Appetizer for a meal?

I am wondering how the restaurants/servers feel if you have an ADR and you end up ordering off the appetizer menu. I'm not trying to be cheap - but often the appetizer menu is more appealing to me. My DH is much more adventurous than I! There are many restaurants that I would like to try for the atmosphere, but the food (sauces, sides, etc) seem a bit "out there" for my tastes. What do you think?:confused3

I ordered a bowl of soup and a sushi roll at the bar at California Grill in December. They have no problem with that. I have done appetizers as a meal many times.

Remember always that you're at a vacation resort. You are under no obligation to feel guilty about how you order your food. The servers have a captive audience and are not dependent on you alone for their livelihood.

I hope that helps you feel less guilty. ;)

I have often ordered a salad and an appetizer, especially if I'm not too hungry. We find that on vacation we eat so much, or have a snack here and there and come dinner we are not always in the mood for a huge meal. Don't feel bad, order what you want!

My husband is the one with who ends up ordering off the appetizer menu half the time, I am the adventorous one!

I don't think anyone should ever feel guilty for ordering less. A professional server shouldn't relay any feelings to you about the amount you order. If they do, they're not being professional.

You should order whatever you want to eat and not feel bad about it. It is your vacation and I doubt the server would even bat an eye at a person ordering an appetizer for a meal.

Order whatever you want! My mom ordered an app (spinach & artichoke dip) at Sci-Fi with no problems.

If you're looking to trying something new, try Marrakesh. We order appetizers for the most part. We do a late lunch, relax, enjoy the music and show. And IMO, and that of my daughter, we enjoy the food. And the attention to architecture detail in the Morocco Pavillion, is unsurpass.

If you would like to play it safe, and have some very tasty food that will keep you coming back again, I would say to try the; Combination Appetizer for Two - Beef Brewat Rolls, Chicken Bastilla, and Jasmina Salad $15.95

The Chicken Bastilla - baked layers of thin pastry stuffed with minced chicken and almonds, sprinkled with cinnamon and powdered sugar.

The Beef Brewat Rolls - layers of thin pastry stuffed with seasoned minced beef, fried and sprinkled with cinnamon and powdered sugar. And the Jasmina Salad is ourstanding.

I also get the sampler appetizer platter from Rest. Marrakesh. Allows me to try several things without locking into one entree. My only suggestion would be to notify the server if you want your app. to wait until other entrees are served.

Enjoy.

I ordered off the kids menu at California grill and the server was fine with it.

Thank you OP!

I was wondering the same thing... My next visit is OOP ...the first time in a long time we aren't doing DDP....

But I would like to order whatever I want for a change...and it seemed appropriate.....Might order $50 of appy's at Y&Y based on tips here....who knows!

I tend to tip (% wise) BETTER when I do that....as I have been on the server side and I understand what they go through...

HUGS<
