If i apply a code to an existing ressie, will i be issued a credit toward my existing ressie or will they cancel the current ressie and issue another with the code applied. I have read of stories on this board that ressies can get all messed up when changing.

In 2002 before I knew about the differences in the cancelation policy between the WDTC (45 days before check-in) and CRO (5 days before check-in) I was booked with the WDTC and I found a new code 30 days befor the trip and called to try to apply it. She said the I would have to cancel the first and then re-book with the code and that would cost more due the cancelation policy then the money saved using the code.

In other words in my case yes I would have to had canceled the first ressi.

tks mike, mine is a room-only res. If i apply the code, would that change it to a package with the balance due at 45 days or would it remain the same with the balance due at check-in:confused:

when I change my room only reservation to take advantage of the disney visa card discount, they cancelled my original reservation and made a new one because the orignal one had been charged to a different credit card. My old credit card was credited and the new reservation was made. the terms were the same as the other one, pay a nights deposit and the rest is due at check in. Nothing else changed.:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Applying a room only code (BBY or ONZ) to an existing reservation is fairly easy......and it depends on how you made your original reservation.

I originally made made my reservations ON-LINE back in January. When the codes came out 2 weeks ago, I CALLED the 800 # to have the codes applied. She told me that, since I originally booked on-line, I'd have to make a whole new set of reservations with the code, THEN cancel the original reservations. She did all of this for me on the phone without a hitch.

Because it was done this way, I had to put a NEW, one-night deposit down and she had to credit my original one-night deposit back to my card. She said it had to be done this way because "on-line" is a totally different computer system than from just calling in. Cross-referencing is not possible (either that, or it's just EASIER to simply re-book).

I checked my credit card statement on-line and I see where the new (much lower) one-night deposit was charged the day I called and the old deposit was credited back to my account a few days later.

Hope this helps.

Edited to say: Oh yeah, my remaining balance is STILL due at check-in (NOT 45 days in advance). I may be mistaken but, I was under the impression that the "45-day balance due" thing is only with Disney-Visa card packages. It might have something to do with the Visa company.

what code do you want to use?

I booked CBR with DV. When the AP codes came out they would not apply them to my existing ressie. I had to cancel and there were no rooms with the AP discount left. I had to switch to PoR to get the AP discount.

I did get a credit for my CBR deposit and a charge to my PoR ressie.

I had an room only res that was already paid in full when the gen codes came out in the beginning of March...I called up and applied the code and now I have a credit on my reservation for the difference...I'm looking forward to spending that money sitting and waiting for me at Disney!!
