I also think that the green Mickey Mouse head from Home Depot somehow attached to the lanyards would work well also. As previously mentioned, they are in the paint section ... where they advertise for the kids rooms. Just cut them out and there you go! Maybe if we put them inside of our plastic KTTW holder??? We'd have to make sure it was turned outside at all times, tho ...

anyone else with ideas, please let us know!

Change my friends to DD9 and DS8. :)

Should we repost the list with our real names so we're not greeting by screen name?

I have added real names (as much as everyone has posted) so please feel free to give me all of the names who you are traveling with and I will do the same for you!!

We will be at the port early-10am or so. On our 2005 cruise the whole group (cruise thread) ordered lime green t-shirts and we were easy to spot and say hello. We met great friends at a cruise meet on our 2003 cruise and still keep in touch. We met on the upper deck (10) overlooking the Goofy pool before the safety drill and then hung out together during the sail away party. What about the lime green Mickey heads from Home Depot for easy spotting? I have mine laminated and I just attach it to my bag (or my lanyard). You can put your screen name on it so people know you're part of the DISboards.

My kids have today off, a teacher work day, and my daughter is having a tween moment right now, UGH!! I was thinking of packing them soon. They're easy. I still don't know what to wear for formal/semi formal nights. I'm hoping there will be some after Easter sales this week.

Kat-We still haven't decided as a group what to do after the cruise. My brother wants to go to Hollywood Studios because his son is into Handy Mandy. I wouldn't mind seeing the Flowers at Epcot. There are no EMH for resort guests that Saturday (or we were hoping for a pirate party).

We have a packed next three weeks-Cub Scout overnights, Avenue Q in NYC, my DH has to fly to San Francisco for a few days, talent show for school, soccer starts. The days will fly by and before we know it we'll be sailing away!

Mduff, I'll PM you our email so the boys can write a hello.

We like to get to port early as well. We are staying at the port so it will be fairly easy for us.

I'm sure you will have a great time no matter what ... although I do recommend La Nouba strongly!!

I can't pack the kids just yet ... DH and I are going to Miami on Thursday and we are using their smaller suitcases, lol.

If you go to Home Depot to the paint section you can find swatches for the paint colors that are shaped like Mickey heads. I forget which brand. People tend to pick up the ones marked alien green and turn them into name tags, tags for luggage, things like that. I was there on Friday, I should have picked some up.

We have a car picking us up at 10:30am from the airport Hyatt, but I think Tom wanted to see if they would pick us up at 9:30.

Mduff, I think the ride from the airport to the port is about 45 minutes, maybe close to an hour?

I was just at mine on Thurs too - I'll go back :)

I'm arriving Friday and will spend the night at the Radisson at the Port, and will get the shuttle from there at 10am on Saturday morning.

I have added real names (as much as everyone has posted) so please feel free to give me all of the names who you are traveling with and I will do the same for you!!

Ok, add for me - Marla, DH is Mike, DS is Mickey and DD is Brianna. (from Bethel, CT)

My friends are Wife=Robin, Husband=Wayne, DD is Jessica, DS is Tyler. (from Monroe, CT)

LOVE the lime green Mickey's from Home Depot idea for name tags and luggage tags! Very creative. I think I will make magnets from them for our cabin door. DS 7 likes to do those things.

As far as the meet on board 2 or 3 works fine.

On the topic of the liquids. I thought for some crazy reason I could stop at the liquor store and buy a botte of wine to bring on the ship. I would just shove it in my bag. But this statement is coming from the same woman who shortly after 9/11 packed a toy gun from DW in my carry on bag and was just about tackled at the security screening as well as shutting down the security screening in Orlando Airport on a busy Sunday afternoon. My husband will never let me live that down.

Thanks for the words of encouragment with regard to the Teenager

Ok--what time is your flight. I don't know if I want to follow you to watch the fun or make sure I am ahead of you in line to get through before they shut it down. LOL!!

Yes--you can stop at the liquor store and get a bottle of wine after you have landed in Orlando and before the ship. You can buy two bottles---even three if you have room in your luggage. We will be bringing on 2 bottles of champagne, a bottle of tequila, a bottle of vodka and a bottle of rum. I might have to throw in a 6 pack of seltzer too. We usually bring a duffle that has our coats in it. It is great cushion for the liquor.

RE: Liquids in checked luggage.

There must be a mistake somewhere, because obviously you can put perfume and shampoo and conditioner and other liquids in your checked bags, so it would seem obvious that you could pack bottles of water. Now, whether or not you want to pack a bottle of fine wine and risk it breaking onto your clothing would be something for you to consider individually, but it seems it must be legal.

Bev

No it is NO WATER, BEER, Wine in the checked luggage. No more giving to the porters. Only can be in the carryon and it the carryon must go through the xray machine. If you put in the luggage and check it in, it will be taken out.

The problem with it in checked luggage is breakage. If a wine bottle breaks in you bag, it pours out and through yours and into the person's around yours. It can just be a mess. With the not-so-gentle way the porters have to handle the luggage, they don't want to be responsible for the issue. Yes, water doesn't stain but it can ruin clothes and they don't have the time to figure out what is water and what isn't. They are extremely generous about allowing liquor to be brought on board. So, abiding by the rules is the least we can do.

Just FYI---I know we aren't worried about it.

I guess a 3pm meet time doesn't really leave a lot of time to actually sit and chat, does it? Maybe we should move it up to 2pm? I know that they do have the chairs set up prior to the sail away party. I remember that from when we were on the Wonder ... we all sat and hung out by the pool before we ever left the dock.

Thoughts?

Kat

We are planning on being at the terminal by 10ish, so we will be wandering around. If we decide on a Mickey color - I will pick some up at HD and maybe we can gather together there, too...

I have a pedicure until 2:40 but I can meet you all after that. :cutie:
I was planning on sending the family to the Goofy pool while I am at the Spa, so I will arm them with names etc so that maybe they can start socializing...
:dance3:

I was planning on using our smaller rolling suitcase that we are packing our shoes in. I am going to move the shoes to a collapsable duffle and stuff the suitcase with a box of wine, some beer if dh wants it, water bottles and maybe a bottle of champagne. We are making a grocery shop on the way to the ship... btw - I upgraded to a van for the trip, since I was stressing about fitting the luggage and bodies into the town car :scared:

Kathy, don't worry about Drew. Tommy will be at the meet on Sat and has been part of that email group. So I think if they are both at the meet by the pool that should help.

I just commented to Kayla that maybe should she email later because no one has in a bit. We were crazy here with having Easter and this week she is home early everyday for teacher conferences. So that should give her some free time.

I plan to organize my stuff this week and next and hopefully be packed after that.

I wonder if 2pm is too early. Once onboard our plan was to have lunch, sign Kayla up for hair braiding, and get some info on the wine packages. (We can't be bother to worry about bringing it.) Is there anything else that needs to be done when we board?
Vickie

Will and Jake will be around too and they are stressing about meeting people - so we will throw them all together and see what happens! I do have to find a 10/11yo boy for Jake to bond with so he doesn't feel left out.
He likes girls, but it is just not the same as having a guy to hang out with :thumbsup2

Not to digress - but our weather is calling for snow 5 out of the next 7 days... I have to get out of here!! :scared1:

Wow! I think everyone here is too organized for me.

Anyway, 2 p.m. sounds great at the Goofy Pool -- we'll be on ship early.

By the way, my name is Doreen, and my children are Megan, Robert, Allison. My husband is Jim. I gave him the password, so he may or may not post.

I guess the alcohol bill can add up, but I don't really plan on drinking that much. I know you can leave your kids until midnight. Is everyone planning on that? I figured maybe one night -- I don't know. I found a lot I wanted to comment on here, but I can't remember it all. I'll have to clean up my office first, then go back on the weekend and see if I can spend some time on here.

Take care,
Doreen

For all those bringing champagne and/or wine, the one thing we usually forgot was a stopper for the bottle to keep it "fresh" for the next day. They do have some on board that are mickey heads. We ended up buying those and almost forgot to stick them in the checked luggage at the airport.

My kids go in the club at opening and usually stay in until well past the time we want them out. They so enjoy them. We do insist they come out for dinner all but 1 or 2 days.

This weekend (sunday) I "nagged" him to try on his suit for the cruise..Got him to pick two shirts so I could get them to the cleaners on Monday. Well we dropped them off last night after work. This morning there is a 5 alarm fire in the town next to us. "northboro".
My husband calls me at work to tell me he still has a suit, maybe smoky but still there. The strip mall were the cleaners is was the 5 alarm fire. It took one whole section..Not the cleaners!
Good grief...!!
He wanted to wear his tux, but I would have had to wear my gown and i was not into parking that...Almost had no choice.

I am hoping that we don't have any more snow. Hopefully it won't snow as much as they are saying for you. It will be so nice when the cruise gets here, which is really soon!

Hi Deb,
So they eat lunch as part of the club? When we cruised with RCCL you had to pick them up for lunch time and drop them back off. We seemed to spend a lot of time dropping off and picking up.

Here at home I've been trying to walk at least 5 days a week. On my previous cruises I haven't been able to get up and get going before my family, but...I was thinking if I had someone to meet I would definately be up on deck at the appointed time. My dad is a walker and will be out but I was hoping for some new conversation. Any takers?

Gina

gfolchick,

My Mom (Audrey) and I are planning a daily morning walk.

Vickie,
The kids can stay in the clubs for lunch. They take them to a restaurant that isn't serving the main lunch. For instance, if Parrot Cay is serving lunch that day the kids club will be at Animators. They take them in age groups, I believe it's listed on the Navigators. My son has food allergies so normally I wouldn't allow him to eat with the clubs, but we did have a Palo conflict one day so I sent him with them and he just hung out at the table and then we checked him out when we were finished with brunch and got him something to eat at Plutos or room service. I just looked at a navigator on castawayclubdotcom and lunch varied through the week between Animators and Topsiders and one day each club had a pizza party.
