Scheduled to leave at 10:20 last I heard. Someone's luggage got dropped in the water and they have to go get a prescription refilled on the ruined medication - whoops!!

Another reason I'm glad I carry my meds in my carry on bag.

Absolutely! We brought our own large cups and always used their cups to fill ours, every single time. I suppose we're so used to places like McDonald's that let you refill the same cup, but it's even worse when it's one you brought from home, and have no way of properly cleaning between uses.

I bring a small, leakproof squirt bottle of dish detergent whenever we travel. We often use refillable bottles and sometimes have bowls/spoons for eating breakfast in the room. It's really convenient too if you need to wash clothes in the sink or get a stain out of clothes.

For anyone who plans to bring their own sanitizer, be sure to also read what the contact time is for killing Norovirus. Some are as little as 30 seconds and some you have to leave on the virus for 10 minutes before it kills it rendering them virtually worthless. If you're going to go through the trouble of sanitizing your own room, you may as well be sure you aren't wasting your time.

I asked about this in the last blood borne pathogen class I was forced to take and they said for sprays, you spray and let sit for the listed contact time and then wipe it up and for wipes, the surface needs to remain wet for that long after wiping. Because of this, they strongly advise against using the wipes that have a 5 minute + contact time because the surface doesn't stay wet long enough to kill the virus. Good wipes will leave a surface wet for 3 minutes though.

Apparently they had a hydraulic issue that caused the luggage to fall. I just can't even at this point. Noro, luggage falling in the water...it would make me want to skip the sailing.

My sister is on the cruise and lots of luggage is being reported showing up soaking wet..
Apparently it was a whole pallet of luggage that went into the water..

• Can one sue if they don't have insurance? I normally keep my laptop chargers in my checked luggage along with some other electronics.

As Mandlz stated the cruise before there were a few incidences of the Mickey Pool being shut and all kids out of pool by order of lifeguard, don't really know why, just saw them shutting pools down. This last cruise it must have either started on the first night (super kid soup in both pools) or Castaway Day. We heard from a parent that went to medical just before dinner with their child that Medical was full of kids, so yes it was mostly the children. Hard to say if it was from pool or club, but since Med was full before MDR on Castaway Day I bet it was the kid soup pool. CC was almost deserted till noon at the first FB. FB at PP was a bit fuller by noon then full by say 1pm, so lots of people stayed on the boat that day. All hammocks were empty at first beach and a few at second sat empty. By the time Nassau day hit we heard it was around 80 kids sick and only some parents.

Wow I didn't even think about the pool. So many bad scenarios going through my mind.....
I think I need a "time out" from this problem, I'm freaking my self out and since my daughter is 16 it shouldn't bother me. Once this blows over I'll remember it's only happened a few times in about 20 years. It's just a very unfortunate chain of events.

Which products say they will kill Noro?

Most definitely. Products sold elsewhere in USA can't often be sold in california, or Canada, or Mexico. I worked for a large global cleaning and pesticides manufacturing company and there were definitely differences. The laws for each chemical can be so difficult for shipping. Some see it as a commercial products because of the strength.
Yes it will kill Noro but not everyone can get it.

Holy cr*p that would put me over the edge, but knowing Disney they will clean all the things inside and make the guest happy.
Imagine trying to get in touch with your Doctor and insurance company on a Sunday to refill a prescription???
Actually, the Doctor would be the easy part, the insurance company would be the most aggravating part.

I hope all enjoy this cruise which many have been planning for a year.

An entire crate of luggage fell in the water and from what I read online, some of it was never recovered. I'm not sure how the compensation worked out. I guess it's better to happen at the end of your cruise instead of the beginning though! Here is a picture someone from the you-know-what page took who witnessed it:

Another reason to always carry anything really important to you in your carryons All things considered, though, if you think about how often they move luggage and how much luggage they move, it's not often that luggage gets dunked. They're human too and mistakes happen. Has to really stink for those that are just starting their cruise, especially the 14 day one, but I would hope that Disney takes care of replacing anything that is ruined, as well as cleaning and drying anything that is soaked and dirty.

Me -- I would not worry about it. Why? They do an amazing and grueling clean before the next sailing.
Last August we sailed on Royal Princess out of Southhampton for the British Isles Cruise. We got to the terminal early, but waited and waited and they finally announced that there would be a delay as the ship returned with sick passengers and they had to do a deep cleaning. They didn't even start boarding until after 3 p.m., but no one got sick on our cruise (that we were aware of).

Nowhere near this drastic -- but the worst soaking our luggage ever took was in Barcelona. It was pouring the day we boarded and they didn't have tarps over the luggage carts. They were out sitting in the rain for a long time before loading. When our luggage arrived, some of it was soaked through and through. We quickly grabbed all the clothes that were wet and ran to the laundry room and threw them in dryers. The luggage, of course, dried on its own and nothing was worse for wear.

I have a question for those of you who have been on a noro infected cruise. Did you end up hiding out to try to avoid the virus? Or, is it really easy to avoid by using common sense and hygiene? As I read this thread, I just imagine myself staying inside my stateroom, trying to avoid people and their germs.

I was on the wonder for this trip and if you are in good shape and a healthy individual you have very little to fear. The body is amazing and naturally kills off most harmful things. That is why only a few people got sick in relation to all the people (guest and staff) that were on board.

Good hygiene and being smart helps.

Now if you are young, sick, or elderly then you need to take more precautions.

It did not stop us from going to dinner, theater, route 66, Adult pool (no kids on this trip) etc... In the adult acts there may have even been a joke or two related to the issue(s). All in good fun

We did notice that the family pool and goofy pool seemed closed as often as they were open due parents bring ill children in.

We did Palo Brunch and they did serve us everything, no cold line or desert line - like on the Dream back in 2010.

Our non magical experience was getting off the cruise they only had 4 customs agents and it took us over an hour to get off the ship. Left breakfast at 9:00 didn't get to car till 10:30.

Wow, sorry to hear that, we left at 8:30 and were through customs quickly, they had several agents at that time, on I95 by just past 9am. It could have been that a couple of passengers got sick in line just behind us, that one we witnessed. They rushed us through and masked staff came in. It also helped our luggage was right there too on the belt.
