everyone! :)

I am attempting to switch my cruise from April 10 to this one so it will go into Easter weekend and my hubby will be home.
If things work out, it will be me and my dd, who will be 6. Though we are usually a family of 6, I have decided to do a mommy/ daughter trip with my youngest daughter for a couple of reasons.
We just got off the Wonder on Feb. 25 and my 3 yr old son drove me crazy with his clinginess on board. My dd LOVED the Oceaneer's Club and would live there if possible so I will finally get to read a book with NO pictures!
My husband will stay home with our boys, then 4 and 2, as well as our severely disabled dd, Ryleigh, who will be 14. I took her on a mommy/ daughter DCL cruise in 2001 but due to her size and the fact that I have to lift her... I need my hubby.
So to be fair, we also booked the 4 day Dream Cruise for the WHOLE family in Oct. 2011!
So I am viewing this as my opportunity to explore the new ship before our big family trip so I can direct everyone smoothly when we all get there.
Fingers crossed my TA will figure it all out!

Sounds like the perfect little get-a-way for you and your youngest DD! :goodvibes Good luck getting everything worked out! :)

Hi all
Well I have 2nd guessed this cruise and due to the fact that it is your spring break, I decided that we would move our April 10 booking to the May 22nd sail so we can have some quality time 1 week after I turn 40 and be on the boat for the 4th POTC movie release!!
So I wish you all a very relaxing cruise and beautiful weather!!!

Hi all,

was just looking at the disney cruise site and it appears this cruise is booking up! 5A is the lowest available cabin currently. So glad I booked when I did already! :)

Okay - you scared me :scared1: - so I just went ahead and booked online instead of waiting for our cruise next month. :thumbsup2 I sure didn't want to "miss the boat" ~ pun intended! :rotfl2:

I saw too that there is only second seating left for dinner. So glad I booked early, I feel like I got a deal... and I love feeling like I saved money. :rotfl: They fill their ships no matter what week it is, so not worried that it will be the week before Easter. Did everyone see the latest pics under Disney Cruise Forum?? Looks like our Dream is coming together nicely.

Hello, All!

My DD and I will be joining you!!! :woohoo:We are booked, and I am ready to go! DD doesn't know yet! She will be 12 at the time of our cruise. This will be our second Disney cruise. Although it is some 400+ days away, it will be here before we know it! I'm just excited to have something to look forward to!

I am planning for us to fly in the night prior to the cruise. More than likely, we will hang around through the weekend after the cruise, but I'm still thinking that through. I'm trying to talk a few people into booking this cruise. We'll see...

I look forward to making new friends here and meeting everyone in April 2011!

Hi, Deb T!:wave2:

Hi, Deb T!:wave2:

Hi Ness!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :flower3: So glad you joined this thread! And, even more glad we're sailing together again! :cool1: Your DD princess: is going to flip when she finds out about the cruise!!! Please be sure to let us all know when you tell her, and what her reaction was!!! :goodvibes

We're planning to fly down either late Friday night or first thing Saturday. :woohoo:

Welcome :cool1: Welcome :cool1: My dd's will be 11 and 9. This last cruise my 11 year old never went to the kids club and now regrets it. Maybe meeting all these girls about the same age will help her enjoy a few hours of it this trip.

We are going to fly down the Thursday before, but not sure what we will do for those three days. Thinking of maybe Universal, staying at the Hard Rock Hotel(as they look like they have a great pool) and using the Front of the Line pass they have. We have never done Universal. Will probably head to WDW in Nov 2011 for our "normal" week, so trying to think of something else to do those few days. DH said we could do Discovery Cove/Sea World again.... would like to do it again, but maybe in a few years.

Welcome to our obsession!

Meeting girls her age will help my shy DD as well. She went to the clubs for a little while last time, but wasn't as comfortable as she would be with a buddy. I'm glad to know there will be someone her age to meet at the start of the cruise!:yay:

Deb T., I will be sure to let you all know when I tell DD. She saw a cruise "wish list" of mine yesterday that had this cruise listed. I just told her I was dreaming... :rolleyes1 She didn't ask any questions. I just said, "Don't you wish we could go on another cruise?" She said yes, of course!

Just booked this sailing yesterday after finding out DD's school is doing spring break the week before Easter instead the week after. :headache: I've been booked on the Easter Sunday sailing since day 1, but I'm not cancelling that sailing until I get the final calendar in August.
I had a hard time finding a non-connecting cabin in a cat. I wanted, this sailing is really booking quickly.
The good thing about this sailing is that I booked a cat. 4D and it's cheaper than the cat. 8D for the Easter sailing. They were both booked with an onboard booking discount with OBC.
It's myself, DH and DD (16).

Welcome..... Our school schedule isn't official either, but banking that the 5the grade will be going to Camp the week before Easter, they have done it forever and ever.... and going to take DD on the Dream, rather than a dirty, camp.

Anyone thought of doing back to back??? We are going to fly in the wed night/thursday morning before. I have been leaning towards Universal... girls are pushing a B2B... hmm... :confused3

:tink: Hi Everyone!:tinker:

We booked yesterday with Dreamsunlimitedtravel!:smickey:

Well, actually Tracy saved me yesterday, by nabbing a cat. 10A guaranteed spot! :mickeyjum:goofy: I rebooked just myself on the Podcast Cruise to get the discount, and hemmed and hawed about which cruise and when I settled on this one, I couldn't add the kids to my 11C cat!

In fact, availability for this cruise is only showing cat 4 and 5 right now on the Disney website. Not sure if they are going to release another round of cabins in different cat. or if this is it! :scared1: It might be a very packed cruise.

Massachusetts is always out this week as its based on Patriots Day and not Easter , but I'm surprised that there is so many other school systems out that week also. Easter's so late in '11

Anyway, it shall be I and my 3 DS's who'll be .....yikes! 16, 14, and 13-where does the time go! On our first Disney Cruise they were 5, 6, and 8!!

We're excited to be on the new ship. My kids know the Wonder and Magic like the back of their hands, so new will be good. We've only cruised with Disney, as it's perfect I think for single mom's who need a break and need to feel her kids are safe in order to relax. It's the only time of the year I can get a book read!

Welcome Aboard!!

Like your kids, our DS could probably get just about anywhere on the current ships with a blindfold on! He has been on 8 (soon to be 9) DCL cruises and could probably show me places on the ship that I have never seen! Looks like you have a DS the same age as ours - he'll be 16 for this cruise.

Cool! My son loved the stack! Do we know if the teen area is still in a stack? Or is that part of the new kids system where the kids can go anywhere?

My eldest's interests are the electric guitar, music, computers and gaming (unfortunately!). These cruises are also a chance for him to be away from his brothers. Sometimes, he even joins me for dinner! :rotfl2: That's our family joke 'cause I have to make sure I'm seated with another family and not just us because my kids are so involved with the clubs, they don't come to dinner.

The teen area on the Dream will be all the way forward on deck 5 and it is called "Vibe". It will have both an indoor and outdoor area. If you picture where the crew pool is on the current ships, that's the area where it will be.

Our DS wasn't impressed with either the Stack (Magic) or Aloft (Wonder), so he hasn't spent much time in either one. I'm hoping he will find Vibe more to his liking.

:cheer2::grouphug:WELCOME EVERYONE!!!!:cheer2::grouphug:

I am in work hell right now, but just wanted to say HI!

So exciting to see how many are joining us.

Can someone take on the role of doing a roll?

I am getting really confused.

I normally pull these together, but have no ability to do it right now.

Funny, I was just looking at an OBX vacation. Thanks for the hints!
