My oldest dd (soon to be 9) just called me at work to ask if I could see the sunrise. She said it's so beautiful this morning that she took her little sister outside to see it too.

I don't know why, but that almost made my cry. Maybe because

1) my babies are growing up
2) maybe it's starting to sink into them that I tell them to enjoy the simple things in life.

I don't know why I am telling all of you this either. *sigh* someone please pass me a tissue.

wait - you were at work before the sun rose?
dang!

that is a very sweet thing your DD said though...

awww that is so sweet. And what a nice sister to think her sister would enjoy it also.

ohh mommmy you make me smile, and yet i dont remember doing that! and if there was something so cool like that you now i would take her to see it!:cloud9:

Sounds like your daughter is following your lead and appreciate the beauty of life. A very heartwarming story indeed.

Very sweet and you are raising them right making sure they stop and smell the roses

Oh, I love it. How sweet and simple.

She sounds like a truly wonderful, sweet daughter!!

Not many her age would even think about a sunrise, say nothing about making sure her little sister saw it too, and then calling you to ask if you could see it at work too. Wow. That is just awesome. It could bring a tear to my own eye, and I don't even know you! :goodvibes

Awww.... you are making me miss my DD9 even more! :sad1: She is at her mommy's house in MI and we are her in Ga so far away... (She is actually my step-dd.... just in case of any confusion there. :goodvibes) She loves to watch the sunrise and sunset. Always wanting to paint it too. lol.

Too cute!

This is kind of OT but it has to do with sunrises so I figure it's ok ;)

A few years ago I was in a long term relationship with someone and I was on my way out to see him. I was leaving my DD5 at the time with my parents and she was sad because she was going to miss me. My plane left at 8AM so I had to go to the airport really early. I had a few minutes to kill before we were picked up so I took my daughter out to our front step and cuddled with her and watched the sun start to come up. I told her that any time she was sad she could look at the sun and remember me cuddling her. :lovestruc

I made it to my boyfriends place and told him the story. He thought it was very sweet. Later on that day he said grab your coat we are going out. We drove to a park and went for a walk. I thought it was just a nice place for a walk and didn't think anything of it. We came to a bench and sat down on it for a few minutes. He then cuddled up to me and said since you watched the sun come up with someone who loves you I thought it was only fitting to watch it set with someone else who loves you.

I still wish that things would have worked out with him.

For 5 years, I took my DD to school, and we pretty much headed due east for most of the trip (8 to 10 miles, depending on whether it was middle or high school)

I LOVED the days that she commented we had a "Lion King sort of a sunrise."

No more or that next year...she will be driving herself next year...

We saw the play 2 times...loved it!!!
