I have purchased 3 through Amazon. I don't think it matters. What matters is that you insure it with a Square Trade Warranty so you have peace of mind about an 11 year old dropping it. Check out Squaretrade.com online. I have 2 teens and this company has saved us on two ipods. Search for a code and insure it for pennies/day..

If you buy from Amazon, you don't pay sales tax. My ds 9 got one for Christmas and he loves it. It's nice too because you can block certain things on it. I have it set that Ds has no Internet or you tube. He uses it for apps, music and texting.

you'll probably get it shipped faster from amazon than apple... other than that they are they exact same thing... you also might not have to pay tax on amazon depending on where you live.

If you buy it from Apple you can get your name engraved on it. And/or a phone number so you can be contacted if an honest person finds it.

Our 5 year old twins both have the new i touches ( Christmas gift) , above insurance...all I can say is OTTERBOX case....soooo worth it. I got them t target though on black Friday with the $40 dollar gift cards but amazon or apple...about the same but with apple they normally have free engraving!

I think that's a 3rd generation ipod touch and not a 4th generation. Not sure if it matters to you. Also, I don't think that one has a camera.
