Do you send your resume to the school, blindly? Or do you call & ask if they are accepting resumes first?

Do you have any tips for writing a cover letter?

Not sure if this is ok or not but check out www.atozteacherstuff.com They have tons of info and a great supportive discussion board dedicated solely to getting teaching jobs. Getting a teaching job is so different than getting any other kind of job.

All of my profs said to send out as many resumes as you possibly could within a 30 mile radius of where you currently live (honestly, I dont' think I would travel that far, but that is just me, I live in Jersey and with our new governor teaching positions are going to be hard to come by). B/c the district may not have an opening right now, but say in Sept they may and they may pull your resume out, or they may have a maternity leave, etc.
Good Luck!!!!
In terms of the cover letter, I remember one of my profs saying talk about what you could BRING to the school, not just about your accomplishments.

Thank you for that website SO much! I'm getting ready to graduate at the end of the month and with all the budget cuts I'm terrified!

Many private schools have sections about hiring (i.e. what positions are open, etc.?) on their websites.
