Applying FCC to a future booking before sailing

Hello as new sailing dates open next week, we are most likely making a booking for Dec 2022. However we have another sailing in early 2022 during that trip if onboard we put a deposit down for a future cruise once back on land can we apply to an existing sailing that was already made prior to that trip? Thanks

No. You're talking about applying an FCC, correct? (I'm assuming that from your thread title.) If so, those can only be applied to a cruise's cost prior to the time when you sail on your first post-pandemic cruise. Once you're cruising, any unapplied FCC you have floating around in cyberspace becomes shipboard credit on the first cruise you sail, and shipboard credit loses all of its value after the cruise is over. And no, you can't apply shipboard credit to an onboard booking.

My first cruise ever with Disney will be next summer 2022 that I booked a month ago. I am assuming that like other cruise lines Disney has a deal where if you put a deposit down on a future cruise onboard the ship you get a certain % off a future sailing. I plan on doing that in our summer cruise. Next week I plan to put a deposit down for December 2022. When I get back from the summer 2022 cruise can I use that future voucher and apply it to the pre-booked December 2022 cruise to get a discount off the cruise fare? I will be inside the cancellation policy if that makes any difference so I wouldn’t be able to just cancel and rebook. Thanks

Your thread title says "FCC". FCC stands for Future Cruise Credit, and that has only been given to people who had cruises booked that Disney cancelled due to the pandemic.

What I can see now that you're really referring to is OBB, which stands for Onboard Booking discount. When you're on the cruise, you can do an onboard booking that will take 10% off the base price of a cruise you book onboard (unless you book a blacked-out cruise date or book concierge level). You don't get a voucher for OBB, because it's the booking of an actual cruise. You can change your cruise date & ship later on if you wish, and you'll still get the 10% discount. However, the money from the OBB cruise cannot be "applied" to an existing cruise. Onboard booking benefits are only for newly booked cruises.

Some people who want to get the 10% OBB discount, yet are waiting for a later cruise to be released to apply it to (for a later season that DCL hasn't yet released), will book something onboard called a placeholder. This placeholder can later be applied to any cruise that you later book (as long it's non-concierge & not on a blackout date). You cannot apply the placeholder to an existing cruise.

So the answer is still no, unfortunately.

Thanks !!!! That really helps, so the placeholder is that like an actual cruise that you just book like western Caribbean balcony room 1 year later that you plan to change or is it actually called a placeholder booking/cruise which is just a blank booking

The OBB is an actual cruise. The placeholder is a blank booking to be applied to a new cruise at a later date.

As described by Cheburashka, the discounted booking you get from booking onboard a cruise must be a new reservation, so you can’t apply the discount you get in 2022 to a cruise you book now.

You can check while on your early 2022 cruise whether the cost of your December 2022 cruise with the 10% discount would be less than you paid, and if it is, you can rebook onboard with the discount and cancel your existing reservation. This may, however, require selecting a different room if the booking agents onboard can’t immediately cancel and rebook.

Just to clarify... your OBB or placeholder discount will be based on prevailing rates at the time you book the future cruise (whether done onboard or sometime in the future). An OBB or placeholder cannot be applied to a previously booked cruise without cancel/rebook.

So you can book the Dec22 cruise this week on opening day. Then cruise next spring and make a placeholder/OBB. But the placeholder/OBB cannot be applied to the booking you make this week. You can re-book that same Dec22 cruise, but rates may have have increased enough to negate the discount. At which point you can decide to save the placeholder/OBB for another future (2023 or later) cruise. Just be sure to use for a cruise that embarks within (I think) 2-years from the date you originally purchased the placeholder/OBB.
