Appetizer for entree?

I know that appetizers are not included in the dining plan but I am wondering if anyone has tried to order an appetizer for their entree? I am traveling with my dh, dd (will be 14) dd (11) and me. My 11 year old is considered an adult but will most likely prefer appetizers vs. entrees. Also, she and I typically share an entree and appetizer when we go out together.

It depends on the restaurant, server, alignment of the planets, etc. Twice I have asked at Chef's de France and have been refused each time. I believe there have been some reports of some restaurants allowing it though. Both times I've asked at Chefs de France I was on the DxDDP and wanted two appetizers for my meal, instead of an appetizer and entree. The first time I asked, the waiter just said no, the next trip I asked, the waiter said he wasn't sure, but would ask a manager. He came back to say you had to order exactly as the DxDP states (one appetizer, one entree, one dessert, and one beverage) or they didn't get reimbursed by Disney.

The most expensive app at Jiko is $16. Why would you use 2 TS credits for a $16 app? Pay OOP for this meal and save your credits for 2 other meals.

Same would go for OP's desire at a non-Signature. If you order an app for your entree, you are significantly downgrading the monetary value of the DDP and not coming close to what you paid for the plan.

That you will NEVER get. Some restaurants may let you order a single appetizer as an entree (may, many won't) but none will ever substitute 2 appetizers for an entree. Never. Ever.

We eat a lot of apps as an entree. you'll have to pay for the app. Then you'll conserve the dining credit.

If you have extra credits then book a dinner show or pick up a buffet lunch or b'fast.

Sometimes a dining plan is going to have some rules to it that won't work for people.

That will never, ever happen! You'll be lucky if they will let exchange an appetizer for an entree on a one for one basis. Again I've tried twice at Chef de France when I was on the DxDDP and was refused both times. Come to think of it, I was also refused at Flying Fish and and Raglan Road and I just asked for a straight up one for one trade.
