Apple IPAD

We have one...I'm using it right now as a matter of fact. We won it....my husband won with the raffle ticket I filled out for him, so "we" won! Haha. It is cool, but it is not a substitute for your home computer. It is like an iPod touch on steroids. It is great for some quick Internet surfing, emailing etc but not good for, say, my high school freshman typing out any reports for school. Sooo.... Yes we do love it but it can't do it all.

We have one and I am on it right now!! I love it. I do not use our regular computer anymore. I use it to go online, pay my bills, email, play games, reading books, and for all the cool aps! Originally it was for the family and I gave DH a hard time for spending the money on it. Then I used it, fell in love and now it's mine!!! :rotfl: I rarely let the kids use it!;). It is well worth the price IMHO.

Ok, just read your post after I posted!!! I could have written THIS post!!!

Don't you love the spell check that comes with this when using message boards! :thumbsup2

I also love love love mine, and am on it right now too. We just bought one for my MIL who has never used a computer before.......so far she's enjoying it.....

Also, you can buy full size keyboards to use with the iPad if you don't want to type "long papers for school or work on the touch screen. :thumbsup2

For anyone who has one, what is the monthly cost for the internet connection?

its 15$ for 2 Gb via At&t but no contract. u can have it one montht he stop the next. I LOVE MY IPAD. its so much than a itouch. unless i have to work on graphics I rarely need to do anything on my laptop or desktop anymore.

Every1 in my house has some use for it. Its the best money I spent on a piece of electronics

I adore it! It's almost completely taken over from my laptop and it bloomin' rules! The internet is faultless, Mail is fantastic, IM is great, books are absorbing, apps are countless, video is gorgeous, photos are a pleasure and the new software is wonderful... I especially like printing wirelessly.

WiFi is free (depending on where you are) but 3G internet costs and is quite expensive here at the moment. Personally, although I have the 3G model, I'm waiting for a Pay As You Go SIM card to connect as I wish (I HATE contracts.)

Actually, I'm using it now.

I just got mine last weekend for my birthday from DH and the kids. :goodvibes So far I absolutely love it. I love being able to grab it to check email quick, or look up something online without having to run upstairs to the computer. They opted to go for the biggest memory rather than the 3G version, and I think that was the smart thing to do.

I am not sure if you know this, but if you have a Wifi Connection at home you can use it instead of a data plan. So if you just plan to use it at home you can get the cheaper Wifi Only version. That is what I am planning to do once the second generation model comes out.

I would have to check and see if I have the Wifi. I'm pretty terrible when it comes to mobile internet connectivity.. can never get that stuff figured out.

What I meant if you have a broadband internet connection to you current PC then what you can do is get a wireless router which will give you a Wifi (wireless lan) throughout your house. Then you can connect the Ipad to the wifi connection. If this was the case it would not cost you anything extra except for the cost of the wireless router ($60-$80). Then you could also connect any other wireless device as well. I have 4 laptops, 1 printer, 1 Wii, 2 Nitendo DS's and an IPod Touch all sharing my wireless router.

was setting up the router pretty easy?

We bought one for my grandmother, she's 89 and loves it!! She is always on it!!

My boss bought me one when they first came out and DH claimed it immediately! So, I finally decided I really wanted one and took advantage of Apple's Black Friday deal.

All I can say is that it's the extension to my arm that I've been longing for! :goodvibes It's awesome!!

Have it, love it, sad I don't have my own-- I have to share with DH!

DH is in graduate school and uses it to read his books for school that he gets for the Kindle or iBooks applications. I love the games, the facebook, the site browsing, the map feature which I used a ton before I got my gps... it's the best thing ever. It also entertains my almost 1 year old with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse episodes when I'm in a pinch with her. It's also simply awesome when traveling. I would recommend it to anyone!
