Apple Watch update

They’re very nice but I want to point out that they do NOT perform or replace an acutal 5, 6, or 12 lead EKG, they read rhythms like a single lead EKG does. But I hear they’re very accurate.

This thread made me go look at my watch app on my phone and I discovered that my former employer was somehow added to my apple watch as an emergency contact as "assistant" which makes absolutely no sense. There is no way I did this, this is a school district if it matters and my husband got me the watch after I was already on disability. Anyone have weird contacts pop up?

Huh, that’s very weird. When I set up my emergency contacts I had to search for and add them manually. Did your employer have a health program and maybe it got added that way? Though that still doesn’t make sense since it’s something you go through and set up through the Health App yourself. Could it be in your contact card and possibly added that way?

So I know you can travel wallet and phone free however does anyone feel comfortable leaving the house without their ID I don’t any thing can happen at any given time

You can only go phone free if you have an activated cellular version of the watch. My state does not have digital driver’s license yet and there are some places that don’t take mobile payments so I still carry my ID and cards.

Absolutely not a replacement for a real one. It does alert people to changes that may be abnormal which is a good thing IMO. I personally have mine turned off because I have anxiety and think it would do me more harm than good mentally.

Kind of OT but I notice more people than not these days are wearing some kind of smart watch. Just a couple years ago they seemed rare. For instance every single person at my kids Orthodontist office wears an Apple Watch. It’s a big staff, minimum 20 people every time we go. I find myself wondering if the doc laid one on everyone as bonuses or something. It’s become a game for me to spot one of them without one. (It’s boring there, okay? 😂 )

I am absolutely not trying to take anyone’s job I don’t trust the watch that much

It is sketchy. I distinctly remember setting up for my DH and kids and I distinctly remember defining what particular health information would be available in an emergency. I absolutely did not add my former employer because they were awful to me so it's beyond strange, it's not even a name, it's their hotline which is listing their code of standards in the contact notes.

LOL! I used to sit around and my kids sports events and see which kids had Iphones vs Android etc. I used to think of all the money sitting in those little circles.

I tried looking this kind of scenario up but came up empty. Once I had a couple random contacts of “people” I knew nothing about show up on my phone. I *think* it had something to do with the calendar hack/breech a few years ago but was never able to definitively put two and two together.

Guilty of doing this at the bus stop when they were in grade school. 😂

In addition to these:
Fall detection- If it detects a fall and you don’t respond that you are okay it will notify your emergency contacts and dial 911.
Heart monitoring/EKG
Mine connects with my Mirror for HR and to log workouts.
Don’t laugh, my absolute favorite is having a timer on my wrist. (Okay, it’s tied with being able to pay for things without pulling out wallet/cards/phone)

I’m going from a series 4 to a series 7 in a couple of weeks so a nice upgrade for me. I never thought I needed one but I love my Apple Watch.

What does this mean? Are you talking about your rings? Activity/Stand/Workouts? These are not limited and you can change your goals to whatever you want.

I'm cheap and still have a Series 2. :D It doesn't have the fall detection/heart monitoring stuff, but I want to upgrade to the newer models that have that.

I'm going from the 4 to the 7 before the end of the year, and have used an Apple Watch for 7 or 8 years now -really wouldn't consider going back. I use it all the time to pay with my Apple Wallet -wish all places accepted it(although many do). I have my Disney AP and Disney Gift Card on it as well and it worked flawlessly in September when I was down there. I also track my sleep with it.

I'm clearly not using my watch for enough things! How do you put your Disney gift card on it? Do you somehow add it to the "wallet"?

Last time the kids and I were at Disneyland ( 2 years ago 😭) I had seen a YouTube video about a guy making his watch face his pass. I did that and wouldn’t you know they changed all the FP stations so they were flat. We put our passes on our phone lock screens and it made it a breeze.

I’m also curious to know how you got a gift card in there.

Ot you s it true Disney owns apple that would be so cool if they did

Its darn good with golf yardage.

There are numerous free golf apps that work on either Android or Apple phones. Think my current phone screen is already too small for the various buttons they jam on each screen for most applications. Can't imagine using anything smaller like a wrist watch.
