Applying Gift Cards?

I'm confused and I'm hoping one of you nice people can answer my question.

I'm going to disney for a couple days in July. I had to pay for one night of the hotel and the tickets up front, so my remaining balance is supposed to be paid at check-in.

I have a few Disney gift cards. Can I call and apply them to the balance before check-in? Can I use them at check-in? Is there a way to link them to my magic band to use in the park?

If you have a package that you booked online, you can make payments online thru MDE. If it's a room-only reservation, you cannot. You can apply the GCs toward the room balance at check in, but you cannot create a credit on your room account by adding more. The solution is leave a credit/debit card on file for charging to the room and using your MB in the parks. Then go to the lobby concierge to pay on your folio at some point during your stay. Just make sure to settle up before your checkout day. Disney will bill the card on file shortly after midnight of the night prior to your departure.

Thank you so much! I spent forever on google and everything had different answers.

You can pay off your room only reservation before check in by phone. You can use the automated payment system or talk to a CM. I prefer to have my room paid off before check in day. If you did online check in and filled in the credit card info, they have a tendency of charging that card very early in the morning. As for room charges, you can make your purchases with your magic band then bring your gift card to the front desk and pay off your balance every day. It needs to be done the day before you check out because, again, they will charge your card on file in the wee hours of the morning on check out day.

I went the night before we were going to check out and had them apply all of the gift cards I had on hand at that time. He had to ring 8 all at once but was really nice about it and there were no issues at all!

I always pay off my room charges by phone a few days before my trip using gift cards.

That is what I usually do also, but everyone should be aware of the resort charging limits. If you hit them they will charge the amount off to the card on file. It is different for value, moderate, and deluxe resorts. I don't know the current limits.
