Appliance maintenance?

Although my experience was with a coffee maker which had a moldy water resevoir (it needed to be tossed) my question pertains to all of the kitchen appliances in the DVC units...

How often does housekeeping/maintenance clean and replace these items. In our case, it was quite apparent from what we saw that housekeeping doesn't do anything more than empty the grounds and wash the caraffe. When I asked for a replacement they didn't have any extras, but found a 2 cup-er which was also in pitiful, but usable, condition.

Please tell me housekeeping does a better job cleaning stoves/ovens and fridges on the full kitchen units.

Which resort? We have never had any trouble getting replacements on the small or repairs on the large appliances when we have needed them. At OKW, they will even bring you a mixer even though it is not on the list of items porvided anymore.

I'm asking in general, for all DVC resorts (Assuming they'd all have the same policies regarding housekeeping), however, my experience was at VWL.

So, for example, if I booked a 1br for the week after Christmas the oven should have been cleaned of any Turkey residue?

We have had issues with the coffee pot a couple of times. Called the desk and a new one was delivered fairly quickly. This was at BCV. It was a studio and was a full 12 cup coffee maker. No complaints on service there for us.

I have found that coffeemakers in all hotels across the country aren't always that clean. I rinse out the resevoir and brew a full pot of plain water before I use it.

In 12 years, I have never had a dirty appliance when staying in one of the units with full size appliances.

During one of my BCV stays, I found a lovely roast waiting in the oven for me that had been there awhile. :sad2: (There were other nasties in the room, too.) Four housekeepers were up there in a flash, and they had the place finally clean.

I always check everything out when I first enter a room. Like Longhairbear, I run water through the coffeemaker, checking the reservoir first. If anything is out of order, I call right away to have things taken care of.

Regarding your question, the turkey residue should be removed. But whether it is... ? Just give Housekeeping a call if necessary.
