>> April 1, 2012 - Disney Dream Spring Break Frenzy! <<

Thanks for starting the FE list, Debbie!! I'm already starting to try to think of ideas for things to give out. :) I like to be crafty and would like to make something, I just won't get any sleep doing it, since I can't do it during the daytime or our surprise would be ruined for the kids (they are homeschooled, so they're always home). Our ADR date is Oct. 3 because we are staying on property the night before the cruise. :woohoo: Getting so exited over here, too! Don't think we're doing dining plan at all, though, as we're really only eligible for it the 3 nights we're staying at my parent's DVC, and with DD turning 10 just 3 weeks before the trip :headache: it adds a lot of $$. We're just picking out a few "must-do" TS meals and paying cash, as it will still be less expensive than paying for the plan for 3 "adults" and a child. It drives me nuts that she's considered an adult - she'll be 10 years and 3 weeks old - ahhh!!

Anyway, we'll be at AK in 2 studios the night before sailing, then BWV 2 BR for 2 nights after cruising, then my parents head home for Easter (lots of family here, not coming with us), and we move to POFQ for 2 nights. Due to parent's schedule and what they want to see while with us, we might have to ignore some of the touring suggestions...the days we'll likely be at Epcot and HS have EMHs, which I was hoping to avoid due to even bigger crowds, but oh well. Anytime I start stressing over the parks being crowded and get in the "if we don't do 'xyz', our trip will be ruined!" mode, I smack myself over the head and remind myself that we'll be Dreaming for 4 nights, which is really the highlight and purpose of the trip! Not much to complain about there - sooo blessed!!! :cloud9:

I thought of you and the surprise for your kids, how that was going to work from preparing the FE. We surprised Asia and Connor last year but we only waited till Christmas morning and then made it a part of their Christmas present. They had to put together a puzzle that had a Disney graphic with the words "Cruisin with my Disney pals for Spring Break". It was very cool! We surprised Connor one time with a trip to WDW. He was six and DH found out the beginning of Sept that he was going to a conference in Orlando the end of Oct. So we planned the trip and didn't tell Connor till the night before. It drives me nuts that she's considered an adult - she'll be 10 years and 3 weeks old - ahhh!! I'm with you on the Disney "adult"! Connor just turned 10 the end of August. We bought him an AP in April and he qualified for a child one then, they told me they wouldn't make him upgrade till he renewed the following year - I was pretty happy with that. But at Thanksgiving we got the dining plan and we are paying for him as an "adult". The worst part will be that he will probably only want to order from the kids menu!

Anyway, we'll be at AK in 2 studios the night before sailing, then BWV 2 BR for 2 nights after cruising, then my parents head home for Easter (lots of family here, not coming with us), and we move to POFQ for 2 nights. Not much to complain about there - sooo blessed!!! :cloud9: I usually follow TGM or EWDW but there are times when I want to do my own thing for one reason or another. And I just don't sweat it. A crowded day in Disney is better than any other kind of day. I love MK Evening EMH...the planners always say to stay away. But they are really fun and little magical - so we go. It really is what works for your family!!

Debbie,

First of all - how do you quote an update and add in your thoughts like you did? I see the "quote" button, but then it only shows a small abbreviated quote (not the whole thing), so I don't understand how to insert replies. Any tips appreciated!

Anyway, yes, we are going to have to have a whole suitcase that is "off limits" for that first night at WDW, as it will have the FE gifts, pirate costumes, etc. The kids really don't mess with the suitcases, so hopefully they won't even notice that one isn't being opened that first day. :rotfl:

About the meals, the thing is my daughter actually much prefers the adult menu (she's always been an awesome, brave eater), but she eats very lightly. My DS (6) is the one who's getting the real deal - he eats for 2 adults, but pays the kids price. :)

And yes, I totally agree that a crowded Disney day beats any other day! I'm also excited that the weather should be much better than when we're used to being there (mid summer). I'll take crowds over unbearable heat!

I can help with this one! :) You are right about clicking on the "Quote" on the bottom right of the post. That takes you to the "Reply to Thread" box with the quoted text inside brackets []. From there, we usually just type a reply below the quoted text as I'm doing here.

To add answers within the quoted text, just type inside the bracketed area. Then, change the text color of your answer by highlighting your answer and then clicking on the large A's drop down box and choosing a color other than black.

Hope this helps! :)

Yup that is how I do it...and I only just realized it in the past few posts I have made!
Today has been a very long & trying day and Friday can't get here quick enough!
Good night all!!

It's been quiet around this thread the last few days. Hope everyone is having a nice start to your weekend! GO BUCKS!! :cheer2:

I ordered our fish extender as well as two personalized pillowcases for the autographs on the ship, so we're getting closer to getting it all together over here. Still need to get DD a pirate dress, and then to figure out what exactly to do for our FE gift. :confused3 If you still need a FE or want the personalized pillowcases, check out gradysmommy on ebay - her stuff looks really nice, is very reasonably priced, and includes free shipping! Happy shopping, and enjoy your football or whatever will keep you busy today! :)

Add me to the Roll Call! Getting married on Castaway Cay on April 3rd with 30 of my closest family/friends!!!! We booked 12 rooms all together and we're completely spread out deck-wise. We only have 1 family going that are DCL regulars, the rest of us are all newbies!

I'm still pretty new to this whole board so I just found this thread today. (Wish I had known back in Jan when we booked)

RemoCat- thanks for posting the pictures! I'm really excited to see the ship!

DF and I are staying at one of the resorts after the cruise for part 1 of the honeymoon (not sure which one as he won't tell me yet!)

I'm hoping (fingers crossed) that Pirate night is the night before the wedding (we have outfits planned out) but I fear it will be after CC and I'm NOT taking that dress off! lol! pirate:

Can't wait to see everyone there!

Hi everyone! My fiance, Will, and I will be traveling on the April 1st sail date for our honeymoon! We are getting married the night before and then flying down early Sunday morning. After the cruise, we are going to spend two days in the parks...resort to be determined. We are so excited about having Mickey Bars at sea! Can't wait to be married and to be crusing! :-)

Congrats DisneyNerds2012!!! :cheer2::cheer2:

I agree with Nancy - what a great place to get married! OR...to honeymoon, as it looks like several of you will be doing! So excited for all of you. A great marriage is a really cool thing, and one I'm blessed with for sure. :lovestruc

Glad you liked the pics, ccbride412. I will try to get some more posted before too long. I just wish I knew how to make them smaller so they didn't take up so much room on the boards...:confused3

Erin

Thank you Nancy and Erin! I'll keep you posted on how things progress!

Erin-since you've been on the Dream (and anyone else who's been on the ship) can you point me toward good picture spots on board for wedding photos? I'm dying to see everything!

Meaghan :cool1:

Updates would be great! Love weddings, and a wedding at CC just sounds AWESOME. :thumbsup2

I have a couple of ideas ...let me talk to my hubby later tonight and see if he has any others before I post. If I have any photos to show the areas, I'll post those, too.

Erin

We are having one of those very busy weekends - DS had Tae kwon do from 9am - 2:00pm...Leadership class and Demo team. His normal classes are two-three times during the week. Then tomorrow he is testing for his Black Belt from 9am - 5pm!! I may not survive it - or at least my nails won't :scared1:!
May post back here tomorrow with a pic - if he passes the test! :cheer2:

:welcome: to the cruise!! I will add you to the roll call. Congrats on the upcoming marriage. DH and I have been married for 20 years...just celebrated our Anniversary this summer in Turks & Caicos...beautiful!! I really want to renew our vows in 5 years at the wedding chapel at GF but he says absolutely not! He really doesn't get my Disney obsession!:rotfl: Besides the fact that our anniversary is the end of July - a little to warm, maybe! Castaway Cay is a beautiful setting for a wedding. So jealous...when we got married destination weddings were not really thought about. Of course, my mother would have killed me if I didn't get married in our church. Turns out I was the only one of the four of us to get married there. Well I guess Asia (my sister) doesn't count since she is only 7 and isn't getting married anytime soon! :lmao:

I thought the size of your pictures were fine. I'm not sure how to make them smaller. Are you uploading to photobucket? I think there might be a choice of how big you want to picture to be uploaded... Look at this way - the image isn't being stored on DISboards - it is being stored at photobucket (or wherever) and linked back to the storage place in your post. :goodvibes
Have a good weekend everyone! Stay dry - if there is rain where you are... Think powerful thoughts for my son tomorrow...

Showready is my lovely DF, so you can combine us on the roll call. Congratulations CCBride412! Best wishes for your planning!

Only 189 days (27 weeks!) until we sail!

27 weeks!?!?! Wow, when you put it that way, it's so close! I just told my DF today that we were under 200 now, but 27 is a much better number to look at ;) So excited! :goodvibes

DF's sister told me yesterday that she's making decorations for everyone's doors in our wedding group. Ours will be different, but will tie in with the rest. She's not going to let me see them until the day we leave, but I know they'll be awesome!

How fun, ccbride!! I'm hoping to make some fun magnets for our door and my parent's door (they're just down the hall from us).

I just scored on ebay - found my daughter's costume for pirate night, and got it for $9!! :woohoo: We already have our son's costume (hidden, of course!), and it's a classic Davy Jones one. He'll love all the "attention" he'll get for being the "bad guy" on the ship that night. pirate:

Now to figure out the FE gifts...my mind keeps coming back to that...gotta keep on thinking...

Debbie, how did today go for your son???

Connor passed his Black Belt test! :cool1:  :thumbsup2
So proud of him...It was a long, long day and I am just sitting down. Test started at 9am and it was over at 4:30. After pictures, etc... we all went to Chevy's for dinner. So much fun! After being nervous all day - it was nice to kick back, relax and enjoy the celebration dinner with everyone!

This is my son Connor with the owner/Master Instructor of his Tae Kwon Do school Master Tommy Lee

Thanks for letting a proud mom share her son's accomplishment! :goodvibes
