Applying Disney Gift Card to acct

My son just got a Disney Gift Card for his Birthday. He wants to use it to buy a souvenir from the gift shop on the Magic on our upcoming cruise. We have never dealt with gift cards on any of our other cruises. I know they have to be applied to our account prior to the cruise. We have booked with a TA. Do they have to apply it to our account or can we do it ourselves? Thanks ahead for the info!

You can apply the gift card to your account once you're on the ship. Just take the card to guest services and they will put the credit on your onboard account.

The gift card will work in the shops onboard the ship.

You can do it youself--you can wait until you board or you can call and add it before you get there. And like stated above--it can be used in the gift shop.
