Applying the first day apps are available

Hiya! I'm going crazy thinking about DCP applications, and I'm not even applying until August Anyway, I've been hearing a lot of mixed opinions on applying as soon as apps are available. A lot of people are saying not to do this, because you're more likely to be put into submission and stay there. Some people have done this and were accepted within a month. So... what do you guys think? Should I wait a few days or weeks to apply? Does it matter?

My dd applied the afternoon that applications dropped in January...around 5pm-ish. She got the WBI by 5:45, then the request for a phone interview by 7! Her phone interview was the following Tuesday...applied on 1/12, pi on 1/19, was accepted on 2/22 and had her character audition on 3/8 (hasn't heard anything from that). So, she basically waited a bit more than a month to be accepted.
I think it all depends on what roles you are looking at, what they are looking for at any given time. If you don't answer the various questions with words/phrases that they are looking for, you may find yourself in submission. I still firmly believe that it's a computer system that goes through all applications and WBIs. If it doesn't see the things it's been programmed to look for, you don't get in.

My daughter applied the first day applications were available, around 10 pm. I thought she had a great application with significant work, volunteer and performance experience. She went into submission and is still there. She is just a freshman in college so she has more opportunities to apply. Best of luck to everyone. The DCP sounds like such a great experience. I am envious that I can't do it!

I applied the first day I could and processed quickly. When I returned the school as a Campus Recruiter our boss told us that they take applications in the order they come in. So its better to be at the front of the line

That may be so, but there are a lot of kids that have applied in the past month and have been accepted, while others that applied very early in the process are either still in submission or in progress. Perhaps the early applicants are being passed over due to something on their application or WBI that didn't pass muster, while later applicants said all the 'right things'. Who knows. Obviously the earlier you apply the more time they have to check you out. But, if they're still accepting applications, then they still need people. So, until it closes down, applications are still dealt with..even the later ones.

I applied the second day (I was too chicken to apply the first). I was eventually accepted for my first choice role, but not until the last wave or so!

Yeah, I'm not saying they're going to ignore your application if it is late but I am saying what they told us. I haven't been involved with DCP (other than the CPs at work) since 2013. I am just offering some advice. It cannot hurt you to be early. But either way, if they present themselves as a quality candidate, Disney will find them.

Absolutely!!! I imagine that earlier is almost always going to be better. But, if you're not a great candidate, you'll be passed over and put into submission. Then, if no 'later' candidates present themselves, those in submission will probably get another look. I am seeing a lot of kids that applied in mid-late Feb getting accepted, while those that applied in the first week are still waiting to get a WBI!!
