>> April 1, 2012 - Disney Dream Spring Break Frenzy! <<

Connor passed his Black Belt test! :cool1:  :thumbsup2
So proud of him...It was a long, long day and I am just sitting down. Test started at 9am and it was over at 4:30. After pictures, etc... we all went to Chevy's for dinner. So much fun! After being nervous all day - it was nice to kick back, relax and enjoy the celebration dinner with everyone!

This is my son Connor with the owner/Master Instructor of his Tae Kwon Do school Master Tommy Lee

Thanks for letting a proud mom share her son's accomplishment! :goodvibes
Debbie

Congratulations Debbie and Connor! That is very impressive!!

Add me to the Roll Call! Getting married on Castaway Cay on April 3rd with 30 of my closest family/friends!!!! We booked 12 rooms all together and we're completely spread out deck-wise. We only have 1 family going that are DCL regulars, the rest of us are all newbies!

I'm still pretty new to this whole board so I just found this thread today. (Wish I had known back in Jan when we booked)

RemoCat- thanks for posting the pictures! I'm really excited to see the ship!

DF and I are staying at one of the resorts after the cruise for part 1 of the honeymoon (not sure which one as he won't tell me yet!)

I'm hoping (fingers crossed) that Pirate night is the night before the wedding (we have outfits planned out) but I fear it will be after CC and I'm NOT taking that dress off! lol! pirate:

Can't wait to see everyone there!

Congratulations!

Congrats to Connor!!! :cheer2: Way to go Mom - these kids don't accomplish such feats without a lot of support behind them! :thumbsup2 You can absolutely share this accomplishment on here!!! I'm always so impressed when I hear of such young ones doing great things!! My DS has expressed some interest in karate, but we haven't been able to explore it yet.

I'm sure you all will be hearing of our upcoming excitement as we go throughout the fall. My DD (who we've always called a "drama queen") is living up to her name and is in her second major musical in our town. She's an orphan in the show Annie this December! Practices are already in full swing.:dance3:

Count me in too. Can anyone share some ideas what you put in them? Thanks!

I put you in for the FE.
It's funny you asked this question - on Saturday, DS and I were going through our FE bags from our past cruise...we sorting out the pens, pencils, notepads, etc... When we got home I had put the bags in my closet and then we forgot about the loot! Made for a fun afternoon as we pulled out the stuff and started remembering our cruise.
Anyway so stuff that we got in our last FE - pencils, pens (some prirate themed, some custom made); lots of different types of candy - one person made a chocolate bar wrapper and wrapped hershey bars; pirate playing cards (Oriental trading co); CD of Disney cruise style music (we have this in my car and listen to it a lot!); glow sticks, pirate stuff for pirate night, a few custom made post it pads (vistaprint); a travel kit w/stuff you might have forgotten (tide, clothespins, etc.); highlights and mini sharpies (activities guides); beach style cheap tote bags (Oriental Trading) - these were good since you have lots of things to keep track of, especially at the end of the cruise...plus others...
There is a thread on here dedicated to stuff that can be made for a FE. I got lots of ideas off that thread - probably too many ideas.
For my FE gifts - I made post-it note pads that I covered and decorated Disney style and had pens made to match. I did the post its and pens through Vistaprint. We also made made magnets out of Disney bottlecaps that we found in the scrapbooking section in Michaels. It was really easy. Peel off the sticky on bottlecap and glue on a small magnet. My Mom found 4x6 magnetic plastic frames. She put a piece of Disney scrapbooking paper inside to frame out a picture then decorated the outside with a mickey head jewel and some ribbon.
On our last cruise someone had lime green plastic bracelet ( a la Armstrong yellow bands) made for eveyone in the FE that had Disney Dream on it...I think. She gave them out at the very beginning of the cruise.
Of course you don't have to make anything you can do it very easily by looking at Oriental Trading or dollar bins...
Hope this helps...
Debbie

Does anyone happen to know what night pirate night is? DF and I have costumes, but if it's the night of CC, I want to wear my wedding dress all day! I'm sure I can call the cruise line, but I still feel it may be too early for them to know? I'm just too excited is the problem!

 Congrats on the big plans at CC! So much fun and you should definitely wear the dress ALL day. You can always jazz up your accessories pirate-style!pirate:

I would also like to know when the Pirate Party is and any other events (or where to find them). It's our first Disney cruise and we're super excited with the FE, the pillow case thing, the Pirate party and it seems like there's more than one wedding!

2nd attempt at writing a response...lost my first very long response...
OK - Pirate Night is the third night (Castaway Cay day)...at least that is how it was this past April on the four night cruise.
In the Dining Rotation you repeat the same restaurant on the 3rd and 4th night. So for us Animator's Palate was on the 3rd and 4th night. The difference is that in every restaurant on the third night there is a pirate menu and some people get dressed for the event - definitely not everyone! I made t-shirts for everyone in our group and we wore bandanas - that was it. Animator's palate was very cool for Pirate Night - because they had Pirate movie stuff showing on all the screens throughout the restaurant. It was definitely a good setting - casual/relaxed. Maybe you will get one of the other two restuarants for the 3rd night and would be a more romantic/formal atmosphere. I would wear the dress...why not!
Have to go to an IEP meeting...more in a few...
Deb

So I think someone wanted to know what the other theme nights or events were...
For us on our 4 night cruise that led up to Easter
Night 1 was Cruise Casual and we dined at Enchanted Garden
Night 2 was Formal Night and we dined at Royal Palace - and people were dressed! We had done the Dolphin Encounter that day at Blue Lagoon Island plus had the early seating. Needless to say...by the time we got back to the ship we were in a rush for dinner and just dressed...no make-up, etc... We got to the Royal Palace and it felt very formal plus they had a photographer that came around and took pictures...those pictures weren't the best! :)
Night 3 was Pirate Night and we dined at Animator's Palate
Night 4 was Cruise Casual and we dined at Animator's Palate
Every night we all dressed for dinner - nice pants or capris and nice tops. Connor dressed for dinner too - I brought two pairs of khakis with me...he just alternated. Except for Pirate night - when I wore jean capris with my pirate shirt and Connor wore shorts. Everyone was dressed down more on that night. The dining rooms are cold! I will try to find some pics of dinners. I also have my Navigators and I will look them over for more event information.
Pirate Night was very cool! I loved the fireworks and there was a Pirate Dance Party. The night ended with an 11pm showing Pirates of the Caribbean outside on the big screen. Plus, they had a buffet at Cabanas!
Hope this helps!

Here are a few pictures of the dining...
1st Night - Enchanted Garden
Our table was on the far right side of the dining room right next to a porthole. We opened the shutters and were able to see the ship moving through the water. Very cool - especially since this was our first cruise!

If you look closely at Connor's hand that is in his lap - you can see the kids club bracelet that they have to wear the whole time they are on the ship. You can not take it off and on. It is pretty bulky. Connor and Asia didn't complain about them at all... they are just pretty big and noticeable in pictures.

2nd Night was Royal Palace and as I stated above - no time to look good and photographers to boot...

Night 3 Animator's Palate for Pirate Night

a look at the room and how another table was dressed

more pics in next post...

just a few more pictures...

a look at pirate night after the fireworks

Animator's Palate on a normal night with Crush...

Our fantastic server - Claudia - on our last night! She was so good we requested her again!!

Hope this helps!!

Please add us to roll call and the FE group. We just booked and can't wait. Been to WDW and DL -- but out first time on DCL. So much to learn and prepare. I might start packing tonight!

We are Mom Minnie, DH, DD(14), DD(10)

:welcome: Mom Minnie!!

I have updated the Roll Call and FE. We are so happy to add another person.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask! Some of us have been on a few cruises... We just did this same 4 night cruise this past April. We did the four nighter leading up to Easter and then spent a few nights in WDW after. We also did Universal 2 days before the cruise - so DS could go to Harry Potter World. That was my been there, done that, don't need to ever leave the Disney bubble again moment! :rotfl:

Debbie:goodvibes

I am off today and loving life! Leaving in a few to take DS out to lunch with friends at Cheeburger, Cheeburger (never been there)! Had a subcontractor of Home Depot in this morning to give me a quote on a whole house generator with an automatic transfer switch...after days without power from Hurricane Irene, we are getting a generator!!
Hope everyone is having a good day, even if you are at work...I'll be back there tomorrow (what a tease this day is)!!
Debbie
