We're heading to WDW in little over a month to celebrate our daughter's 1st birthday. I was hoping to get a special shirt for her and while I have seen some very pretty shirts on eBay, I'm having a hard time with the thought of spending close to $30.00 for a shirt she will wear just the one time.

Does anyone have any suggestions where I might be able to find an applique shirt that's a little more reasonably priced? Any help would be great appreciated. Thanks so much! :goodvibes

There are some of the simple Mickey Heads, maybe with a name on them on Etsy for cheaper than $30. But, if you are looking for something elaborate, or more detail, you are not going to get any cheaper because of the time and work involved.

Thank you for the advice, I'll take a look at Etsy. I'm hoping that I'm not offending anyone, I'm sure it must be very time consuming. The shirts are lovely and I really do wish it was in my budget right now, but I just don't have the extra money right now to pay $30 or more for a shirt my daughter will wear once. It's taken us over two and a half years to save up for our trip and we're just trying to make it the best possible trip. :)

I have to agree a lot of work goes into an applique. Perhaps you could contact one of the people on the design thread and ask then to design a pic for you to iron on a shirt for your DD. Or I think Gymboree has a birthday tee but I am sure the cost would still be about 20.00-30.00.

I posted a request on the Creative Disigns board and a very talented Dis'er responded with a really cute design for my DS who is also celebrating his 1st birthday in Disney!

I ordered the t-shirt really cheap online. Just need to buy the iron-on transfers. Cheap and personalized!:thumbsup2

Have a great trip!:goodvibes

I'm so excited! We've kept the trip a secret from the other 2 and it's killing me. Luckily, I only have to wait 17 more days until we drive through the gates and they see Mickey's face!:cool1:

Do you have special plans for your LO's special day? We haven't decided for sure yet. We were going to do Chef Mickey's, but it's been getting such bad reviews lately.:confused3

We're spending the day at the Magic Kingdom and then heading over to the Garden Grill in Epcot for her special dinner. The character interaction here is wonderful. :) We're still debating on whether or not to order a cake.. Are you planning on ordering one?

I'm not sure what we're doing yet. I'm really behind.:scared1:

I Love :lovestruc the Creative Board and spending time there while waiting for a trip! You can check out what the Disigners have already made and request them to customize it with your DD's name or if you find a Disigner you like you could request they make something special. I buy my T shirts at Target, Walmart (love their grananimals brand for this purpose) or Meijer . I like Avery Iron Ons (can get them at Staples or Office Max). Just need a color printer and an iron. I do the ironig on the top of my dryer. It's a good height and a hard surface that I can't mess up!

Hmmm, just typing about it makes me want to head over there and pretend I have a trip planned!

Don't stress too much!! :goodvibes I'm sure you will have a wonderful trip! You are going to have wonderful memories to share with your little guy! :thumbsup2

If you do decide to order a cake, there is a cake thread on the Restaurant board. Some of the cakes are just amazing!! We're still debating on it, though. Our little girl has some protein issues (and she still has no teeth!!) so we are a little worried about ordering a cake. We have heard that you can order special cakes, like a dairy free cake. :)

Whatever you do, I'm sure it will be amazing! :woohoo:

Thanks so much for the tip!! :thumbsup2 I should really head over to the Creative board and see if someone might be able to help me out! I was apprehensive about doing an iron-on transfer.. Let's just say I have bad memories of trying to do iron on transfers when I was a kid in the 80's.. :lmao: Like half of the transfer would remain on the paper.. ACK! I just don't want to mess anything up for my daughter!
