>> April 1, 2012 - Disney Dream Spring Break Frenzy! <<

I had the horrible job of being the Testing Coordinator for a large middle school (1,400 students) for two years in a row, in addition to my regular full-time teaching position there. :scared: Someone sent me the exact same "bad weather" instructions and I was on the floor laughing soooooo hard! So, at the end of each testing training session, I (very seriously) handed it out to everyone with a signature line on the bottom and said they needed to read and sign that they understood what would be expected of them. It was hilarious to watch the change in their faces as they each began to understand the joke! It was a great "tension reliever" in the midst of the testing anxiety!!!! :rotfl:

I can't recall ... have we determined a date/place/time for an initial meet up? I presume embarkation day?

I know we bounced this around a few pages ago... We should firm this up! Definitely important...
Best to do it at the beginning of the cruise.
Deb T - do you remember what time we did our last meet up? I liked the location...

Sure do... I was "Keeper of the Lists"! :rotfl:

We met 2:00-2:30pm on Deck 13 Forward (port side) in the “Family Zone”. It was a little early, though, because not everyone was able to make it to the meet. (We met early because we were also trying to fit in a Cabin Crawl before the 4pm Mandatory Lifeboat Drill.) The meet location was good, but we took a chance because we didn't set up an alternate location in case of rain.

My suggestion would be to meet 3:15-3:45pm in the Family Zone on Deck 13 Forward (port side). In case of rain, we could meet in the vicinity of the Vista Cafe on Deck 4 (opposite side of the atrium from Shutters). :thumbsup2

Christopher ~ here was last year's Pub Crawl rotation... thought it might help with your planning. :thumbsup2
1st night: 11Pm Meet at Skyline /11:15 Move to Evolution
2nd night: 11PM Meet at Pink/11:15 Move to D Lounge
3rd night: 11PM Meet at 687/11:15 Move to District Lounge
4th night: 11PM Meet at Pink again

I have three more sets of helpful Dream tips that were posted on the main cruise thread last year:

Hair Blow-dryer tip: The room has dual outlets that fit USA style plugs + Euro and Euro only outlets. If you plug the hair blow dryer into the dual style plugs it has very little power. Plug it into the Euro only outlet, the right most plug, a recessed round hole with two small holes deep in the recess, and the blow dryer will have a normal level of power.

Wave phones: The room comes with 2 wave phones but only 1 charger, which can make it challenging to keep both phones fully charged. Wave phone texting tip: Want a space between words? Press the "0" zero button.

The TV needs rebooting often: to reboot from the room, unplug the router from the wall and plug back it. It takes a minute then you see the "system reboot" come across the screen and a minute later, Voila! .... TV.

(FYI - we never had a problem with the TV.)

This sounds great then we have 15 minutes to get ready for the Muster Drill and then the wonderful deck party...Can't wait to meet everyone. :dance3:

We got our cruise documents on Monday. It did make the cruise seem so much more real!

I've been battling a bad sore throat for three days - even went to redi-care and had a strep swab (a dreaded dead for me) and it came back negative. There are so many things going around because of this mild winter we're having. I'm just hoping we're all getting the colds over now so we're healthy in a few weeks.

All of your park plans are making me wish we had time to visit a few parks - but we're so excited about the cruise, it won't matter. I think we're going to try to go the Space Center on Thursday after disembarking. My kids will hopefully enjoy it. I went about 30 years ago when I was in high school and my husband has never been and very much wants to go.

The Muster Drill times are usually published as 3:45pm-4:15pm. However, the alarm bells don't actually sound until 4pm. So, as long as you know which Muster Station you are assigned to, you can go straight there from our meet if you wanted. :thumbsup2

DF and I won't be able to meet at the 315 time, but we'll see you all at at least one of the District Drinking Buddies gatherings! (teachers- that double at thing in the previous sentence- was that a no-no? It just seemed wrong..... ;))

I teach math for just this reason!!

Spartan... I hope you feel better, I know that I have felt terrible the last couple of days and the one thing that made me feel better was the thought of the cruise..The dreaded strep test is always the worst..no visit to the Dr yet as the coughing bark is slowly going away. I think the beach and sunshine will make me much better for the next year.
We are going to the Space Center on Saturday before the cruise and to Rusty's Seafood for dinner, it's on the water and seems like a fun place to kick off our vacation. I'm like you I haven't been to the Space Center since I was a kid.. and I know my own kids would love love love it...:woohoo:

Even the Muster drill sounds like fun on a Disney cruise.. looking forward to the meet and greet before and the party afterward.. Looking forward to the fun in the sun and the amazing friends we are gong to meet and hang out with...:yay:

I love Maths! That's why I'm doing a Maths degree for 'fun'!:teacher:

Wendy, every time I see on of your posts, I wonder why on earth you're awake at 3:00 in the morning...then I remember you're in the UK! Can't wait to meet new friends from across the pond!! :)

Ok, I have a question. I could swear that I saw/read somewhere that we were to go to our cabins to retrieve our lifevests for this drill. True? Do we need them or just need to know where to go/when/what/why/how...

:)

Attending the muster drill with your life jacket is a thing of the past. You no longer need to take it with you. You just need to attend the mandatory drill. While there, the crew members will demonstrate how to put the life jacket on if needed during the cruise.

Make sure that you have your Key Card with you so that you can 1) quickly and easily find your muster station (big letter on the bottom right of your card) and 2) so that you can be checked in when you reach the muster station.

It does not hurt to scout out your station when you board the ship, either by taking a walk around Deck 4 and/or check the info card on the back of your stateroom door.

Yeah, sometime during the nine months between our July 2010 and April 2011 Disney cruises, all cruise lines no longer required wearing life jackets to the Mandatory Life Boat drills anymore. I wondered, however, if the Costa Concordia disaster would change the policy back to wearing life jackets at the drill, but so far, no. Honestly, it's a good thing... those jackets are awkward, uncomfortable, hot, and smelly. DCL even changed the design of the jackets so that the neck area wasn't so rigid, but that didn't make them any more comfortable.

When looking for your muster station, keep in mind that while most are located around deck 4, several are also stationed inside. Last year, we were in cabin 7584 and our DD/DSIL were in cabin 8089, and both of our muster stations were F, located inside Deck 4's Buena Vista Theatre. The exact location of your muster station can be found on the back of your stateroom door. :thumbsup2
