April 17, 2011 on the Dream

Had a really bad day at work today and could use a little DIS love. :sad1: To make a very long story short, after months of worrying whether or not my position would be cut in June, I found out today that it will. Darn economy. It's been a roller coaster week because on Tuesday there was a hint that everything would work out, so I was on Cloud 9 all that day and yesterday... then everything came crashing down today. :guilty: Bummer. I told DH that it's hard to believe that a girl who's going to be on a Disney Cruise in just ten days could be so sad today. :sad2:

Deb so sorry to hear this :grouphug: . Best wishes that this will open up a door to something better!!!!!

Big hugs Deb to both you and your family!!! :grouphug: Hope things will get better for you guys.

Thanks, everyone, for all your kind words and support. :grouphug: Gotta love DIS friends! :lovestruc You all are the best!!!!! :goodvibes

DH was out-of-town last night, so I was having a major pity party for myself yesterday, all alone. It's very rare that I'm ever down in the dumps... life's too short. So, it was comforting to be able to reach out to all of you. :cloud9:

My position (which I love doing) is being cut - which actually puts 5 of us out of a job - but we have the option of being placed in another position, at HR's discretion. Unfortunately, there aren't any other positions I'd want to be randomly plopped into even though I'd be qualified to do them. We've been hearing rumblings and rumors since last December, so I thought I was mentally prepared for the final decision. Guess I wasn't. :guilty: So sad to lose my favorite job, especially after spending years working up to it. :sad1:

One bright ray of sunshine is that at least we'll get the wedding all paid in full by the time we lose my income. :) (Always looking for the bright side!!) I'm sure DH will also say that we'll probably come out even because I'll start cooking again. :rotfl: He's a funny guy. :upsidedow

So thanks, again, for all your DIS love! It's been very helpful!

!

That's right, Deb, keep looking at the bright side! :thumbsup2 :grouphug: Hope it all works out well :wizard:

Loading the car!!!!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo:  :dance3: :cloud9: :scared1: :woohoo: :cloud9: :surfweb: :teacher: :laundy:  :yay: :yay: - these are all happening at the same time; what a mix of emotions :)

Ok ...so what I gather we will give our credit card when at the check-in desk at embarkation but then go to guest services on the ship to have our rewards card applied to our stateroom account. Is this right? What do we do since we have 2 separate reward cards from separate visa cards. Can we apply both at the same time or should we give the smaller amount one and when it runs out (which it will) apply the much larger one (that may not run out but then again who are we kidding lol :rotfl2:).

So confused:confused3

I have to keep reminding myself that extended weather forcasts can change when you look this far in advance. "Cooler (75) with rain" for April 17 is just not allowed!! Where's a wand when you need one?pixiedust:

If it says the same around Thursday, I'll worry then. I'm certainly not worried now...:worried:

Okay, my secret's out! I'm obsessed with the weather...

You are correct... you'll need to present a credit card when checking in for the cruise before embarking. Then, you can do all kinds of "payments" at Guest Services at any time during the cruise! :thumbsup2 For our Baltic cruise last July, we had a DCL OBC plus a DU OBC plus a decent amount on our Disney VISA Rewards Card plus 5 different Disney gift cards!

As far as your two Rewards Cards, you don't have to apply the whole amount onto your shipboard account. You can designate how much to apply each time you go to Guest Services. :thumbsup2

We usually check our shipboard account balance every night after the adult entertainment shows (when there are shorter Guest Relations lines) and then add "payments" as necessary.

Thanks for all the input Deb!!!!

bumperlove...what are you doing up at 1:48 a.m.? Although I should talk, stayed up until 2am on Friday night reading my Kindle.

Soooo excited about this vacation!!!!!

Anyone else have Jordak make licensr plates? Are you printing them on 8x11 or are you putting two on a page and making them smaller?

I edited ours to be smaller. First, I opened a word document (kept it "portrait" instead of changing it to landscape) and made the margins narrow (0.5 for the top and bottom; .75 for the sides) then cut&pasted each graphic onto it, editing as I went. I chose to make our license plates the width of the word document - I think they ended up about 7" wide. Our DCL nametag magnets are that wide too, but after printing them onto magnetic paper, I wish I'd made them smaller. Just personal preference, really. :) Whatever you do will be great and you'll love :lovestruc having them on your cabin door! :goodvibes

Ditto!! :thumbsup2

I have a question regarding boarding -- hope someone can help. If I have a low boarding number and friends that are connected to my reservation have a higher boarding number, can they board with me on my lower boarding number??? Very curious about this....

I have one more question for you guys. DH smokes -- is smoking still allowed on the outside area/porch of the terminal?? Just wondering if he's going to drive me nuts while we're waiting to board the ship :upsidedow

Anyone know about these questions?? They got buried in all of the chatter :)

Staying up is pretty status quo with me....I work second shift in a ER and am typically wired until 3am or 4am.

I am super excited too...its' coming so fast :cool1:
