I bought one this year. I like being able to get a phone call/text and know who it is while I'm teaching; I always worry I'll miss a call from my son's school and this makes me feel better about emergencies. I also like the fitness tracking! But, I definitely could live without it.

I love my Apple watch! I'm a teaching assistant and am frequently out on the school campus at recess, taking kids to other classrooms, in the work room, etc. It's so much easier to have my watch instead of having to grab my phone each time I leave the room. My classroom teacher sometimes needs to text me with instructions or if plans suddenly change. I love that I can get those texts on my watch. I also have a son with autism at home and I don't like being disconnected from him. He knows he can always text me and I'll see it right away. I also like the pedometer so I can count my steps without carrying my phone.

Brilliant, thank you guys! I've taken a punt on a Series 6 watch. Mind you, I opted for a "C" grade device, showing wear and tear, hoping to get a good deal. If it's rubbish, I guess I'll sell it on on eBay and splash out on a higher grade version and count it as an educational experience.

Yup...have had one from the beginning. I've had the series 0, 3, 4, and 7. We're a total "apple house", and so it works for us. It's great for tracking steps, workouts, and I'm always out and about with work and like seeing who is calling/texting/emailing so I don't need to fish my phone out of my pocket. I have a dedicated number for my phone....in case of an emergency when I might not have my phone with me. I don't necessarily think that's worth the price (I think it's $10 a month through my carrier), but it gives my husband peace of mind. I've always been a watch wearer anyway....and like that I can switch out bands that are dressier...etc if we're going out.
