I recently saw a t-shirt at the Limited Too that says "This Shirt Is Bananas"
A cute monkey is also on the front. Would you put this on a second grader? Or do you think it is entirely distasteful? :confused3 Thanks for your opinions!

I think it sounds cute....monkeys are really populare here too for some reason. :teeth:

I guess I should clarify, I was just wondering if it was a spin off from the Gwen Stefani song Hollaback girl, and if teachers would find it entirely inappropriate attire? It was a gift to my DD and didn't want to send her to school in it if it was going to cause problems. :flower:

Nothing about it suggests anything distasteful, it sounds cute! Monkeys are really popular with the girls right now.

What makes you think it's distatsful?

I think it sounds cute!

Probably because it *is* a spoof on the song "Hollaback Girl" where the real words are "this **** is bananas."

Still, I don't find it distasteful.

It's sort of like those baby bibs that say "Spit Happens."

Aww, monkeys are always cute and never distasteful! :goodvibes

i can handle this shirt alot better than the majority of what is being marketed to this age group: "boys are toys", "spoiled rotten and i know it", "i don't listen to anyone", "talk to the hand"... those i find offensive.

I know what you're say, about the Gwen song, so it would give me pause to think twice about it.

Adults may not understand it but kids may understand it too well...
It's like a tasteful way to be naughty.

I agree ::yes::

Well, when I first read the post, I had to read through the replies because I couldn't figure out why on earth anyone would find it distasteful! Sometimes I'm a little slow. :teeth:

Yes, I'd let my second grader wear it.

I think it's appropriate since they're completely changing the word. If they were dashing out some of the letters or maybe showing the "shhh" sign (Gwen does that in the video), then I would think inappropriate.

I've never even listened to that song, I turn the station when I hear her voice, can't stand her.

I think the shirt sounds cute.

I wouldn't have had a clue about any reason for it to be seen as distasteful until I read this thread. If I felt like the kids would notice (Do elementary kids listen to Gwen Stefani? - mine don't) then I'd skip it.

I think it sounds cute and appropriate. And may I add I would love my own shirt like that. :teeth:

As someone that is in Ltd2 at least 2 times a month and has seen their selection of shirts I would get it. My daughter loves monkeys. I would have no idea the inference of that phrase and even after reading it here I would assume most people including her teacher and so forth wouldnt either.

It sounds fine although I should warn you this is coming from someone who saw nothing wrong with the "I wanna be a Hooters girl when I grow up" t-shirt either. (Remember that thread?) So maybe you'll want to keep gathering opinions from others. :teeth:
