Apply Room-Only Discount to Existing Reservation?

It looks like our November trip may line up with the tentative late-fall RO discount dates if this year's dates are similar to what was offered in 2016. (Mousesavers showed the start date of Sunday, 11/6/2016---our 2017 vacation this year starts Sunday 11/5 so crossing fingers!) If the dates do line up, can I call to have the discount applied to our existing reservation or do I have to modify it online and hope a room is available for us under that promotional offer?

Calling or changing your reservation online should make no difference because your resort and category must be available under the discount under either method.

I have been sucessful in recent years in changing my reservations online for a better rate. I hate calling and I would hate to think that I missed out on a discount waiting on hold.

Do you have a room only reservation or a package? You can apply an available discount to a room only rervation online or by calling. With a package, I believe you have to call.

As the PP noted, your ability to do this is subject to there being availability of the particular offer in question for your resort/room type.

I only book room only reservations and commonly do this with my reservations - it's very easy online.

I have a package currently booked. That's a really good tip about booking just the room. Thanks!

Note that I am 'pretty sure' you can't apply a discount online with a package. It used to be that way and I'm assuming it still is, but not totally sure. I used to book packages when I first started going but then switched to room-only reservations and just bought tickets separately (before I had an AP)... better flexibility, easier to change online vs. calling, etc.

Good luck!

It doesn't hurt to go ahead and try to modify your reservation online - it will let you know the new total and if there's an increase or decrease in price before your finalize.

I am 100% sure that you can modify packages online IF rooms are available. I added free dining to my package when it came out last month. At first my room type did not show free dining available but later that afternoon, it did.

It comes down to availability. We changed our AP room only reservation twice online without a problem for the Summer discounts. In the end got 3 nights at YC for $280/night..........instead of 3 nights at WL for $320/night! :D Room type played a roll to but........when you can get a better price at Epcot resort.............how can ya not? :P

I've found online works best, just need to remember not all resorts or room types will be available.
