My friends son was making a list of spelling words containing "ap".
He wrote crap on his list. She told him to remove it.

Well, irregardless of what people may think, it IS a word.

Would you leave it or remove it? :confused3

He goes to a very fancy school.

Even if it is technically a word, I probably would have made him take it off, too. :)

OK, this has GOT to be the funniest line on the DIS ever!!!!!! :rotfl2:

But to answer the question at hand, no I would not let my son turn that in.

Yes it is a word but I can think of many other real words that wouldn't be appropriate for a spelling list. BTW, I don't think it matters what type of school he goes to.

True, true. It's not appropriate for school - although it might be interesting to see what the teacher says about it especially if she didn't say profanity was not allowed. He pulled one over on her. Maybe she has a sense of humor. ;)

On another note (since we are talking about spelling), it's regardless without the ir. :)

I would make my son remove that before turning in his paper. But then again, that's a "no no" word in my house! :)

Crap just isn't an appropriate word for the list. Neither is poop, pee, or any other funny words kids come up with. True- they are words, but there are better, less gross words out there.

(OT- AL! I didn't know you were pg!!!)

If he goes to Catholic school, Holy Crap might be acceptable :lmao:

This is a serious topic!

I don't consider crap a bad word. ;)
I believe the irregardless was a joke based on another thread around here. :lmao:

A 'Frank Barone' in the making!!!!!! I would also remove it!

A couple years ago when DS was still young, he was doing a similar assignment, and just throwing in whatever letter came to mind. He wrote 'tit'. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Of course, this was not in any reference to the body part that this is a slang word for. DS had no idea what he was writing... Thank goodness, for once, the teacher understood!!!

Ohhhhh, and more recently, DS cracked up at the possibility of using the word 'fart' in such an assignment!!!! :rotfl2: This time, he was completely aware of what he was proposing... We were all rolling!!!! :rotfl:

What isn't? Since no doubt this will come out.

OK already...I fess up...

It's my son. The word didn't actually make it onto his list. And it was "holy crap" and I about choked when he said it. :rotfl: Is it in Spiderman, which he just watched a couple days ago with his brother?

BTW, I've told this on the DIS, but up until a few weeks ago Jake (who is 6yo and in 1st grade) thought that "ace" was a swear word. I couldn't figure out why until I realized that I say it all the time when driving. "Hey, watch out, ACE!", "Careful, ACE" No wonder he thought it was a bad word, but he thought the guy on American Idol had a bad word for a name. :rotfl:

Oh, and it's not a fancy school. :)

Ok - I confess. I did this as a joke when T&B told me about her son.

I do know "irregardless" is not a word - I was poking fun at a thread from last week. (also the part about the fancy school).

So, who's offended? :teeth:
