Applying code to already booked package

Anyone have any experience in having a code applied to an already booked package? Based on what I've read on here, I would assume I would have to cancel current resv and rebook room, tickets, and dining separately. Is that correct? We're set up for CSR and ASMo with parkhopper and dining, but if I can use a 40% code when they come out for April/May, I would want to use that and maybe even upgrade to a deluxe if the savings is decent, so I could be on the monorail. I just wonder how complicated it is. I never even realized Disney ever offered discounts until I found this board and I booked this trip before knowing this. Any advice would be most appreciated.

While I have never gotten a pin code, I have found a special offer on the www.disneyworld.com website after I had booked and begun paying on my Magic Your Way Package. The special offer included a slight room discount and free ticket upgrade. I immediately called Disney Travel Company and told them what I had found. They applied the special offer and upgraded by tickets. I saved around $350.00! I will take any discount Disney has to offer!

If you get a code they will just apply the discount to your current reservation and you'll keep the same reservation number. You can either stay at the same resort, or see what else is available. It has been my experience that the codes and special rates are good for every Disney resort-value, moderate, and deluxe so you should be able to upgrade as long as they have the rooms available. They only have so many at the discounted rate, so call as soon as you get a code or discount.

This can be done IF:

a) the dates of the offer coincide with the dates of your previously booked trip

b) there is availability at the resort where you are booked under the offer.
