Appropriate dress?

When I go to the parks during the hot months I'm going to dress for the weather.. so it's activewear moisture wicking tops and shorts with sneakers. This time around I actually have an ADR for the Hollywood Brown Derby (for lunch) and I feel a little awkward wearing that into such a nice restaurant?? I've always been one to dress nice for fancy restaurants but I'm not sure how to make this one work? Is it entirely inappropriate for me to wear that in there or is it normal?

I think you'll be fine in whatever makes you most comfortable.

I personally like to wear a sundress often, though. I bring a light sweater, since the air conditioning can be quite chilly! For shoes, I wear comfortable hiking or walking type sandals (sneakers can get soaked in a sudden downpour!). I like Chacos ones; they're cute but super comfortable with a nice arch support.

If I'm going on certain rides, I will wear light bike shorts type undergarments (like Spanx) underneath for modesty!

It's much cooler to me doing this than wearing shorts sometimes!

I agree with geek+nerd. Normal park attire is fine for any park restaurant. Although I do tend to wear one of my nicer park outfits when we go to the park signatures. As for shoes, comfort beats style at WDW. Wear what works best for you. For me, I do best in the warmer months in supportive flip flops. I've got a pair of Sanuks and 2 pair of Birkenstock flip flops that are heaven on my feet even at the end of the day.

For our April/May and September trips, I've started wearing Athleta dresses made of summer-friendly fabrics. I have never felt cooler and more comfortable and I always feel appropriately dressed when dining at park restaurants.

What will make *you* most comfortable? :) For me there's a balance between the physical comfort and the emotional/mental comfort. If you are going to spend your lovely meal worried about what you're wearing, dress it up just a little with a sundress or a nicer top. (I love gauze in the heat.) If you're happy in your active wear, stick to that and know that very few people are going to be silly enough to be paying attention to what strangers wear to lunch in a theme park. Unless it's super cute.

Let me also chime in here and say that what you are planning on wearing in the park will be just fine for a signature restaurant like the Brown Derby inside a park. In truth, it would even be fine outside the park as well.

It depends on what people consider 'normal park attire'. I am appalled at what many people think is okay in the parks and in the nicer restaurants. I wouldn't wear a tank top to dinner anyplace, and not lunch at a Signature restaurant.

I would. That's just a personnal choice. You might think it makes you a better person (appalled, really?), but again, only in your own mind. Nobody cares.

well I think tank tops come in all flavors. A nice tank on a well groomed person is not bad. A wife beater with a hairy back and pits is not something anyone wants to see in public.

Lots of people care. I guess it just depends on your upbringing and breeding.

You are kidding right? I'm sorry, the middle age called, they'd like their dumb class system back?!?

Ok, this is derailling the OP original question. Thank you for your insight. I hope nobody in this thread will make a decision out of fear from judgmental person... Wear what you are confortable in, as long has it is hygienic, no one with their sense of priority straight will care!

Why would I be kidding? When people are paying a lot of money for a nice restaurant they like a certain ambiance.

You derailed the topic on which I offered my opinion by attacking my opinion and me. We didn't need your opinion of my opinion. The OP can make their own judgment based on what everyone says.

You're at a theme park. You are going to wear things to keep you cool and comfortable. If you want to make sure people don't interfere with your "ambiance" don't eat at a theme park.
