April 14, 2007 Eastern Cruise!

Hi! This will be our first Disney Cruise. Our daughter is five years old. We are soooo looking foward to this. Any tips on getting photos made with characters/princesses? Cost for photos?

Thanks for all the info you guys give. I have a lot to go through.

I just did my Palo reservation. I was surprised that only had one time slot left for Sunday(the only day brunch was offered). I also made Palo reservations for Thursday night. I wanted to go on a day we were at sea.
With 75 days out so close I hope everyone get the reservations they want. We are still undecided about excursions.

:confused3 I was wondering the same thing! Maybe they only release a certain amount online, and the rest can be booked at the port.

As I said above, I had hoped to bring a couple that hadn't been able to get a reservation. However, they only let me book a table for 2. I'm going to try and add more when I get onboard.

Westieridgeback :rainbow: Welcome! Plenty of opportunities for characters onboard. They give you a 'Navigator' each day (and Club Schedules) and it details where/when everything onboard is. Just bring your reading glasses and highlighters and you won't miss it! I always tape my navigators right on the mirror and highlight our interests. Keeps the kids involved in the process!

Duct Tape-Don''t leave home w/o it, I say!

I finally started exercising last week which is many days late and many dollars short. It's been such a chaotic past few months. I really need this cruise :boat: I spent last week helping my 80 year old parents plan to go to WDW the week of Valentines Day. I guess I talked about the changes to WDW so much, my Dad wanted to go check it out. They haven't been since EPCOT opened  I booked them into Boardwalk with the Dining Plan. I'm a little worried about them tiring out, but I'm thrilled they're going. :cheer2:

PS Any status on the T-shirt? Remember I can help!:laundy:

I was able to book brunch for a group of 3 - 4 on Friday when I did my reservations. They even had a reservation for a group of 5 - 6. Keep checking something might open up.
Definitely check when you get onboard.

Hi....I haven't been on these boards in awhile...busy, busy, busy. But we are excited and looking forward to our first Disney cruise.
There are six of us...all adults. We have kids, it's just that they are grown up.
We have booked the early seating. One of our group has "medical issues" and needs to eat early.
We are staying at RonJon two days before the cruise in a two bedroom villa.
Looking forward to meeting everyone. Is there a meeting planned???

: Any status on the T-shirt? Remember I can help.

Does everyone agree going with Red t-shirts instead of the lime green?

Where or how are we going to do the graphics for the shirts? Everyone has such great ideas for the design?

For those of you that are repeat cruisers, have you done dis'er t-shirts in the past? If so, how did you order them? Did each family order their own using the same graphic or did one person volunteer to do them all? :confused3

Hi gammaship :wave2: - Our family will also be at Ron Jon's on April 12th & 13th. Hope to see you by the pool. My 8 year old son is a fish so we'll be spending most of our days going back and forth from beach to pool. We will be in the main bldg. in a studio room.

Hey, did anyone else hear that the NY Yankees will be onboard with us???

O.K. I'm just kidding. Just wanted to scare all you Red Sox fans. :rotfl:

Let's Talk Disney...I'm sure we'll see you by the pool/beach as we plan on hanging out there and relaxing...getting into "cruise mode"! My DH is also a "fish" so you'll know who we are too!
I'm not sure which building we are in. Actually, I didn't even ask, I just booked a two bedroom villa. My mom and sister come in on Friday and will stay with us.

I went online at 6:00am this morning to try to get Palo ressies for Wed or Thursday night with no luck. Is this something that you can book when you get onboard too. We are getting so excited to go. Is there anyone else from Maine that will be onboard that week? We are Red Sox Fans so we will blend in real well.

Our daughters will most likely be in the Oceaneer's Club together! My DD just turned six last month and we (my DH, DD6, DS4 and I) are so excited. It's our first Disney Cruise as well. :)

See you in a couple of months!

We were wondering the same thing about Palo. I bet there are alot of no shows so it would be worth it to call Palo on those days from your cabin and ask for any openings. I know I'm gonna call and see if I can add one more person.

I think you win the prize for being the Most Northern New Englander.pixiedust: I don't believe anyone else is from Maine.

Palo
On a previous cruise before online booking I was the first in line at 1:30 to make Palo reservations for brunch. This was April of 2005. When we went got to Palo’s for brunch there where only 7 other tables occupied. The place was empty. This ship was pretty full there where no upgrades available at the port at 10:30 am.

This past Thanksgiving the ship was totally sold out. When we went to Palo for brunch it had more people than the previous time but there were a lot of empty tables.

Once onboard people often change their dining plans. They do have a waitlist and a lot of people cancel. I had to cancel once.
So if there is not availability online - keep checking back because what shows up on line is always changing - once onboard go to Rockin' D bar (they open about 1:30 located forward deck 3) and make or change your Palo reservations.
It is also your chance to change dining rotations or times.

Call me crazy but I actually got up at 3am on the 29 and did get a Palo for thursday night. I did not see any for brunch though. Also did get 4 spring training tickets for Red Sox.:cool1:

I will keep checking about the Palo ressies. Thanks for the info. We are flying down on the 13th and staying at the airport I believe. Does anyone know what time they will put us on a bus to the port? Also I have heard that you can ship a package to yourself and they will have it waiting in your room. Is this true? I was thinking of sending a box of bottled water, since we would have no way of getting some when we got to FL. Counting down the days:yay:

MEDisneyFan,

No need to ship bottled water. Disney offers case of bottled water delivered to your room for a reasonable price. I can't remember what we paid, but it was reasonable. Certainly cheaper than paying to ship from home! While at the buffet lunch on Saturday, Disney folks walked around the tables and offered the cases of water. Just signed the slip and the water was delivered to our stateroom. Very convenient.

Hope this helps.

Can I book more than one Palo res?
I was able to get either Sun or Mon night for 1-2. (can't even remember which one I did), but the system wouldn't let me back in to search for another date.
I also make a Tea time res for 3pm on the opposite date of Palo.

Thanks for the info on the water. I didn't know that. I love these boards, all kinds of good info.
