Approximate taxi fees around WDW Resorts?

We're traveling w/ some friends (we're in our 40's & 60's) to WDW in November and we're thinking about strictly using all Disney transportation. This is a first for us...usually we have a rental car, but rental car prices are so high, we're looking at the alternatives. The only issue we will have is that we have reservations at Shula's, Artist Point & California Grill and don't feel like leaving hours before our ressie just to commute to/from Saratoga Springs to the various resorts.

Wow! That was a long story just to get to my question!

Have you recently used a taxi to get to/from resorts? Approximately how much is the cost one-way?

Thanks!

I would plan on $20, plus tip.

If you'd rather take the bus, you won't need to leave hours before your reservation - generally, about an hour and 15 minutes will do. To get to Shula's, take the bus to DHS and then walk (or take the boat) to the Dolphin. For California Grill, take the bus to MK and walk to the contemporary. For Artist Point, take the bus to MK and the boat to Wilderness lodge.

I will never ever be able to figure out why folks will spend thousands of dollars on a Disney trip but can't spend $20 for a cab ride. Your going to eat at a nice restaurant, so relax and enjoy a quiet cab ride to your destination.

I agree! When my dd's dad and I used to go before she was born, we'd always eat at the signature restaurants. We loved dressing up a little bit for those nights and the last place we wanted to be was on a bus full of hot, miserable park goers. We saved that for the days when we were one of them :lmao: We wanted to whole dining experience to be a relaxing one, from start to finish, therefore we always used a cab.

I'm curious about the taxi fare from BLT to Animal Kingdom?
Also EPCOT to BLT?
Are they all around $20?

Is a taxi even an option for my family of 5 (2 adults & 3 kids)?

Any other notable suggestions regarding the taxi service? Are they all reputable and safe?

All of the one ways that we've ever done have been between $10 and $20 including tip. They have taxi vans. If there isn't one available at the resort they'll call one for you. At the parks there usually several taxis there already and most likely some vans in the mix. If not I'm sure that another cab driver can radio for one. I've never felt unsafe in any of them.

I think a taxi is a great idea! In the past we've always had a rental car. Payin $20 to get to dinner quickly by taxi is not too bad at all! Dang....people pay more than that for a Mickey Ears hat or a flimsy t-shirt! LOL!

Thanks guys for all of your input! Taxi it is!

Last year we stayed at POR and took a taxi so we could get to rope drop at Typhoon Lagoon on Easter Sunday. I don't remember how much it cost, but there were 5 of us (2 adults, kids were 18,14,11). Plenty of room in the taxi van.
My thought is if you are at one of the more isolated resorts and rope drop is important to you, what's the harm in taking a taxi for a park or two instead of being at the mercy of the busses? It's way cheaper than a rental car for 5 people, and you can take the busses back when you are done.
