April 17, 2011 on the Dream

I hear ya and I agree! Sometimes, I just don't understand some people. :headache: I guess there will always be unhappy people who can never be pleased and are focused on infecting everyone else with their unhappiness. :sad2: Right after the first horn songs were posted several weeks ago, I was in complete disbelief that someone posted that they were upset with the tone (sound) of the horn! I just had to shake my head and roll my eyes at the complete and total lunacy of it! :upsidedow

Deb's Fact #1: The Dream is brand new and naturally still working out minor bugs. After all, who or what is absolutely perfect 24/7? Certainly not me, or any ship, or every crew member. But that, in no way, could ever make for an entirely bad cruise as those posters would have you believe.

Deb's Fact #2: Disney customer service is bar none. That's why we only do Disney. You will be completely amazed at the lengths the crew will go to in order to make your experience wonderful while on the ship!

Deb's Fact #3: The Dream is a beautiful and amazing ship! I, personally, cannot wait to experience the Aqua Duck, Goofy's Putt-Putt, the Enchanted (interactive) Art, the Midship Detective Agency, the revamped Golden Mickey's show, the brand new Believe show, the new Animator's Palette, the Enchanted Garden, and also explore every inch of the ship! There is no where else in the WORLD where we can do these magical things. That's why we booked TWO Dream cruises in a row!! For those of you with young children, you will also have special character encounters and the outstanding Kid's Clubs experiences to look forward to!

Deb's Fact #4: YOU WILL HAVE A VERY MAGICAL CRUISE EXPERIENCE! :goodvibes

I don't blame you from wanting to stay off the main boards. Feel free to ask questions here anytime and we will give you the true story! :goodvibes

I read about the horn sound too and shook my head in disbelief as well. It was in a thread from when the Dream was floated out of docking bay when it was being built. I just figured the sound was a bit off since it was barely out of the building and the sound was resonating within the building and not to mention the low cloud cover since it was such a rainy day. Some people just like to complain about EVERYTHING. :headache: :sad2:

Where are you guys reading anyway?? :surfweb:

It took me a while to find that thread, but here it is in all it's lunacy!

I am laughing my butt off right now... wait, I gotta get my smiley....:lmao::rotfl: To quote, "the horn doesn't sound natural..." ummm, it's a horn on a loudspeaker being recorded and then transmitted onto your home computer. Probably safe bet that it might be a little distorted.

OK, I know - I'm grumpy today. I feel like I'm locked up in a leaky igloo with no end in sight..... :headache:

So nice of Deb to dig up the thread for laughs. Yes, it really was ridiculous of someone to point that out.

So I dropped the FE Extender list in excel and added columns for adults, children and total in the party. I calculate 208 people to date (line 43 is missing info). Does that sound correct?

Wow, that is a lot of people and we are 70+ days out so more are expected to join. We are driving from Virginia but I wonder how those of you who are flying will get 200 FE gifts in your luggage (both bringing and taking back).

How exciting!

I think you might have used Ness2289's entire roster of DIS posters in your excel document instead of the actual FE Exchange list. :flower3:

I just went through the list (twice) and tallied a total of 101 FE exchange participants so far.
59 Adults (26 couples and 7 who are sailing without a significant other)
42 Kids (25 girls and 17 boys)

If you are doing 1 gift per stateroom, that is a total of 32 cabins so far.

People have 8-1/2 weeks left to join, and past experience is that more will jump in - - - the cut-off date to join is a very firm 4-1-11 to give everyone a fair amount of time to gather and prepare their FE gifts. pirate:

If anyone is getting too nervous about our growing FE Exchange, please, please, please let me know. I already deleted all of the old "Big Group - Smaller Group" info a while ago since no one opted for the smaller group at the time, but I think I've come up with a way to painlessly create a smaller group for those who would prefer one. Honestly, I do aim to please. :) I really want this FE Exchange to be a very positive, fun experience for everyone! :goodvibes

My pleasure! I just remember thinking, "are you for real" when I first read that post! :crazy2:

Bottom line is, there will be things that happen and not go perfectly. After all, even Mary Poppins is only "practically perfect in every way" not "completely perfect in every way". And, there will be minor flaws - a little rust on the balcony, a scratch on the coffee table, a chip on a drawer, crayon marks on the bedspread, and maybe even *gasp* a towel not hanging perfectly straight in the bathroom. Are these things worth getting all hot and bothered over? Personally, I think not. After all, the ship is actually a floating city with 1,453 residents (crew) plus up to 4,000 new passengers boarding every 3-4 days! Wow!

I can tell you, though, that the overall experience on the Dream will be, well... Dreamy! And I can't wait to be onboard!!!!!! :goodvibes

:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :worship: Thank you Deb!!! I needed that little bit of sarcasm - lol :rotfl2:

:thumbsup2 Totally agree!

I am sick of the snow (and ice)!

I am with you .....:crazy2:

I feel like I'm locked up in a leaky igloo with no end in sight..... :headache:

:rotfl2: :thumbsup2 What a perfect description: I can totally imagine you in an igloo :lmao:

I can't wait...........:cloud9:
I have done the math to see if there was a possibility of taking a shorter trip during Feb. break, but :sad2: so much income lost already....and our new Governor proposed another 10% cut for our jobs (we took a 10% cut last April:eek:); and that's on a day like today, when we drive from house to house under rain, snow, ice (all on the same day )........I just need to go to my DreamLand for couple of hours - that's right: FE and magnets time! :thumbsup2

I just received my weekly All Ears (allears.net) email and this is a direct quote:

"From Deb Wills aboard the Disney Dream: There is a new minimum height requirement for single riders on the AquaDuck -- if riding solo, you must be at least 54 inches tall. Also, it's worth noting that the cabin doors for concierge staterooms are not magnetic."

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I wanted to pass this info along right away!

Oh lord....I can see the threads now about both those things. I'm cringing right now before I click on the main boards.
I have that email sitting in my inbox and haven't read it. I guess I need to.

Sorry... I already posted it there, too, in two separate threads. So far, though, people seem to be taking the news well...

They already canceled school for Wednesday. School meets next week to discuss dates they are taking away. School is going to hate me. We are in FL for 13 days in april. Kids already missed 6 days in Sept for a trip too. YIKES!!!!!!!!!:scared1:

as of now last day of school is June 28. And its just the 1st day of Feb!

Wow sounds like us last year - when we got slammed with those three snow storms and missed a week of school each time! Good Luck!!

We had a 2 hour delay today but I don't think this new storm is going to give us anything but rain - we are too far south and right next to Chesapeake Bay!

Stay Warm!
Debbie

We still did not hear from our Superintendent. :confused3 They always wait until 5am...but, honestly, I want them to have at least delayed opening tomorrow; today was not fun driving at all :sad2:

Our schools are closed tomorrow too :sad2:. I think the teachers anticipated this though b/c Jacob has had loads of homework he's been working on over the past 2 days and still has a little more to do. I think we're up to the 3rd week in June now -- they were getting out early June. Our schools (Waterbury) don't get a winter break in Feb -- just 2 days. They also can't take away from April vacation due to teacher's contracts (from what I've heard) but I don't know what they'll do if the kids don't get their 180 days in. Jacob's school follows the public school schedule but is private so it doesn't follow the same rules all of the time. School or not, we can't change our plans now. Dream -- here we come.

I'm with all of you, I have stopped reading any thread about the Dream. I just got back from the MR cruise on the Wonder and it makes me laugh at all the different reviews from the same trip:confused3. We had wonderful weather in the 70s everyday. We came home to Annapolis on Sunday night to a few inches on snow on the ground and now its raining. Please take me back to the Ship. Bring on April 17

Oh thank you so much for the correct info! I hadn't checked alot over the holidays and I was surprised by the how the list had grown and I didn't recognize lots of the names, I knew I was doing something wrong.:confused3

We are so excited to participate and my hubby even volunteered to deliver our gifts so he could explore the ship!:woohoo:

I own a cookie company and I make hand decorated cookies. Not only are they beautiful but very yummy. I was planning on making those for the FE exchange and I was afraid that we may be approaching 300+ people by the time 4/1 rolls around. I was concerned about my ability to not only produce that many but to transport them. I have had orders for 160 for wedding favors and that was not a problem so I am sticking to my original plan. Don't worry about spoiling the surprise, you will still be suprised when you see them.
:flower3:

Has anyone requested any personalized door decorations for their door with the dates of our cruise?

I found one itinerary for our cruise on 4shared but I wanted to know if anyone requested anything else that they could share.

Looks like the snow is turning to rain here, about 40 minutes south of Boston. DH is working in Woonsocket RI and it looks like his commute home is goona be nasty! He keeps saying he wants us to move to GA where it doesn't snow like this and where the family can stop on the way down to the World.

I live about 40 minutes South of Boston to. Where do you live? I am in Middleboro. I have one child that goes to school in another district. They had school today. The other two and my work have a two hour delay. I found out what is worse than snow, snow followed by sleet and rain!
