>> April 1, 2012 - Disney Dream Spring Break Frenzy! <<

All this talk about FE's is getting me sad that I can't participate! DF says I've got enough on my plate already with the wedding. Guess I'll have to wait til it gets closer to March and see how much time I have if I can get some gifts together.....

Erin- I saw the itinerary listed on the DIS for 2013 and it showed everything sailing out of Barcelona. In 2010 DF and I went on a Med. cruise with Holland America and ended up emailing them to tell them how bad our experience was. We actually saw the Magic in port in Rome and DF said "that's the cruise line we'll be sailing on next. they know how to give great customer service." That said, our next cruise will be on the Dream in April! Anyway, if you end up near Barcelona on your trip, PM me, I'll be living there for the next few years and by 2014 I should know all the good places to go! ;)

Hey Meaghan - it's Debbie, I was asking about Med for 2014. What itinerary did you do for Med? Holland America is one of the cruise lines on my list, I should take them off then? I have been looking at a lot of cruise ships and told my husband that nobody has a room similar to Disney, in size and layout. Of course I have only been on the Dream so I don't know what the Miagic would be like. I just looked at the 2013 itineraries for the Wonder sailing in 2013 (insert sigh!). The 12 day Med looks awesome, but only three islands in Greece...and that is where we want to concentrate. Connor, our son, is really into Greek Mythology.
Of course I can hear my husband now, "You want to cruise on Disney for Europe! I don't think so!" Here is how much he doesn't get it...so I was telling him how small the staterooms are compared to Disney and he said..."well Deb those are European cruises and you know how small hotel rooms are in Europe!" I just looked at him - what?? Ummm, honey, they move cruise ships all over the world for different itineraries...yeah this is why he doesn't plan ANY of our trips! :rolleyes1

Debbie

Hahaha.... those lists from last year... too funny!! :rotfl:

I think DU is only Disney/Universal related, sorry!

Hey Deb - I looked up DU's website and they book for Celebrity and Royal Carribean. So I will contact her, thanks for the recommendation!

Hmmm, for a person who doesn't feel good, I have been on the computer way too much today....

I was thinking about the cruise last Spring Break and remembered that we had a Facebook Private group to post in. We were able to put pictures and chat through there. I looked up how to create a Facebook page and found the directions so if anyone is interested in joining the group let me know. The group would be private - only people who are invited into the group can the see the page and the posts, nothing on your wall or homepage.

OK - I am leaving the computer now.... I think...

So sorry Debbie! I got lost in the posts and came up with the wrong name! We did Rome, Nice, Barcelona, Tunisia, Sicily. Holland America just didn't give us the best experience although we noticed that they have since changed their itinerary. We just had the little stuff go wrong for us-and it got to us. The rest of the time was great, but DF was just so stressed at that point (everything happened at the beginning) that he couldn't enjoy the cruise until he decided to put it all behind him. Our room was pretty large for 2 people though. We got an outside room and we fit comfortably- I don't know how it would be with kids. I would recommend sticking with cruise lines you know and that have the best itinerary for you. Be aware that some Europeans don't believe in lines so they will cut in front of you. We had kids in the "adult only" section of the boat and even with signs up, no one paid attention. Wow, I really sound like we had an awful time, but it's really what you make of it. Just go with what works best. Tell your husband it's about the experience, not the fact that it's Disney! ;)

Don't give up on HA yet, they may have changed since we were there. It was 2 years ago!

oh and as for the room size, I think most of the ships are made in the same place, and you're right, the ships go all over so the size is just whatever they make it. At least Disney makes their rooms sized for families....

Hi,
I've been following your posts and your group seems like a lot of fun. I am travelling as a group of 30 for my daughter's Bat Mitzvah which will be celebrated on the At Sea day (April 4th). Our group represents 10 cabins, but only 4-6 of the cabins are interested in participating in the FE. I noticed that your group is considering splitting into smaller groups of 20 or so which appeals to us. May we join you in the FE?
Thank you,
Michelle

All this talk about Med. cruises, and now I wish I was the one who had asked about them! :rotfl2:

Erin :)

*Oh, and I would be interested in the FB page, if it gets started. Thanks again for your work on the FE list!! Got the PM. Looking forward to getting started on my gifts, once the supplies arrive. :yay:

I knew I was forgetting something...

I'd also be interested in the meet-up, if we agree on a time and place. Is 2:00 too early for those with late check-ins? We have an earlier check-in so it should work for us, but just wondered how that worked. Otherwise, I realize it'd be later on, but maybe the sea day would work since there shouldn't be conflicts with schedules...? Either way, I'd love to put faces to these names!

What an awesome idea for a Bat Mitzvah!

To jointhe group you need to pm Debbie (guarn3md) but since you are new I think you need a minimum number of posts to do so. Quick, keep posting!:)

Mazel Tov! That's going to be a great cruise for you all! We considered a Disney cruise for our son's Bar Mitzvah, with a stop at St. Thomas to use their synagogue (the oldest in the western hemisphere). It never got past the idea stage but it was fun to think about.

We're not participating in the FE, but I'm sure others in the group would welcome you into it.

I'm interested too in a private FB page for our "group." If you need help, just holler.

My wife said to tell you, "we're coming on the cruise as a group of 21 Jews. We won't horn in on your event, but if you want us to drop by to help with the Hora or lift a chair, just ask!"

Oh, and we had a Disney Cruise theme for our son's Bar Mitzvah. Lots of fun planning it!

Welcome! I have a customer at work who's family is doing the same thing on the cruise after ours.

I knew I was forgetting something...

I'm in for the meet and greet, but a later time after the drill would be best for me. We will have a scheduled greet with our coordinator before the drills and we won't have an official time on that until closer to the cruise.

Debbie- I'd like to join a FB page too if one was started. I wonder if I'd stop checking these boards if there was one on FB though? ;)

I love the ideas of a FB page and a Meet and Greet! YAY for BOTH! :thumbsup2

I can help, too! I have time. :woohoo:

Thanks to everyone for the hearty Mazel Tov. We are really excited about the Bat Mitzvah and had only heard of one other family having done this before. We cannot wait!
Debbie, may we join your FE group?

Absolutely! What I need you to post right now is the different rooms and a name to put them under. Also I will need to know who is in the room - # Adults, #kids and the ages of the kids. When you get enough posts you can PM the detailed information, meaning whatever you are not comfortable posting on the boards.

Welcome to the boards and to the FE!!! Our little thread is taking off....

I might need help...I looked into creating a private group last night but it wouldn't let me make the group until I put members in it. How do I put the members in?

Debbie

So this is totally unrelated, but thought all you midwesterners/Big Ten folks would understand my excitement. My dad has season tickets for The Ohio State men's basketball season, and I get to be his date tonight! They're playing Penn State. Go Bucks!!! :cheer2: I've got my Mickey Mouse/OSU shirt on!

I haven't made a FB group before, but I'll see what I can find out. If you wish, you can send me a PM with your FB account info.
