April 11th 2009 Magic Eastern Easter cruise--UPDATED WITH ROLL CALL PG 1

Can you come over to my house and get me organized?!??!?! You are too cool. BTW, I just read that you are bringing your own beach towels, so ignore my email about beach towels!!!

What goodies are you getting for pirate night? I am thinking temporary tattoos are in order!

Can't wait!

I think Cyndi got tatoos. Kimberly and I were trying to figure out what other treats to get for pirate night. I am going to check out party city and see what they have!

Freddie (aka Tom & Carrie) checking in. We will not be participating in the FE on this trip. I think that’s something my DW would have to coordinate and right now she is overloaded with work until 2:00 pm just about everyday, kids after school and going to night school. :teacher: Not to mention planning for the cruise. Her final exam is the Wednesday the night before we leave for Florida.:scared1: What a way to celebrate! :yay:

Kelli, congratulations on the weight loss. :woohoo: I think I picked up the 11 you lost. I was doing well up until about a month ago and then my work-out routine went down the drain.

Panic mood – I thought I was doing pretty well, storing items in box during the past six months but I am sure there is something I am missing. I have been on this and other sites since last summer and I have all the books. Reminds me of a Buffett song

“….. I have read all the books, but nothing prepared for my first look. That’s when I swallowed the hook - on my first look”

Wow, see you all very soon!:cool1:

Kelli - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!! I know how hard that was to do! The South Beach Diet book sits on my counter. It is one of my favorite books and I love the dinner recipes! I love that diet because the belly fat comes off first! At 4' 11", it is so hard to keep the extra pounds off! Once I stay away from carbs and eat more protein, the extra comes right off. I have only lost about 8 lbs. in the last few weeks, but I will take what I can get. Let me know if you want to "stroll" around Deck 4 in an attempt to not gain too much of it back! I want to eat dessert on the cruise! I can't wait! But I don't want to gain it all back in one week (and then some)! So, my plan is to try to do some type of aerobic activity every day, but I know that is far-fetched! I do want to try their yoga class one morning and I want to check out the gym! From someone who has started a new diet every Monday for the last 20 years, YOU GO GIRL!! 11 lbs. is awesome! One of our friends going on the cruise with us has lost 20! I'm envious!

I am definitely bringing my sneakers to walk deck 4!! I do not want to undo all my hard work but I DO want to enjoy myelf!!:woohoo:

Agreed!!!!!!!! We'll walk deck 4 and then march right up the stairs to the adult pool for a dip and the drink of the day! (Then I may have to walk deck 4 again to sober up!)

I read a lot of trip reports and scoured the passporter books so I have been "collecting" things for the trip. I am sure I am missing something. I really want the glow sticks to have in our dark room. I think it help DD's sleep better. Of course, they will be great for pirate night.

The beach towels are a preference of mine to bring! You don't need to take them, but I want to! Some DD will be getting them in their baskets on Easter. DD 4 has loved Daisy Duck since our Christmas trip in 2007. Finally, Daisy is on a towel, bathing suit, cover up and nightgown. (I went a little nutty!) DD's also got new princess towels for Christmas. Can't have too many beach towels around here! (Pools, boating, beach and DD 15 is a diver. Washing beach towels all year round here!)

Getting the shopping done is one thing....getting it all in a suitcase, is another! We need to buy luggage! Our big suitcase got ruined on our last Disney cruise. When we picked up our bag, the corner was torn. I took pictures of it and planned to let Disney know, but they are not affiliated with the terminal so I felt it wasn't worth the hassle. I just let it go. (It was in 2001 and I was young and dumber!) Make sure you inspect your bags when you pick them up after the cruise. We had to throw the suitcase out! Also, the passporter warned about bag handlers trying to get double tipped when you drop off your bags to the terminal. Passporter suggested that one person be in charge of tipping. They suggested $1-2/bag. I think we will just give them a $20 and call it a day!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy packing/shopping today!!!!!!!! I will be home getting organized. (Ha!)

Do you have a Hobby Lobby near you? Ours had a box of 50 glow sticks for $5. That is a great idea to use them for nightlights! Never would have thought of that :)

Just went out today and bought loads of sunscreen...and I mean LOADS! How many bottles are you guys bringing?

kellimomo3 and had2disneycruz - I wanna sign up for the "walk 'n drink" exercise program too! :rotfl: What time are you gonna meet?

itutorfortravel - I need luggage too! I haven't flown anywhere since the airlines started charging so much for checked bags. I used to be able to make it work with 2 small bags - now I need 1 large one! American Airlines charges $15 for the first checked bag and $25 for the second! My DM alerted me to something today: CA state sales tax is going up on April 1...so I better get my rear in gear and finish shopping before the 1st!

DS has been reading the PassPorter Guide every night before bedtime, as well as watching the podcasts that I snuck onto his iPod! We can't wait!

17 days to Orlando / 18 days to the Disney Magic!

Everyone is invited to the "walk-n-drink"! How early do they start serving? Ha!

kellimomo3 - Congrats on the weight loss!!! I'm so happy for you.:cheer2:

I managed to lose 10 but I don't think I'll make my goal. I really wanted to lose 20, but at this point I'll settle for 15. :confused3 If I don't I have a lot more shopping to do. :lmao:

Kelli - Congratulations on your weight loss!! :cheer2: I have been doing South Beach since New Years and have lost 24 lbs. Keep it up...I went through that stage where the weight didn't come off as fast and then it picked up again. The last two weeks I have not been as diciplined, but started again today in hope to loose some more before we go. I would love to get in on the walking on Deck 4. I don't want to gain any of the weight back on the cruise seeing I still have a few more pounds I want to loose. Again...congrats! I know how hard it can be.

Thanks for all the cheers guys!:cheer2:

Count me in for our power walks! I can't wait to be on board and take a deep breath! Dh & I have a couples villa massage on Monday and i think that will be a great way to kick of the week. I tried on a bunch of clothes today and tried to get myself somewhat organized!
I am in cruise mode!!!

Gosh, so much to say,

So happy to read the "Birthday Report" Sounds like the excitement has really just begun - now it will be a whirlwind!

I had the same issue about lack of adequate luggage - just bought some at JC Penny's - they were having a 60% off sale and the bags came in non-standard colors so they are easy to spot on the luggage carousel.

I'm so happy for you Kelli. Losing weight is always a tough thing to do, but feels great when it's accomplished. Agree with the idea of walking the ship -have planned on doing that myself just because of all the food I keep hearing about on the ship. Of course the "walk and drink" idea sounds even more appealing!

Dorie

Cruisin Fun - Way to go! Losing 24 pounds is awesome. Congrats to you too.

I definately want in on the walk and drink package. Sign me up. Can't wait for my first pina colada and strawberry daquiri. Might need to walk twice a day.

Love the idea of the glow sticks. I'll have to look around here and find a couple. Anybody else have any secret items that we should bring along. I've heard whiteboard for cabin and hanger thing for bathroom. Anybody else got some ideas of things we can't do without?

Congrats on the weight loss everyone!!! :cool1: Totally envious!

Oh gosh....I swear...I miss a day here and there and there a billions posts to catch up on.

I finally broke down and got my bathing suits....ugh....well...at least it is over with.

We've started some very basic packing. It has been so warm here in Florida that I can't pack away all those clothes yet! I'll need them for the next 18 days!!!

Oh...Ross/Marshalls/TJMaxx all have GREAT pieces of luggage for fantastic prices.

And....for something to bring that you wouldn't normally think of....I can tell you that when we cruised DCL in Jan. - we kept saying how we wished we had a nightlight and clips to hold the curtains together. Those are already packed and ready to go!

I swear...this whole work thing is getting in the way of me being able to prepare for this trip. :rotfl:

:cheer2::cheer2: Kelli - You are my hero! 11 pounds!?! Ya think I could've taken that off with all the "Mall Walking" - and trips to and from the laundry room these couple of weeks! - sorry to say that I'll be working a little harder at walking Deck 4 this trip!

Last year for our first cruise my only expectation was to sample 1 of each Drink of the Day! Needless to say, last year's Magic-al cruise exceeded my expectations! :rotfl: But I decided it was a good goal to keep around :lmao: You know we must be getting close when a text message from DH today stated "I wonder what today's drink of the day is"... :rotfl2:

Glad to hear there will be so many pin traders on board - the crew last year was so great about trading with my son and 'keeping a eye out' for special pins he was searching for... for a big ship it sure had a 'home town' feel!

Picked up a bathing suit and dress shoes for DS today - gotta run to BJ's to stock up on the sunscreen - I like the spray on sport ones - probably 3-4 cans at least!

"Now show me that horizon"!!

Just went out today and bought loads of sunscreen...and I mean LOADS! How many bottles are you guys bringing?

Probably 3. I like that Neutrogena Cooling Mist spray sunscreen in SPF 70, so I will bring 2 of those and then a bottle of the Neutrogena cream sunscreen in 70. Plus face sunscreen and lip sunscreen.

Hey Had2! If you all are looking for pirate stuff...the .39 store at Birchwood has a display in the back party room of pirate stuff...medallion necklaces, the "hooks" for hands, pirate hoop earrings, little pirate tumblers, pirate hats, eye patches, swords, tattoos, bendables...several little items most under a buck or two. Way cheaper than Party City. I told Kimberly a while ago but she never mentioned anything else to me. Can I just supervise y'alls walk and drink-a-thon!?

Dh & I have a couples villa massage on Monday and i think that will be a great way to kick of the week.

My dh and I have the same thing scheduled for Monday! 10:45 -- what time is your appointment? I can't wait!
