Applying discounts later

I booked room and tickets for later June yesterday, if a discount comes out later I assume I can apply it. Would it have been easier or better to just get the room and the tickets separate discount wise? can I still change it and get tickets later?

You can only apply a discount if there is availability for your resort and room type when the discount comes out. Usually, not every resort and room category is included in discounts. But if there is availability then they will apply the discount to your reservation.

You have to cancel the whole reservation in order to cancel the tickets. You can always just book a room only reservation and purchase tickets later. That is what we do.

As the pp said, as long as there is availability for the resort/room type you have booked, you can have the discount applied to your existing reservation. Sometimes you have to be flexible with your resort/room type as having a reservation already in place does not guarantee a discount can be applied. The pp is also correct that if you want to take the tickets off, you would have to cancel the package (get a refund) and rebook RO, which will require a new deposit. Since RO and packages are different reservation systems, money paid toward one cannot be applied to the other.

When the discounts are available just call Disney and they will check what can be applicable to your reservation.
This is what I did last week and I had a discount of USD 2'000
