Our large group could do some personal, private bookiings if we could get everybody to agree on a particular activity -- or at least let us know what they ARE wanting to do!

I have taken groups of students all over the world, and it is a lot easier to give them deadlines and tell them what to do than it is to try to do the same with family! :rolleyes1

The driver was back about 14 years ago. I was pregnant with my first. I remember because we were asking his opinion on names. lol

Bev---better you than me traveling with all that family. I am trying to get a small family reunion done in Missouri. I basically have told my in-laws that I will be at this place at this time and you can come join me. They all wanted to get together but no one is getting off their butts to make plans. They are all driving but I have to fly so I need as much time as possible. That is the mindset you almost have to take. "I want to do this on this Island. I will make plans on such-a-such-a date. If you have any interest in doing this, please call me. Otherwise, we may be able to add later." Wait until you get on the ship. Ugh!! We always make sure our family knows---we do our own thing in the am and then we meet up soemtime for lunch and after. Don't spend your whole cruise waiting and wondering.

Again, you will find a string of taxis waiting at the port even before you get off the boat. There are usually 3-4 other boats at the islands with us. If you go walking through the towns, be prepared to put on your don't bug me armor and just learn to walk right through salesmen--not rudely but firmly. They will stand in your path, almost put their arms around you and look for any sign your interest in peaked.

Well, thanks to everybody here, I remembered to do Palo Reservations last night at 9:05pm PST. First I booked night 7 at 7pm, then reconsidered and switched to night 5 (St. Thomas port day) at 8:30. I could NOT decide which was better. Could somebody tell me we chose well??? :confused3

My thought process was that the show on night 5 didn't sound that interesting, it was a casual night but wasn't anything else (Pirate night is night 4 - right?) and we would still be on west coast time, so 8:30 wouldn't be that late to us, and that would give us time to get the kids fed and to kids club.

We might try to switch to 7pm on night 5 on board, but if we can't get it, we will just keep it as is. Thoughts?

Tara---the only thing I would make sure of is not to book brunch and Palo around the same day. You may be too stuffed.

Deb

I tried to book Palo for Thursday and it kept telling me there has been an error. The day and time was showing that it was available but it wouldn't let me pick it?:confused3 Brunch was all sold out!

Hi All! (Especially you, Cindy!) New to this board and to DCL! We are so looking forward to our cruise! I made sure I was still up at midnight to book Palo, spa and shore excursions. I got everything I wanted, but might have to rearrange a few times, though. Booked the 2 older kids (DD, 16; DS, 14) on parasailing and all 3 (DD, 10) on the Banana Boat; got Palo for Wed. pm and a couples massage on CC and another couple spa treatment on Mon.

We are also from Norwalk, so we will all have to find each other on the cruise! We are booked in 2 cat. 9's for the extra bathroom and our own space (for DH & I). I have a feeling I won't see much of my teenagers anyway...LOL!

Long story, but DD (10) and I will already be in Orlando the week before the cruise. Oldest DD, DS and DH are flying down Friday night on SW (from LI) and we all will be flying home on the night of the 19th. We are supposed to stay at the Radisson at the Port Friday, but am hoping a friend can get us into the HYatt at MCO. We are doing 2, one-way rentals from Budget to get us back and forth from the airport.

Anyway, happy planning everyone!

Welcome CNB. We may do a pre-cruise gathering at the aquarium if you are interested. We go down the Wed before which is nice. I think most of us are on the late flight home on Jetblue----we should bone up on the Mickey Mouse song--drive the flight attendants nuts. LOL!!

Deb

My DH and I really wanted Palo brunch, but of course there were none. Do they save some ressies for boarding day?

Bev[/QUOTE]

That is what I am hoping - I really want to do the Brunch - I may be weird, but the dinner does not interest me as much.

They should, but you need to get on early and go straight there. I would also constantly check back. More may open as we get closer.

Deb

Hello CNB!!

:welcome:

My name is Kat and I am Cindy's sister-in-law. My DD Gabi is in 5th grade at All Saints!

Welcome to the boards ... glad Cindy got you on track with the cruise meet thread. Sounds like you are very much on track with everything else cruise related but if you have any questions, ask away!!

How fun that you will already be in FL that week. We also fly down on Friday and are staying at the port.

As Deb mentioned, we are going to try to get together maybe in March or so for a dismeet at the Norwalk Maritime Aquarium so that we can put a few faces with the names ... hopefully you can join us!!

Kat

Our board numbers are growing and the calendar is shrinking!! What more could we want?:cheer2:

Another 16-year-old non-cousin girl for my son to meet. Hmmm . . . ! He's a happy camper!

For you return cruisers, can you describe the in-room "cooler" to me? I've read it's not really a fridge. Is it electrically cooled at all, or do you absolutely need to keep it stocked with ice like a Coleman camp cooler?

Bev

You have pretty much to info on the fridge. It doesn't keep things cold. If you need something for medical or baby reasons, you can request a real refrigerator. Not sure if they exchange or simply take up precious room space. Think of it more as keeping the soda from being hot. It is electrically cooled. The key word---cooled and not cold.

You could ask your room steward to make sure you have a bucket of ice in the afternoon for drinks.

Deb

I think a meet prior to the cruise is a great idea! Let me know when and I'll try to make it. DD loves the aquarium!

When I booked my cruise (which was only two weeks ago) I was told that I would have to wait until January 28 for my room assignment. I have a guarantee that the room will be at least at the level that I booked.

Should I be calling DCL to find out or should I just wait a bit longer?

This is our second Disney Cuise. We cruised alone last year but this time we are bring our DS's 7 and 14. Looking for other 14 year olds on the cruise. My son is shy till he gets comfortable and then the ship better watch out.
Help if you are cruising with a 14 year old. He loves sports, Videos and his Ipod, I guess like all other 14 year olds. Anyone from Mass, we are in Grafton

Hi there. I have a 13 yo boy who loves those things as well. Of course he is in teenage H*ll right now because he just got braces and realized that he will have them on the cruise! LOL

Has anyone here been on a cruise to these islands before? I'm wondering if instead of going on a beach excursion, if it is a close walk to any of the beaches from the ship.
Thanks for your help!
