The kids gave me an Apple Watch for Mother's Day and I'm excited to have it for our next trip but I was wondering about wearing it on rides like Splash and Pirates? Also any apps recommended to use in the parks? Thanks :)

What are you worried about? The watch is pretty much water proof but Apple won't say it because they'd have to warranty it then for that.

It is totally fine. I wore mine all over Disney and even running and never have had an issue.

Set up Apple Pay! If you want to use different credit cards but not carry them you can put them all in apple pay and then use your watch (or phone if you have one of the newer iPhones) to pay.

Apps I can't think of any specific. If you are a sports fan there are some that let you keep up on your team pretty quick. I use MLB at bat so I can watch the score of the two teams I follow with out having to break out my phone.

Set up the health settings. It is fun to get your walking and standing at Disney counted for something.

I have an Apple watch s/s with milanese loop band and there was no problem with rain etc. I believe the sports model is a little more waterproof. No need to dig out my phone unless I want to use My Disney Experience. It also tracks all your walking, set up the app before you go to the park. I love using siri on the watch to set alarms, for time to head to the next Fastpass+ to when to take my meds, and to read texts etc. The only problem with Apple Pay was that cast members kept telling me to tap my watch to the Mickey and enter my PIN, um no that is not how it works and I'm not tapping my watch against anything.

Thanks everyone! I've got the Apple Pay set up already, and it's the sport model so I'm glad to know I don't need to worry about the "wet" rides. Good idea to set fp alarms. :)

From Apple:
Apple Watch is splash and water resistant but not waterproof. You can, for example, wear and use Apple Watch during exercise, in the rain, and while washing your hands, but submerging Apple Watch is not recommended. Apple Watch has a water resistance rating of IPX7 under IEC standard 60529. The leather bands are not water resistant.

About the IPX7 rating:
Under the IPX7 designation, the Apple Watch will be able to withstand immersion in water up to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes. This means that a session in the shower, getting caught in the rain, or washing your hands will not cause damage, but prolonged exposure — such as swimming — would be harmful.

I've had a AW Sport since release day and shower with it on, worn it in pools and at the beach. The water on Splash/PotC/Kali won't be an issue.

My favorite timer/reminder app: Due - easy to set up multiple timers/reminders on your phone and will re-prompt you when they go off.

I love having my Apple Watch with me. Easy, comfortable, and it's fun to watch your activity meter jump up.
Also as someone else said the watch is good to be submerged further than most of us normally travel. I've worn my swimming, in the shower, and it's fine. Even Apple Technicans will tell you as long as you're not deep diving you should be fine.
