Applying Disney Gift Cards at Check-in

I have been collecting Disney gift cards throughout the past year and a half. I have a fully paid room only hotel reservation for next month and in the past have applied gift cards at check-in to cover room charges throughout my trips. Is this still accepted? Thank you!

I think you have to go to front desk every evening or every other evening to apply the gift cards so they don’t charge your credit card.

No not directly. You will need to have a Credit or Debit card on file for charges and then you can swing by the Front desk every couple of days to apply your Gift card to the outstanding balance. You can also do it only once on your final evening at the resort.

Normally the final folio balance will be applied overnight on your check-out day to your Credit or Debit card on file. You just need to apply your Gift cards to the balance before the final night re-consolidation.

In a worst case situation they can do it at the Front desk on your check-out day but it will take longer.

Note: the reason for this change is that guests often applied an Entire Gift card balance and then the final charges were less and the guest had already thrown away the Gift card.

They charge the card on file after a certain amount is spent (charged to room), which I believe is $1000. You have to apply the GCs before that amount is reached. They can refund to your credit card and take the GC instead if they do end up charging the card first but it can take a while to get the funds back.

Correct - you are not allowed to load up your account like you use to be able to do - you have to swing by and pay it off - every couple days before Midnight - as accounting runs charges - often I would stop by after kids go to bed or early when I went to get coffee as I don’t sleep much and could get them when they are not super busy
